Hi guys!! For all of you reading/reviewer types out there, this is the forum folder for you!!

Put your name in here, and what types of books you would like to review. This is NOT the place for blog ads, that section is further down on the page. This is just a list for authors to see who is actively seeking books to review.

So for example, I would put on here

"Hi to the authors!!
I prefer to read fantasy, sci fi, horror, bizarro, any wierd, uncatagorized lit, YA, and any funny stuff!!

I usually steer clear of romance, history, and general fiction."

Then the authors, if they thought I would be a good person to review their book would contact me via e-mail on GoodReads and you can discuss the details there! :)

Shaeeza Haniff | 5 comments Hi,
I like to read historical fiction, YA, Romance, chick lit and funny fiction. I'm not too fond of Sci Fi, except for short stories.

Thanks hoping to hear from you,
Shaeeza

nightlyreadingheather (heatherhy01) Hi,

I love to read YA fiction, basically, anything YA.I can be reached at [email protected].

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) I post all reviews on Goodreads and Amazon under DogsDeserveCompassion - currently a top 1000 reviewer, for whatever that's worth :) I'm always honest in my opinions but try not to take things too seriously. Please read some of my reviews before contacting me about reviewing.

I'm pretty character focused and I'm not a big action girl. My favorite genres are horror, dark fantasy, true crime, erotica, m/m, and any romance with an emphasis on the romance (I'm not fond of books where the suspense/PNR/etc plots completely take over the novel),humor and sarcasm in any of the above genres works for me too. I also like dog books ;)

I'm burned out on/not a big fan of chick lit, young adult (with the exception of The Hunger Games), straight up historical fiction and hard scifi.

I will review ebooks from indies, some of the best books I've read have come from small presses.

message 5: by Stephanie (last edited Jun 01, 2011 07:54AM) (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) I will review just about any type of book except for those with sexual content or gay romances, large amounts of gore, and biographies or autobiographies (can't stand them). I prefer to read fantasy and fiction. I like to read a good, clean romance every now and then. If you want to get a feel for the type of books I read, feel welcomed to look at my book list here.

When I review, I don't look for character flaws and the such. I like entertaining, easy to love characters and a good plot. I usually give a review of the things that struck me the most in the book. Two things that really bug me though are grammatical errors or miss-spelt words. I can deal with one or two but if there's a lot, then well...you'll know. Grammar is a very important part of the book to me. I don't need complicated senteces or words, just a propper sentence.

I'm willing to read books from those both traditionally published and those who are indie authors.

I can't figure out if you are serious or slamming us.

I don't care if your an indie author or not. I just need a way to read your book for free. I'm not made of money you know.

I made the indie comment because many review sites do not review them and many of them deserve more exposure.

So far all of the authors who are on here have very graciously offered their books for review free of charge. If an author asks you to review a book and have to pay for it at the same time, you can always decline the offer. Most authors choose to give their books to the reviewers because reviews help people make a decision about whether or not that book is right for them.

@Barkless - I agree with you on the indie authors too, there are many out there that unfortunately never see the light of day because the larger publishing houses are able to push their books in your face while the indies have to struggle to get word out to the masses. It's sad to know so many wonderful stories are never seen. It's one of the reasons I love this group! We are all meeting with authors who choose not to go that route!

Cambria (cambria409) | 3305 comments Hey All! I like to read paranormal and fantasy. My favorite genre is YA but I like adult too. I also like some romance. My favorite is werewolves. :)

I am Pro Indie authors....they need love too. :) and i think it is great that they are working so hard to get their stories out there!!
I am Pro traditional publishing too. Bascially, I will read anything that is good and I am not picky where it comes from. :)
Especially if its a werewolf. lol.

I wasn't trying to slam anyone. I was just trying to say that I'll read books from any type of author i.e. indie or traditionally published. I don't have a job so it's hard to review books that I have to buy if they're not available at a library. That's all. Should I reword that?

Hey Stephanie, I think it does come across probably not the way that you wanted it to, maybe, if you try rewording it, it would sound better.

message 14: by Susannah (new)

Susannah Morgan | 2 comments Hello!

My 1st novel, THE SORCERER'S CONFESSION, is now an Ebook on Kindle and Smashwords. I have the 2nd, THE SORCERER'S PROMISE, almost ready to upload as an EBook.

I'd love a review from you.

Without getting too verbose, here's the gist of it: Charles Sutton, ghost, has been and can be anything he wants. He can harm or heal at his sole discretion, create his form to human proportions, and be anywhere on the planet in a heartbeat. He is the villain we forgive, and then love.
According to James Cox at Midwest Book Reviews: "The Sorcerer's Confession is the engaging story of an arduous quest for enlightenment that spans two hundred years of war and peace with Sutton's ancient nemesis, Galloway. Sutton is plagued by madness and murder, love and hate, is lost and then ultimatley redeemed...a unique, exceptionally well-written, tour-de-force saga..."

Thanks for your time in considering.

Susannah

OpenBookSociety.com (openbooksociety) | 62 comments Heyaz everyone! My name is Annabell. I am a reviewer for a site called Open Book Society. We review books along the lines of fantasy, supernatural, sci-fi, urban fantasy, paranormal (any kind including romance). I do not review books with certain type of content: rape, incesst, tasteless and pointless violence, pointless drug addictions, and sex.

Ebooks are accepted. All reviews are posted on Goodreads, OBS site, my personal blog, amazon, facebook and advertised via twitter. I accept books published, self-published, or not yet published.

I am a fan of Indie authors as well as published commerical authors. I prefer Young Adult but don't mind reading adult if it catches my interest.

I also love to do author interviews and OBS enjoys hosting giveaway contests for books.

You can check out my reviews here: http://www.nerdalien.com/p/open-book-...

Hi Annabell...checked out your site, and am following. How do we contact you for a review?

Fire in the Blood (Last Moon Rising) by Dale Ibitz

OpenBookSociety.com (openbooksociety) | 62 comments Heyaz Dale! You can just contact me through goodreads lol. I can personally review your book or pitch it to the staff and see who would agree to review it.

There is an author form all authors need to fill out just so everyone on staff will know more about the book so whoever gets interested will know what to expect better.

But if you would like me to review it, I'd be more than happy =) Just need you to tell me what your book is about. I don't read books with sex or gore or erotica so if your novel contains any of that than I would direct you to fill out the author form on OBS and it'll get pitched to everyone else on staff and you'll be contacted with who agrees to read and review it. We also do author interviews on OBS if you are interested in that as well.

Author form: http://openbooksociety.com/authors-pu...

Whichever way you go, glad you are considering allowing OBS to read and review your work. Thank you!

~Annabell

OK, my non-techy side is going to be glaringly obvious here, but, um, how do I contact you through Goodreads? Ok, there, I said it, I admitted it...I'm clueless! MY book is YA, so no gore or overt sex (maybe some *thought* about sex!) and definitely not erotic. I'll go to your site and try to find that author form. Didn't see it before. :) Apparently, in addition to being non-techy, I'm blind as well. LOL

OpenBookSociety.com (openbooksociety) | 62 comments LOL contacting me through goodreads is exactly like this lol. I was just joking since you were wondering how to get OBS to review your book. I am part of the staff that reviews novels so you already got your foot in the door *wink* You don't have to fill out the form if you would like me to read and review your novel =) I am a big fan of YA novels. And I'm happy to hear there isn't any gore or overt sex or anything like that. I just don't think it's necessary in novels. But that's just my humble opinion.

You send the info for your book to me personally if you want me to review it at [email protected].

Don't worry about being tech savvy. I am so not tech savvy! I learn by screaming at technology LOL

Ahh, we must be kindred spirits when it comes to technology. I do ignore all the buttons on my micro. It is way to confusing. When my Grandma comes to visit she's like what power level do use for such and such. I'm like Uh, whats a power level? I hit start.
LOL.
And i am getting better at using my cell. I just got an iphone and its pretty easy. It tells you..."push this button here." Oh, okay....

I am like you, i prefer to have the hard copy in my hands when I am reading, I like e-books enough, but paper books are still best for me, and they don't get forgotten about as quickly for me when I'm reviewing as they do when they are on an e-reader...too many titles all hidden from me. Also, my fluffy socks, toothbrush, and booklight to read from =) I don't mind e-books but I can't read for long because it hurts my eyes after a while. Usually takes me a little longer to read an ebook because of that. I just love being able to hold a book in my hand and smell it. Something kindred spirit like about it =) My entire desk and nightstand are always filled with books!! I'm gonna nead to build shelfs hanging from my ceiling to fit anymore!

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1328 comments OBS, I still love real books but I love my Kindle too. As far as I'm concerned, Kindle is for trying new things and paper copies are for keepers, so all my indie reading is on Kindle (so cheaper, so I can read more of them) but I recently bought a trilogy I've been after for years in hard copy as I know I'll want to reread and keep on the shelf and admire.

My main problem with p-books is finding space for them!! So the Kindle has been a life-saver in that respect - and also when I went on hols and I had an entire library in one little gadget while my mate had four chunky novels in her suitcase which was then over the weight limit and cost her some substantial fees!

Baxter Clare Trautman Love my colorNook. I'm not a techie and own a couple thousand books, which I am painfully aware of whenever I move (BTW, banana boxes are great). What is slowly drawing me in to my new toy are the tools that make it so easy to read, comment, highlight, bookmark...no more fumbling for stickies, highlighters, pens that run out of ink. And on a long flight? OMG, so nice to easily have a couple dozen books to choose from. Magazines, too. Natl. Geo. is gorgeous on a Nook.

That sounds like a logical thing to do. Maybe I'll get a Nook or Kindle just for indie books. I usually only buy books I am going to read more than once and am really excited to have. There have been books I ended up not caring for that I bought and just gave them away lol. Suppose I can same money by getting a Kindle or Nook. Its just hard for me to let go of holding a book in my hands and hugging it when I'm done (if I really enjoyed it). Or yelling at it in the middle of scenes LOL I treat my books like the characters are real and I have every right to demand things from them lol! And yes, finding space is now a big problem for me. I pretty much have stuffed books whereever I can. Like I said, gonna need to build shelves hanging from the ceiling soon haha!

I'm really curious to see which one will win out. I debated for a very long time about which one to get...and someone very FANTABULOUS got me both! I'm a happy, happy girlie girl!! I'll let you guys know which I end up liking better! :)
