Reading is a big part of all of my other summer activities. For this task, read a book while doing your favorite summer activities. For example, float in the pool and read, read at a little league game (just do like me and look up when your son is batting!), read on a fishing trip, read while hanging out in the backyard, read (or listen) to a book in the car. You do not have to finish the book in one sitting, and you can combine places to finish the book.
Required: Post the place(s) or activities where you read.

Heather | 384 comments For those of you who are not in the summer season, feel free to pick a leisure activity that you enjoy in your current season. Read while also doing that favorite seasonal activity.

Lisa Hickman (lbhick) | 1540 comments Bless you for such a wonderful task! Most any book I read this summer will qualify.

message 7: by Kathy G. (new)

Kathy G. | 1931 comments I'm a school teacher, and my favorite activity is to be able to be home, in my cozy chair, and read without interruption. Does this count as my favorite thing to do during the summer?

message 8: by Coralie (new)

Coralie What about those of us who are in the middle of winter? Some summer activities may not be possible.

message 9: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 815 comments Yay! Looks like I will have to make time to either lay in bed and read, sit out in the sun and read, or pretty much anything that involves relaxing and reading. Some of my other favorite activities involve too much action, like amusement parks and going to baseball games and going out to eat.

Gayla Bassham (sophronisba) | 64 comments So any book I read on our annual summer visit to our families will work, right?

message 11: by Heather (new)

Heather | 384 comments Kathy G. me, too! I consider sitting in my comfy chair one of my favorite ways to recharge in the summer!

Gayla, yes that would work.

Coralie, hmmm look at me thinking about my own little world! I would say that if you are not in a summery season, read while doing a leisure activity that fits your season (read on a car trip, read by the fireplace, sit outside and enjoy the cool weather while reading).

Dee (austhokie) | 8964 comments works for me...lol! relaxing in the backyard, chilling at the dog park

Katrina (katmcv) | 455 comments I too am in the midst of winter, presently wearing sweaters and gloves, so I'm not quite sure how to go about this goal, because it's cold outside!

message 14: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 129 comments I like listening to audio books while I run (which I love to do in the summertime), so this is perfect!

message 15: by Heather (new)

Heather | 384 comments Katrina, what is a leisure activity you love to do in the winter? You could read while doing one of those (like snuggled up in a blanket, sitting by the fire, staying in a nice warm bed).

message 16: by Amanda (last edited Jun 05, 2011 04:18PM) (new)

Amanda (amandapearl) | 267 comments My absolutely favorite thing to do when reading is to go to starbucks. In the winter it's a hot latte, and in summer it's a frap. I'll spend hours reading at Starbucks. Will this work?

message 17: by Heather (new)

Heather | 384 comments That sounds great, Amanda! Enjoy!

Snuggled up in bed is definitely one. Glad I don't have to do some summer activities :)

Makes me think of the Polar Bear Club, when we lived in Boston - the rather elderly gentlemen who would take a plunge in the ocean in January!

Tien (tiensblurb) | 2316 comments Yay! I was a little bit concerned because weather is going to be really cold really soon!

I'll be snuggling up in bed with my warm quilt ;)

Heather | 384 comments And I'll be reading in my pool while it is 105 degrees out! :)
