I found a free version at http://www.authonomy.com/books/24908/... ! Is this a legal copy?

message 354: by Minh (new)

Minh (cassandrale179) I kinda like your plot, Robert,

message 355: by Robert (new)

Robert Clear (robertclear) | 5 comments Thanks Connor and Irene! There are only a few sample chapters up on authonomy.com. I put them up there to get feedback last year when I was still editing the manuscript. I've published the book on Kindle now, so the whole thing is out there for the world to judge! ;) I must say I'm pleased to hear that people are interested in reading about the Greek gods in a modern setting.

Does anyone else have any Greek god-related projects on the go?

message 356: by Irene (new)

Irene Angel nah, i just love to read about them!

message 357: by Minh (new)

Minh (cassandrale179) yah

message 358: by Robert (new)

Robert Clear (robertclear) | 5 comments I like reading about them too. Though when I do I often find myself thinking 'what if it happened slightly differently...?' Then I want to start writing.

So I thought I might as well get it out of my system and put it all into a novel! :)

message 359: by Minh (new)

Minh (cassandrale179) oh, cool...

message 360: by Irene (new)

Irene Angel nice, i do it too! but i love the thrill of the unknown!

Hi everyone! New member here!

Name: J.C. Martin

Age: erm...21+

From: Malaysia, but living in London, UK

Anything Else: Pleased to meet you, Richard! I have a crime novel releasing in August (in time for the summer Olympics) with a Greek myths theme. Without giving too much away, think about the (Greek) origin of the Olympics, and you'll have an idea of what the book could be about! ;)

Pleased to meet everyone here!

Hey J.C! Welcome to the group! It hasn't been active as of late...:/
Really hope it does. And it's awesome to hear that you've got a book coming. A crime-greek mythology theme! Sounds really interesting.

Hermes is probably leading the story since he's like..the god of thieves. :P

message 377: by J.C. (new)

J.C. Martin (jcmartin) | 13 comments I noticed that. Hopefully activity will pick up. Thanks for the welcome, Professor M.! ORACLE is about a series of murders intrinsically linked to the origins of the Olympic Games. Nothing is harmless as thievery here, so you'll need to think of a more powerful god than Hermes. :)

message 378: by Professor M, the cO_Olest bro (new)

Professor M (kratoskicksass) | 130 comments Mod
Lol yea, me too.

Haha, because I thought..

Hermes = god of thieves =criminal = crime = genre of your book :P

But I guess it's more complicated than that.
Zeus maybe? Who's more powerful than the god of gods himself?
Titans? lol

message 379: by J.C. (new)

J.C. Martin (jcmartin) | 13 comments Ah, now you're getting warm...;)

message 380: by Professor M, the cO_Olest bro (new)

Professor M (kratoskicksass) | 130 comments Mod
Haha, it isn't the 'titans'?
Origins of the 'Olympic games'...haven't read so much in depth to it..:/

message 381: by J.C. (new)

J.C. Martin (jcmartin) | 13 comments That's all I'll say for now. ;)

Aww man...!
What about character details? Snippets of the book? Any slight detail about it? Other than the plot:P

message 383: by J.C. (new)

J.C. Martin (jcmartin) | 13 comments Oh, all right. :) Here's a quick rundown of the protagonist:

Detective Inspector Kurt Lancer is a struggling single parent with a disabled daughter. Lancer is thrust into the pressure cooker atmosphere of this high profile case. The stakes are raised when Lancer's brother is implicated in the murders, testing his professional integrity to the limit.

And here's a mini-snippet:

Professor M (kratoskicksass) | 130 comments Mod
Awesome! But it sounds more like a normal crime novel. Where does the Greek Mythology part kick in? The murders follow some sort of pattern of it or something?

message 385: by J.C. (new)

J.C. Martin (jcmartin) | 13 comments Yes, the killer is a maniac obsessed with ancient Greek myths. Lancer's investigations will reveal a link between these legends and the modern-day Olympics...

WOW WOW WOW! That's so cool.!

J.C. Martin (jcmartin) | 13 comments Hello Debbie, great to meet you! Who's your favourite Greek God?

message 399: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Davies (debbie16) | 2 comments well...

my heart always breaks for persephone, i love the strength of athena but overall i think Hercules is my favourite!

But really my favourite are the new ones I created to mix in with the old ones, Im not trying to force my book on you or anything but it is based upon greek mythology and is a this is what would have happened if the Eros and Psyche love story had gone the other way!

Its a fantasy romance novel and is free on amazon if you'd like to take a look I promise it is full of the greek mythical characters and worlds that everyone loves but with some new ones mixed in

Any Love But Mine

message 400: by J.C. (new)

J.C. Martin (jcmartin) | 13 comments Interesting blurb! Though not quite gods, I love the tragic story of Orpheus and Eurydice. Dionysius fascinates me as a god, particularly since I wrote him into my first ever erotic story, not as a middle-aged drunkard with a beer belly, but as a gorgeous, young but wild party animal.

But think Greek gods and you must mention the head honcho himself, Zeus. My crime novel, will Oracle by J.C. Martin , will feature mythology centred around old Jupiter.
