Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments About Pat
Pat lives in Victoria, BC, which is on the west coast of Canada. She's married and has one grown son who is now her web master and tech guru. And a good thing that is since she's a tech clutz.

I love reading and have loved making up stories since before I can remember. I took journalism courses in college and had short stories and articles published in magazines and newspapers. Currently I have an e-book published through Kindle and have another one coming out called Grady's Pic.

Pat writes light, contemporary romance. In Better Than Chocolate the characters are fun. Elena is an artist who's come to Chemainus to create a new life for herself. When Brad shows up and tells her she'll be out of business in six months unless she makes some changes she's anything but happy. Sparks fly and it's hard to believe they'll ever reach happily ever after. To do so they'll have to learn to trust each other and give up some things that seemed really important to them.

They'll have to realize that what they thought they wanted isn't as important as a chance at love and to live the life they really want. They'll travel up and down the island doing everything from ziplining across a river to setting up an art gallery/coffee shop in the process. And you'll meet family members who bring the D to dysfunction at times but through it all prove love really is what matters.

She is a member of the Vancouver Island chapter of RWA, and work at the local hospital. In the past I've worked in the restaurant and retail industries as well as doing home day care. Please drop by my web site at www.patamsden.com to check out my blog or read previously published short stories.

Alice Valdal | 1 comments Hi Pat,

finally found you! I'd love to win your book but I don't have an e-reader. Any recommendations?

Pat Amsden | 72 comments Hi Alice

It seems you have a computer or access to a computer so I can send you a download to the computer. Also for future reference you can get a free app to download books from Amazon.com and I believe the same is true for Nook and Smashwords.

Pat

♡ Sassy ~ Amy ♡ | 11 comments This is a very silly question but...

I seem to really like Canadian authors. I have no idea what the draw really is. As far as your book though, do you have to think about your audience reading your book, like not using Canadian grammar? I have been to Victoria LOVE THE Million Dollar yearly flowers!

A general question too I have(compared to TV)is: Are the book publishers different/seperate in Canada? Do you have to look for American publisher? Can you feely write with Canadian grammar if you wanted, or do publishers request you don't?

It just seems I have loved all the canadian authors, but I have not found that many.

I am glad to find another Canadian Author to read! I worked for a Union Based out of Montreal & Niagra Falls (my office was in the "South")& the president's wife got me to read some Canadian style books. They were good. (with or without the grammar differences)

I am going to add you to my list of authors now & go check out your book! Thanks for doing this!

Pat Amsden | 72 comments I'm glad you like Canadians. As to the grammar I just have to choose to use American and thus words like colour become color or stick to Canadian which I think most Americans can understand. I suspect I slip up once in a while but it is really the same language. Most of my short stories have been published in Canada so I would have used Canadian but with this book it was put up on Amazon.com so I at least tried to Americanize it. I hope you enjoy it. If you go to my website the blog before this one has a short video in it of Victoria flowers and the deer outside my door. You'd enjoy it I think.

Thanks for dropping by.

Pat Amsden | 72 comments Saturday and the day is a little cloudy here but hopefully that will improve. The Canucks won last night! For anyone who's been in BC the last couple of weeks you'll realize that's a big deal. Even when I went to the dentist yesterday she had a sports show up and was watching Canucks related shows. I didn't even know she could do that. Oh the miracles of modern dentistry!
