"And that's a lie," Raven purred. He stood, walked over to Yvette's chair and placed his hands on her shoulders--or rather, the tips of all five fingers, as a pianist might when preparing to play. "I don't like liars," he said softly. "Haven't I made that clear enough lately?"

((:D love this kid.))

Yvette flinched. She couldn't move. She was trapped with a killer. Her heart rate sped. "I... I'm not...."

"Say it again and I'll smack you," the Indian murmured, not moving except to lower his head and whisper in her ear. "It's one thing when someone tells me a single lie," he said, "but it's a whole 'nother one entirely when they repeat it four times in a row to my face. I am not a patient man, Yvette. I tire very quickly of people like you." That could be interpreted as both a threat and a statement, what he said, and he hoped the young nurse could see it both ways.

A slight whimper escaped the poor girl's lips. Eyes were wide, like a deer caught in headlights.

Raven chuckled at that and released her, moving back to his own chair and sitting pretty as if nothing had just happened. He smiled, but there was no warmth in the expression. It was more triumphant than anything. "You see? I knew you couldn't keep it up for long. No one ever can."

As he backed away, Yvette let a long sigh out. Her heart rate slowed down, and she shut her eyes tightly. Once again, hands reached up to fix her hair. She tried to act uneffected, but her hands were shaking badly.

The trapeze artist opened her mouth to say something clever, smart, smug... But she recalled his words and thought better of it.

She didn't speak. Blue-grey gaze found Raven and merely glared at him as she tied her hair.

"Well?" Raven raised his eyebrows at her, a slight grin playing on his lips. He made a go-on gesture with a hand. "Speak to me, scardey-cat."

A sigh. Oh, she'd probably pay for this.

"You're a devil. You know that? A sadistic, cruel, vicious devil. Except I don't even think you deserve that title; you'll probably enjoy it, no? What if I called you a lowlife? A criminal? A murderer? A waste of space? An empty body that runs on anger and nothing more? Would that hit a little more home?"

Immediately the spark of rage was kindled in his eyes, but Raven hid it well and looked thoughtful a moment, as if considering her words. "You know what," he said finally, looking at her, "you're right, Yvette. All those things you said are perfectly accurate, and I would have forgiven you for just telling the truth--but then you said 'hit home', and now I have to do just that." A small smirk, a wink. "And more." Then the boy stood and walked off out the door. He had things to think about.

The library was seeing few customers today, as per usual, but one of the ones that actually happened to be among the books was Raven, hidden by the shelves as he browsed for something decent to read. He'd been there a while, just looking, and now felt compelled to just pick something because he'd been lurking for so long. So he did, heading over to the nonfiction section and picking up one of Edgar Allen Poe's biography. He'd read it--or versions of it--several times, but hey, he liked it and that was what mattered. The Indian walked over to one of the tables, legs crossing as he cracked the book open to read.

The table wasn't empty, however as there was a young girl- not all that young, really. A teenager- with a plastic doll sitting on her lap. She was reading a children's book, running her pale and nimble fingers through the doll's curly brown hair. When the prescense of another person settled on Margot's instincts, she looked up to ind a very large Indian boy sitting across from her. "Hello," she greeted with round eyes as she took in his hard facial features.

He hadn't even gotten past the first paragraph. It figured. Looking slightly irritated, Raven glanced up from the book. "Hey." It didn't take him long to place the girl with the doll--this was Margot Middleson, the one Rosemarie had pointed out to him a few hours ago in her note. He'd been looking around for her before boredom had made him come here; it seemed to be luck that she was here now. Hopefully Rosemarie was close by.

((I hope it's okay that she did a note-under-the-bedroom-door type thing so soon. Shall we say that, by chance, Rosemarie happened to be in the library too and is now watching?))

[i like he idea. :3 No problem!]

And by chance, the sadist-in-training was there. Her hair had been pulled back to not be so easily detected behind the shelves of books.

"Raven, I presume?" He was the only Indian that she knew of around here, and he certainly looked tough and terrifying enough to be the Raven that everyone seemed to cower away from. He did look intimidating, that was for sure.

"The one and only." Raven raised his eyebrows slightly and went to return the question, simply because it was a more normal thing to do and he didn't want the girl with the doll to start freaking out before time permitted. "You're Margot, right? People have been talking about you." And by people, he meant Rosemarie, but there wasn't much a difference when it came to the lie.

[That last sentence didn't make sense. XD]

Margot nodded, but didn't ask how he could know her name as most people did. Like with the boy named Matt, who had told her she had gained popularity, her and Dolly Miss Molly. She only assumed that was how he knew her name. "And this," she said, holding up her prized possession. "Is Dolly Miss Molly, and she says hello."

((That's because I forgot to add on the last part of the speech. *headdesk*))

Ugh. Raven didn't like cats and he didn't like dolls or anything of the sort, so at the thought of a doll saying hello to him he had to force a smile and try not to shudder. "Tell the doll I say hello back," he said. "Does she understand you?"

[Oh. :3 Then forget my whole post about assuming why he knew her name. XD]

"Of course she undedstands me," Margot said, both her tone and the look she gave Raven indicating that that was a very stupid question. "And I can understand her, too. No one else can understand her, but Dolly says I can understand her because I'm special. Right, Dolly? Raven says hello." She turned to the doll and cocked her head as if listening for th distant sound of thunder. "She says she doesn't really like you?"

Raven raised his eyebrows in slight surprise. He didn't like the doll either, of course, but still it was odd that a voice in some poor girl's head would clearly state that he wasn't a person to be around. "Ask her why."

"Why, Dolly?" She asked, glancing down at the doll with open, honest curiosity. There was a pause of a few minutes and them Margot picked up her head to look at Raven. "She says you do bad things. Things that you shouldn't do."

Raven chuckled, albeit a little darkly. He was honestly rather surprised--the doll knew more than her owner, apparently, about more than one thing. "Doesn't everybody, sometimes?" he asked with a small smile that wasn't exactly friendly. Margot had done some pretty nasty things because he doll had told her to, he knew. "Isn't that why they've built this place, to keep people who have done bad things out of the real world?"

Margot didn't respond. She suddenly wasn't liking the boy sitting across from her. Then she herd Dolly whispering and knelt closer. "Well Dolly Miss Molly and I think that's true, but most people stop doing their bad things when they come here. Dolly says you haven't stopped."

"Because," Margot replied in a flustered tone. "Dolly Miss Molly knows a lot of things. She knows because people tell her. That's all I know," she added quickly, not wanting Raven to ask too many questions. "She doesn't tell me everything."

"Hm." Raven's smile grew a bit and he folded his hands, placing them on the table. This was where Rosemarie should start paying close attention, because the beast smelled blood and he was coming for it. "And how can you be sure, Margot, that Dolly here isn't just taking your memories and repeating them with a different voice? How do you know that she's her own person, with her own thoughts? How do you know she's not just you?"

"Really?" Raven's eyebrows rose and he tilted his head just a bit. "You don't remember everything you hear, Margot. Nobody does. Are you sure the doll isn't just that--a doll--who you've given custody of a voice in your head which says things that you happen to have forgotten about?"

"But I bet you knew. I bet you knew at some point." The small smile that now hung on his lips was one of triumph. "And that's what I mean: you don't remember everything you hear. So, as far as you know, your doll is just a toy that you've assigned a voice. She's just your mind's way of coping with that voice. That is all."

This really fired Margot up. No one ever got away with calling Dolly Miss Molly fake, and the thought angered the young girl. "No! You're wrong, Raven! You don't know anything about her!"

"I'll bet I could learn." Raven leaned forward and gave a dark chuckle, his eyes sparkling a bit with an almost malicious light. "I'm good at getting people to talk, Margot. And if Dolly is a person as you think she is, then I should have very little trouble convincing her to sing. So to speak."

Mayor violently shook her head, desperately sending locks of dark brown around her shoulders. "No, no you won't. Dolly will only talk to me. Besides, no one else can hear her. I'm the only special person that can."

"Oh, but you don't understand." Raven smiled, just a bit, and began drumming his fingers on the table. "I have the tools and I have the time, dear girl. If Dolly is a person with a brain that can feel as you insist she is, then eventually she will talk to me. If not, then I have to say the results would be...disastrous." He gave a charming, pleasant little smile. He wouldn't mind destroying the doll, especially if it would get the stupid thing to stop staring at him. Maybe he would just ruin the eyes.

Raven laughed, a light sound that didn't sound entirely pleasant and if anything was almost alarming. He loved it when they tried to threaten him, and he loved to show them how wrong they always were. "Or what, Margot? What will you do?"

"I'll... I'll..." Margot ddnt really know what she could do, and Molly was too scared to help right now. She blurted out the first thing that came to her mind. "I'll tell the guards that you hurt Molly!"

Immediately all traces of mirth vanished from his face and the flat of his palm came into loud contact with the table. Raven's eyes hardened; Margot had just crossed into dangerous territory. Rising just a little from his seat, the Indian leaned across the table slightly. "I'm sorry, I think I heard you wrong. You'll what?"

The hard slapping sound of the Indian's hard palm against the hard table scared Margot badly enough to allow some tears in her eyes; tears she had tried so badly to fight. "I said I'll tell the guards you hurt Molly."

((oh, boy...O.o))

His lips peeled back ever so slightly over his teeth in a snarl. His voice, his words, were slow and quite deliberate, laced with warning. "Margot, you have officially pissed me off. But because I'm feeling slightly more generous than usual, I am going to give you one last chance to answer my question correctly. Now: what are you going to do?" If the girl was smart, she would realize that it would be very stupid not to push him any further. If not...then she had what was coming for her.

[Hmm well I never RP her. She's not that close to my heart. :p]

Margot could see that Raven was tipping over the fine line of insanity he had created for himself, but she felt very protective of her doll. Raven scared her and Molly she could tell, but she knew Molly wouldn't speak to Raven. She wouldn't talk to anyone besides her, so that meant she had torry hard to somehow prevent Raven from harming her friend. "If you touch her, I'll tell the guards what you did to her and tell them wht a big meanie you are!" Tears of fear were rolling down her face now, but Margo ha managed to spit out the sentence without her voice shaking too much.

The childish add-on at the end of the threat made it slightly less infuriating, but Raven had gone over to the other side and he wasn't coming back. No, instead of laughing and waving it off as he might have a couple minutes before, the boy lunged across the table and slapped Margot hard across the face. He braced both hands on the table just in front of the girl, still leaning slightly forward. He kept this threatening posture and growled at the girl. "Girlie, if you value that doll's safety, you will stand up and walk out of here right now." A pause, the anger not nearly gone from his gaze as he glared at her. "And no one is going to know about this."
