St. Peter's Asylum discussion

Margot cried out in pain as his hand collided with her cheek. Margot could begin and sympathize with the table as her cheek gained heat and turned an ugly red. For a minute she just stared at Raven in horror, tears spilling over eyelashes uncontrollably. When the schock wore off she grabbed her doll and ran out of the library, fighting back her stuttered gasps.

As the girl was disappearing, Rosemarie was standing up from her hiding place, wincing slightly at the creak and snap in her knees and her hips; joints that had locked up and were crying out in protest. Her hood fell away from her face to reveal her cherub lips in an 'o' of surprise and her eyes bugging out of her head, looking at Raven. "Holy shit!"

Still fuming, Raven settled back into his chair and clenched his fists to distract himself from the rage. At Rosemarie's outburst his head snapped around and he frowned at her, clearly not ready to put up with any funny business quite yet. "What?"

"She was completely terrified of you!" The sadist-in-training exclaimed as she mad a move to the table, sliding onto the top of it rather than using a chair. Her eyes fixed upon Raven with a look of wonder and curiosity like she'd never seen him before. "She was practically putty in your hands. You just had to make one move and like that she was yours." It had been fascinating, though Rosemarie had cringed when he'd slapped Margot. It had taken all her self-control not to jump to the young girl's defense. Protecting girls that were unable to protect themselves was huge instinct on the redhead's part.

Raven shrugged, a bit confused by the ex-Huntress's sudden wonder and curiosity. She knew how he was; why was this little scene surprising? "She was an easy one though," he admitted. "Had the perfect trigger. A lot of them are like that; you just have to know who you're playing with."

"Which I don't," she reminded him. She unwrapped the band around her hair with the adrenaline rush she was getting from the scene she'd just witnessed. She had never seen Raven in action, it was definitely something.

"That's why I'm going to teach you." Raven straightened up and gave the girl an almost stern look, pulling off the teacherish look rather well. "So. You watched the whole thing; what did you learn?"

"Ummm." Rosemarie hunched forward in thought. "You kept throwing the facts of he mental illness in her face. Then you scared the ahit outbid her with threats and physical abuse."

"Correct, correct, incorrect." Raven gave an approving nod, two out of three for the first time wasn't bad. "I only slapped her because she got me angry; physical violence should only be a type of last resort. Besides, most of the time it's not even effective. You have to give off the right kind of vibe for violence to get you where you want to go; and you don't give off that vibe. So I would suggest ignoring the physical stuff entirely, Rosie. Rather, you're the type of person who could probably do a good job threatening someone with another person. Me, for instance--in a sort of 'If you keep doing what you're doing I'm getting so-and-so over here.' But I want to hear what you think about the whole thing."

Rosemarie glowed under the praise of Raven for a moment before she was put on the spot again. Not something she usually had difficulty with but with her lack of experience in this certain field, the former Hunter was coming across as awkward and clumy with her words. "Like what I thought about what you just did?" She pointed at the now empty seat where the girl and her doll had been.

"That, yes, and about what I just said. How I was describing you; I want to know if you agree or have a different opinion."

"Well I think I learned a lot and it will help me even though the slapping thing really wasn't that cool, but I can understand why you did it." Rosemarie pursed her lips in thought as she pondered how she could best scare a patient. "I think you're half right about me. If I were angry enough, then yes I could be almost exactly like you I think. But if not, I could go along with threatening by bringing up your name."

Raven gave a little half-smile and nodded. "That all made sense to you, then?" he asked with a slight chuckle. "My descriptive rant was normal enough to understand?"

"Mostly," she admitted with a nod.

"Good." He nodded once more. "Then that was lesson one. Do you want to keep getting demonstrations showing what I talk to you about or are we going to continue the lessons only verbally?"

"For right now we don't need a demonstration," Rosemarie replied with a thoughtful expression. It would take too mug work to find another suitable victim. "Later on we can use demonstrations."

"Fine. It will take a while to find another anyway." Raven broke character for a moment to smile at the girl. It was nice to teach, of course, but it was even nicer to let his guard down from time to time. "Formal stuff done, what do you want to do?"

Immediately Rosemarie smiled back and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "We could do pretty much anything," she decided with a thoughtful expression. "As long as no one is out looking for you."

"Well, I guess I'd suggest reading but I wasn't really all that interested in my book anyway." Raven gave the biography on the table a slight look of distaste. He turned back to Rosemarie. "So that's out. Games are out too until Margot calms down...and speaking of Margot, I suggest we think of something to do quick and then do it in case she decides to tell after all. I might get in more trouble than usual because of how misbehaved I've been lately."

"Misbehaved?" Rosemarie gasped and feigned surprise. "Raven, since when are you ever misbehaved?" She grinned and then looked around the library. "Well we could go to some of our usual places."

Raven smirked and rolled his eyes. He shook his head in amusement. "We have usual places now?"

"Well, yeah," Rosemarie replied with a roll of her eyes like, duh. "The places we keep running into each other like te graveyard is a big one and the peach tree."

Raven smirked. Easing up on her or not, he couldn't resist the tease that had just popped into his head. "Oh, yeah, that sounds romantic. Kissing each other on top of someone's grave with a whole bunch of dead people watching. Fantastic."

The ex-Huntress stuck her tongue out at the sadist then held up a finger. "I just want to remind you that one, you've kissed me on a tombstone before and two," she raised another finger. "No one said anything about kissing, did they?"

"You just did and I just did," Raven replied with a grin. "Besides, that's how most of our get-togethers end up ending anyhow. So there."

Damn. He was right again. Rosemarie ran her tongue along the outside of her teeth and shook her head. "That's not how this one has ended up," she pointed out with a satisfied smirk.

"Oh, really?" Raven's grin widened and, just to prove her wrong, he leaned forward and kissed the girl gently on the lips. After a moment he pulled back and smiled his triumph. "Wrong again, Rosie."

"You bastard," she murmured as her eyes fluttered open and a frown crossed over her lips, though she was trying not to smile. She leaned in again and pressed her mouth to Raven's in another kiss.

He broke the kiss after a short contact, just to laugh quietly at the comment and give his friend an amused little smile. "Just because I am a bastard doesn't mean you have to go around throwing it in my face," he chided. "That's the staff's job, not yours."

"But isn't that what you just taught me to do?" Rosemarie pointed out with a sly smile. Sometimes it was nice to say something smart-ass like in hopes that it would catch the sadist off guard.

"No, I didn't teach you to go around calling people bastards when ever you're proved wrong," Raven disagreed with a smirk of his own. He was taking the comment literally, of course. He knew what Rosemarie really meant and simply wanted to get under her skin.

"That's not what I meant," she complained and punched Raven in the shoulder. "I meant throwing things in your face."

"Oh, we're hitting now? Excellent." Raven smirked and ignored the last part of the comment entirely, knocking Rosemarie's shin with the side of his foot not hard, persay, but not gently either. "I miss my streetfighting days."

"Ow!" Rosemarie complained and dropped her hand to her shin, making it seem like the blow hurt more than it actually had. "That's not fair if you have experience in street fighting." Nontheless, the sadist-in-training kicked Raven in the ribs, not all too gently, either.

Raven laughed through the strike, standing to put his hands on Rosemarie's shoulders. He lowered his voice. "If you want to wrestle so bad, then we should really go outside. The guards are glaring at us."

Slowly eyes of ovals blue glanced toward the guards and a bright pink color flushed her cheeks. He was right, of course. Guards were staring at them suspiciously. "Fine, then," she agreed with a shrug and placed her hand in Raven's. "Let's wrestle."

"Where're we going?"

"Wherever the hell we want where the guards aren't around." Jumping off the table she wriggled out from under Raven's grip with a smile. Grabbing his hand she began to walk towards the entrance.

Raven rolled his eyes fondly but let Rosemarie pull him out of the library, leaving the book open and forgotten on the table.

Being a new patient to the asylum, Irina had decided to go do some exploring on her own for a while--the nurse assigned to be her guide that day had to take a rain check, rushing off to deal with one of the more unstable patients who was having a meltdown. After having wandered the endless halls by herself for half an hour or so, she was ready for a change of scenery--and more than that, the sight of other people--and so found herself in the library, lounging on one of the couches with a rather peaceful expression, seeing no reason to do anything more than watch the comings and goings of the place.

[Sad but true LOL.]

Another patient was rummaging around the library, looking for some sort of excitement. Things had been rather boring for her lately and as she was looking at the books on the shelf in a flouncy floral skirt which hung way up her knee and snugly-fitting halter top with a mid drift she saw an unfamiliar figure on a couch not far away. There had been a small shipment of new patients these past few weeks, but none of them had gained a reputation good enough for her to snoop around in the files. Placing some book back on the shelf by an author she'd only vaugly heard of, Akantha sauntered over to the girl in the couch, her heels clacking noisily against the thin carpet which underneath held cold, hard concrete.

The sound caught Irina's attention, and she glanced up as it came towards her. "Hello," she said, keeping her expression neutral--normally she would have offered a small smile of greeting, but the girl in the heels she saw now seemed a bit haughty and thus undeserving of such welcome. The Russian girl couldn't stand the type.

"You're new." An obvious statement which held a question beneath it. Who are you? And beneath that, a possible explanation for why the girl was there. She plopped herself down in the cushions and crossed her legs. Green eyes settled upon the curly-haired newbie with slight interest and curiosity.

No shit. The words didn't come out of her mouth, which had formed into a tight, disapproving line, but the sudden hardening of Irina's eyes probably betrayed what she wanted to say anyhow. Nonetheless, she kept irritation in check and simply responded to the question beneath the statement: "Irina Volkov. And you are?"

"Akantha Anderson," she introduced, not bothering to offer a hand for shaking. She could tell by the other girl's tight expression that this could easily turn into a not-so-friendly encounter. She reminded herself to remember the name so she could read her file and learn more. It could certainly come in handy.

((Shouldn't be hard, 'Kantha. She's the only Russian girl around the place with an accent and a name to label her as such. :P))

Irina gave a little nod and set her hands in her lap, not exactly relaxing. "Mind telling me what you came for?" she asked, not out of curiosity but because she wanted the girl to leave. She was disrupting the peace, and the sooner she went back to said peace the better.

A small smile of grim amusement touched the glossed lips of Akantha Anderson. Whenever asked this question by another patient, she lived to see their reactions to her response which usually contained a lacking in informative detail. "Breaking and entering. And yourself?"

((Not that. She wants to know what Akantha wants with her. :P))

Irina scoffed; finally her scorn for the girl began to break through. Because nothing irritated her more than someone just trying to egg on a reaction in someone else. "Oh, yes," she said, sarcasm heavy, "Breaking and entering is clearly a mark of the certifiably insane. Shame on you, Miss Anderson, for not realizing that until the doctors caught up with you." She then rolled her eyes and turned her attention elsewhere, one leg moving up to cross over the other.

Raven was lounging on one of the library's couches, leaning his head on his hand and tapping a rhythm on his leg with the other. There hadn't been much to brood over in the asylum lately--the staff were finally beginning to slack off on their constant surveillance, and none of the patients were being particularly bothersome. Thus, he was simply thinking, sitting there on the couch, and the thoughts for once weren't troubling at all.
