Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments Miss & I will be doing a buddy read of Wither soon and anyone is welcome to join in.

Miss | 330 comments Great Daffodil, let me know when you start. :D

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments I tried to leave a message last night while I was at the library, but GR went down while I was in the middle of it. GRRRR.

I'm not sure how good I'll be at buddy reading since I only have steady internet access from work and intermittent evening/weekend access from the library or a friend's house. We'll have to see how this goes. :D

I took Wither with me when I left the house this morning and managed to read the first dozen pages on the bus to work. Interesting set-up so far. I'll be reading more on my lunch hour today.

Miss | 330 comments Yes, I started reading it too, the setup is definitely interesting and grim, I'm wondering how it'll work out at the end (maybe the end of the trilogy?)
I'm about a third through and really conflicted about the main characters (don't want to spoil it for you if you're not there yet). I think there's definitely a bit of Stockholm syndrome in there.

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments I read some more on my lunch hour and they just finished having dinner after the wedding. I can't help thinking that the genetic anomoly that caused Rhine's eye color is going to be important later on . . . and maybe I've watched "28 Weeks Later" too many times. LOL.

Miss | 330 comments I think so too because her parents were geneticists, they might have done something to their twins to make them live longer. But I'm not sure how we can know one way ord another until she turns twenty. Also how about gabriel and linden and the other girls? (I'm a bit creeped out by the youngest's pregnancy, but I guess it's s what happens when you have to die so young)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments Definitely disturbing. Even Rhine & Jenna were bothered by it, though they have a what-can-you-do attitude. It's a very hopeless world, they feel they have no real future and Gatherer's are stealing away their present.

Miss | 330 comments I've finished it today and can't wait for the sequel. Did you finish it? I don't want to spoil the ending for you.

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments I finished last night. The world DeStefano has created is fascinating and I'm definitely going to be reading more.

There are more than a few technical/scientific problems with the book. I'm just not sure that I care. LOL. I'm kind of mulling things over before I write any kind of review.

Miss | 330 comments Yes there were many things that were left unexplained and unresolved at the end of the book but I'm hoping they will get answered in the sequels. It felt more like a beginning than an end and that's why I'm so anxious to read the next one. Also I'm wondering what will Linden do now that Rhyne left with Gabriel.
