Don't take it as a recommendation. I have read the early books and have four more, including Silence of the Sea downloaded but haven't managed to get to them. I thought the article noteworthy for fans. I'm hoping to enjoy her books more once I get to them....

Yrsa Sigurðardóttir is one of my favourite Icelandic authors, and even though I didn't think The Silence of the Sea was her best book, it was definitely worth reading.

Christoffer Petersen | 5 comments I am about to read Polar Star for the second time. I would start with Gorky Park but know it just a little too well. Martin Cruz Smith's Renko books were cheap on kindle the other day, so I picked up the ones I did not have. I am looking forward to spending some time in Russia... again.

Had heard of him for years but don't remember reading him before. Just read The Girl From Venice and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Reading something new NOT Scandi but very much enjoying spending time in France with Peter May's Enzo MacLeod series, first book Extraordinary People. Good location descriptions and the body parts are adding up......

Agree with you....but I tend to read series and have rather strong opinions about them. That Hanne goes through many changes is quite true and it reflects also in the writer's second series which connects at various stances. Mind you, all series whether watched or read are important in order......in this case, a new to the series reader is very lucky as earlier books were not necessarily available in language of choice transactions in order but they are now.

Not Scandi but I feel worth mentioning....
Having read the delightful Lewis Trilogy by Peter May and his book Coffin Road, all set in the lovely and well described isles of Lewis and Harris, Scotland. I have started another of this writer's series and am finding them well worth recommending. They take place in France and he moves around solving cold cases and in the process discovering some wonderful bits of French country, society, culture, history. And lots of bodies! Nice format.
Enzo Macleod Files: Peter May. all on iBook. Good prices!
Extraordinary People (The Enzo Files, #1)
The Critic (Enzo Files, #2)
Blacklight Blue (Enzo Files, #3)
Freeze Frame (Enzo Files, #4)
Blowback (Enzo Files, #5)
Cast Iron (The Enzo Files, #6) due out soon.

I ended up buying a copy online, it didn't arrive yet but as luck would have it...a copy was in the library. I'm now reading it, and will stick with it. The plot or "set up" is unusual enough (the ghostship). It is always of interest why the author chooses to tell the story the way they do. Back to it.

Now Finished, the story was compelling until the "Denouement" which fell apart for me, and the very end was too dark for me, but may work for other readers. Her writing style is fine, and the female lead is interesting.

Anyone else having problems reading these types of posts with covers that are very hard to read?

I might be wrong, but I thought Vicky was referring to Yrsa Sigurðardóttir (assuming that she was replying to Sharon's post about the Thora Gudmundsdottir series).

Only if I'm on the app where the covers don't always show up (or get displaced on the screen). If I'm on the computer, it's usually fine (or I just click on the cover link to see the book page if I'm curious about the book).
