The Shadow District
by Arnaldur Indriðason, Victoria Cribb (Translation)

Careful there are some serious errors....again listings without the correct Scandinavian spelling of the authors name!

I just finished the ARC of The Scarred Woman by Jussi Adler-Olsen and Rose was the main character although there were many other stories which were told. I think if you were turned off by other Jussi's books you will really like this book. I did and I highly recommend it.

Thank you Ken. I stopped the books because of Rose and etc...and prefer the very excellent films but this inspires me to give it another try.

I hear you, Sharon. I'm not doing too bad with my reading schedule but as woefully behind on reviews.
Have to say, I was a bit disappointed with this one after really enjoying the first book. More space is devoted to the main characters & their various personal issues than the actual crime & investigation.

I don't sign in with Facebook, so I'm not positive; however, if you go to your profile, scroll right on the toolbar to the fifth pulldown menu, Apps. The first app displayed on mine is Facebook, with the option to "Let your Facebook friends know what you’re reading!" I haven't connected Facebook (or any other social account) to my GR account. If you have, though, you should have an "unlink Facebook account" option under the Facebook logo and, if you click on it, voila, no more announcements on FB about your reading activity.

To each his own, but it would creep the heck out of me and be way TMI if all of my books were shared at my Facebook account. Wow.

Re Nesbo and his Harry Hole series, it is really worthwhile to read the series in order. There is a lot of development along the route....imo.

message 2885: by Phil (new)

Phil Yes I now agree, read the Snowman first, and realised whilst on Readbreast I knew more about Harry Hole than I should.
Looking forward to the film version , but would have preferred it to have been in Sweden , as in the Stieg Larson trilogy, which adhered more to the books and were much darker.

Phil I picked up the Lars Kepler book in a charity shop, having already read books by Stieg Larsson Henning Mankell Camilla Lackberg Jo Nesbo and Hakan Nesser.
I wasn't disappointed , would recommend, give him a try Gwyneth

Fall 2017 Nordic Noir Reading List
July 25, 2017
There’s nothing better than a good Scandinavian crime novel. The genre’s grit, moody atmosphere, sharp social commentary, and complex characters never fail to deliver my favorite crime fiction reads—and this fall is going to be a huge one for new Scandinavian crime releases! From new series installments to compelling standalones to a major movie adaptation, there’s a little something for everyone releasing this fall.

Organized by month, CBTB’s Fall 2017 Nordic Noir Reading List is your guide to all the upcoming releases that will be on my TBR—and that should be on your list too. ....

The Dying Detective, Leif G.W. PERSSON .....

Take note there are some rather weird listings as people are using the wrong spelling on GRs so my suggestion is to always click on ALL EDITIONS .....

I try to give you guys the latest in Books showing what is out there. However Goodreads doesn't have any idea what is out there and I'm kind if angry that they can't get what Amazon has. An example is The Anthill Murders by Hans Olav Lahlum, it's been for pre-order for some time and has a cover, yet Goodreads doesn't have it. Sorry for those folks looking for it you don't know the cover.

Thanks Ken. Bit frustrated myself with some things like that...I have read all the Max Camara books and yet GRs says this book is number 6, while it is the 7th I have read and have on my listing!!!

Well, I had to read Origin by Dan Brown, I went to his lecture and got a first edition signed copy, with 2,200 other people. It follows Dan's previous books almost like a pattern. What he expands upon were the descriptions when he describes everything places, thing, people, you name it. You get a sense of Spain in everything that he describes. It was easy to figure out how each person was killed, I saw it coming. I won't tell you so you can read it yourself. It was a good read, but not Scandinavian.
