MJ I love this series. I inhale her books as soon as I can get my hands on one. Can’t wait till September when Devoted in Death comes out. So, here are my two cents worth:
(PS - I didn’t read all the suggestions here, there are a lot of them...)
Eve Dallas - Although I love Stana Katic and can see her being able to “act” as Eve – she’s too beautiful. Dallas is not unattractive, and she is sexy, but not traditionally beautiful or pretty either. For Eve, I thought of Jessica Chastain as she looked in the movie “Momma”, but I have never seen her act and have no idea if she can play a hard-ass cop. But I guess if I had to choose a beautiful actress, it would be Stana Katic.
Roarke - Daniel DiTomasso – Tina suggested DiTomasso, so I looked him up. Oh yeah! I agree with her & Ade, looks-wise I can see him as Roarke, most definitely! But can he act? And do an Irish lilt/accent? (http://www.wallpaperseries.com/tv-ser...)
Dr. Mira – Cindy suggested Sharon Lawrence. I like this choice as Dr. Mira, a lot.
Peabody - Everyone seems to be suggesting really slim women. Peabody is not slim. She’s not fat, but she is always obsessing over her ass – definitely not skinny. Any ideas?
McNab - Orlando Bloom. I remember Bloom from The Lord of the Rings movies where he wore long blond hair and was very slim, just like I picture McNab. Although he is a little too pretty, I can see him in the part.
Somerset - Oh, oh, someone here suggested Patrick Stewart! What a great choice. I would never have thought of it. But Stewart can do haughty and self righteous really well and he has the right age and looks for me. Another suggestion would be Ian McKellen.
Baxter - Brandon Routh. Someone here suggested him as Roarke, but I think he’s more of a Baxter. For me, he’s missing that hard edge that Roarke has that can scare people with just a look.
But alas, I have to agree with some of you that a movie will never live up to my/our expectations. As we can see from these posts most of us see the characters so differently. The people who would do the movie would also have their own unique perceptions. Even if Nora Roberts herself did all the casting and writing, I’d bet she could not match my imagination. Sigh...

Dawn Whidden FUNNY, I always saw Nora Roberts herself as Eve.. Actually I really do think she is based on her own looks.

I see the only one cabiable of playing Peabody and fits the persona exactly is Emily Osment. She was the best friend on Hannah Mantana, and has her own show on ABC Family, Young and Hungry. Every time I read Peabody I see her in my head.

Julie Is a movie actually being made based on the books series?

I think it's just wishful thinking, Julie.

Love your thoughts on Mavis and Rourke, and i agree that they should look for a new actor from Ireland.

Alissa Brown I can't see anyone else except Colin O'Donoghue as Roarke.. *sigh*

But, have a look at Aidan Turner, Irish actor, beautiful, dark and sexy- has had most of the UK smitten since the last series of Poldark - he is the man!

Claudia Don't forget that this world has major physical enhancements going for it; the average lifespan, if I'm recalling this correctly, is about 120 years old. I know Mira is a grandma, but she doesn't have to be a really wrinkly 50-60 year old woman. I think Mira could be played by an actress as young as 40. A little make-up would add anything missing, but I think it'd work well.

In any case, Sharon Lawrence definitely works, for me at least, as Mira. :)

Aidan is gorgeous, he's also a bit short at 5'11"... But it could work. I prefer Jamie Dornan...

message 214: by Mara (new) - added it

Mara Pemberton Personally I don't think a movie of an IN DEATH book should not be made.

Leaves us to our FANTASIES!!!!!

Claudia What about Elisabeth Röhm as Eve? She'd just need the chin dent and maybe some contacts?

message 216: by Mara (new) - added it

Mara Pemberton Elizabeth Rohm is to short to play Eve Dallas. If it were not for age I'd say say Rebecca Romijn or Charlize Theron would be perfect to play Eve.

message 217: by Joy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Joy Jonathan Rhys Meyer - He has the face and he's Irish. Grow his hair out and he has that "fallen angel" look. The camera can fudge his height as he's only 5'9"

message 218: by Miss (new) - rated it 5 stars

Miss A series, for Netflix, Amazon or Hulu, for a good running, all those books would make for a long series, a movie wouldn't have nearly enough time to do it justice.

I'd go with Colin Egglesfield or David Gandy for Roarke, Jonathan Rhys Meyers would do too, and he's Irish. Tom Hiddleston with dark hair a power suit.. Swoon!
Stana katic or Jamie Alexander for Eve.
Stana has the coloring but Jamie has a tough chick vibe that's stronger and her hair looks good short Stana looked weird when she had short hair...
Zoey Deschanel for Peabody, Daniela Vega or Ana Belknap whom I honestly like better.
Michael Caine or Bill Nighy as Sommerset since Peter O'toole has passed and he was perfect.
Frederick Brown or Delroy Lindo as Whitney
Mathew Grey gubbler as McNabb
Matt bommer or Michael fassbender as Charles
Helen Mirren, Gillian Anderson or Michelle Pfeiffer as Charlotte Mira
Steve Martin or John Corbet as Denis Mira, depends on the actress
Maisie Williams as Mavis, tho, Katie Perry, Lady Gaga o Iggy Azalea would do good as Mavis too though they are taller and older.
William H. Macy as Feeney
Peter mensa or Steve Harris for Crack
Tyler Perry with a salt and paper beard for Tibble
Eddie spears, Rick Mora or Rodney Grant as Leonardo
Eliza Dushku for Nadine Furst.
Ellie Bamber and Frances Fisher as young and older Sinead and Siobhan Brody, Roarke's Mom and Aunt.
Richard Armitage as Patrick Roarke
Kevin bacon, Guy Pierce or John Malcovich as Richard Troy... Good bad guys
Jamie King or Rita Ora for Trina. 😂

I think the guy who plays Poldark on PBS would be a great Roarke. He is dark and brooding and looks way good with his shirt off, if you know what I mean.

But Roarke is not dark and brooding lol. He looks like a fallen angel. He is ridiculously handsome with a "miracle-of-the-gods face" (he's even described as "pretty" in the book). Roarke's also tall and lean, not muscular. I think the only one who comes close in real life is Cody Fern regarding his body, facial features and intense blue eyes.
