The Sword and Laser discussion
Would it make sense to maybe break book discussion forums into "In-Progress" and "Finished Reading" for each book?

I think the way we work now is the least bad way to do it, though I would like a sort of explicit rule, whereby you can announce in the tread title that it's a spoiler thread and then none of the proceeding posts need spoiler tags.

It really does only work if spoilers are earmarked though. Maybe Veronica and Tom need to get the whips out?? lol!

I don't like spoilers, but I'd rather have a hassle-free discussion board than dividing it in too many sections or having to take extra care to mark the chapters in question. I guess with a little care we should be fine without any extra rules.

But then you have to check back every time so remind yourself what happened in what chapter. This is especially annoying if you actually read the discussed book a while ago, you may not even own a copy any more. I read a lot of threads while I commute or in work (bold, I know) so I wouldn't have the book with me to check what chapter something happens in.

I'll let it slide this time because I like being agreed with but fyi, I hate being called Katie ;)

Ooops...duly noted!! :)
"In-Progress" forum section posts would be discussion of things you could talk about without spoiling the book and if you hadn't finished the book but wanted to talking about something in the middle of the story then just be sure to use spoiler tags.
"Finished Reading" forum section posts would mostly be spoiler tag free and be centered around discussions of the book from the perspective of having already read the entire book. Titles would probably need to be phrased so as to not have any spoilers but that isn't that hard.
That way we can avoid maybe opening a thread that had nothing but collapsed spoiler tags. What we are doing now seems to be working but I thought I'd throw this thought out to be discussed as a possible alternative setup. This may be over complicating a system that is working pretty well right now but thought it might be worth the discussion.
