Pawlenty: "We can start by applying what I call 'The Google Test.' If you can find a good or service on the Internet, then the federal government probably doesn't need to be doing it."

Why do people who don't believe the government should be doing anything think they want to be in charge of said government?

Rebecca White (rebecca_white) | 1027 comments It does seem funny to me that government works best when people it's funded properly and administered by people who think it can and should do a good job. I really kind of think it's a conspiracy that when you put people in charge who don't want a lot of government, they underfund, undertrust, and otherwise undermine it so they can then say, "look, it doesn't work." But businesses have to make a profit. Government agencies don't. Look what happened to hospitals when they became for-profit. Now they want to do it with schools.

I guess I can't explain it to you...I guess I'm in the same position.

Stephen Colbert did a takedown of this, googling various things, and then finally googling Tim Pawlenty and finding him and agreeing the government doesn't need to be featuring Tim Pawlenty.

It is asinine.

People who want to shrink government want to be in government so they can shrink it.
