taita Hi Megan,

Already?!? LOL. So glad you enjoyed Mine Till Midnight. I loved that book too. Kleypas has a way of writing where you get sucked in. I loved each of the characters and their passion was so consuming. I had a feverish need to read through the rest of the Hathaway books. Please tell me how you like the others. So glad you enjoyed this first one!

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Hi Ari!
I went through your massive shelves (although I've seen worse), and here's what I came up with...

1. Sun (5 Stars): Memoirs of a Geisha ~ As I was going through your READ shelf this book kept popping into my head as something that would fit perfectly. And lucky me there it was on your TBR
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
2. Moon (satellite): You read the first three Outlander books, but you don't have Drums of Autumn on your TBR, it was a good one. You also have It Happened One Autumn on your TBR, but no sign of Secrets of a Summer Night. You definitely need to read it first. This was a great series! Now for a book that was actually on your TBR: Jealousy ~ I don't know anything about this series, but you seemed to have enjoyed the first two.
Drums of Autumn (Outlander, #4) by Diana Gabaldon Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers, #1) by Lisa Kleypas Jealousy (Strange Angels, #3) by Lilith Saintcrow
3. Mars (strong male): Another book that came to mind as I was going through your READ list was He Loves Lucy. I don't know if I'd consider him a really strong male (although he certainly wasn't weak), this just seemed like the best spot to put this book and I really wanted to add it somewhere on here :)
If you want a really strong male character you won't go wrong with A Kingdom of Dreams. Awesome book!
He Loves Lucy by Susan Donovan A Kingdom of Dreams (Westmoreland, #1) by Judith McNaught
4. Mercury (smallest planet): Sh*t My Dad Says ~ Short but, I'm told, a very funny read.
Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern
5. Jupiter (outer planet): Ok, this is really 'out there' for you, but I need you to keep an open mind... Faith & Fidelity is realistic love story about two straight men who discover an attraction to one another. *This is not erotica* It's a beautifully and respectfully written love story. It was recommended to me and I like to pass it on.
If you'd like something a little closer to your orbit give Neverwhere a try. It's a totally bizarre adventure, and a great read.
Faith & Fidelity (Faith, Love, & Devotion, #1) by Tere Michaels Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
6. Venus (hottest planet): Two very good, but very different series ~ City of Bones and Darkfever. I think they both live up to the hype.
City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning
7. Saturn (rings): From your TBR ~ Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake, New to you ~ One Reckless Summer Two great sigh worthy love stories.
Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers, #1) by Sarah MacLean One Reckless Summer (Destiny, #1) by Toni Blake
BUDDY READS
I have a really large list of books to read this month so I doubt I'll be able to do a buddy read, but...
8. Asteroid: Flowers from the Storm ~ I just added this to my TBR when I saw it on someone else's PIFM list. It looked really, really good.
Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale
9. Comet: The Princess Bride ~ I always tell myself I should read this book, but it never happens. I really should read this book.
The Princess Bride by William Goldman

Almost all of these books are from your TBR, if you'd like to have more books that are totally new to you, all you have to do is let me know. I like having a good balance so I'd completely understand.

HAPPY READING!!

Vi | 2794 comments Hi Brenda,

Thanks for waiting. Well, going through your shelves was fun. Actually, picking for you was both easy and tough. Easy because we both have few books in common (apart from HP and Twilight) and you haven't read most of my favorite books. Tough because I was not sure which books you would enjoy the most. And also because restraining myself was getting difficult. Anyway, here are my picks - most from your TBR and some not. If you don't like them, I'd be happy to redo.

1. Sun (star) Book from their TBR with 5 stars
1. Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas - I loved Kleypas's historicals. And when she wrote contemporaries, I was wary but so glad I read them. This book is all about the heroine - Liberty; you'll fall in love with her by the mid of the book. And the next two books are even more awesome.
2. Bitten by Kelley Armstrong - Another favorite UF/PNR series of mine. I read it on some whim and now I eagerly await each installation. A very interesting take on werewolves. And it's tight, action packed with great character growth. There's nothing more to say.
3. Something About You by Julie James - Another contemporary. It's light, fluffy romance at its best. Julie James is another one of my favorite authors.

2. Moon (satellite) Book from next in a series
1. Ceremony in Death - I see this book on my TBR. Go, Go. Read them. And you have rest of the series too. I'm so jealous.
2. Carnal Innocence by Nora Roberts - Given that you enjoy J.D Robb, maybe you should give Nora Roberts a try too. A good book to start with is Carnal Innocence. A contemporary set in the southern with light mystery elements. One of NR's best here.
3. Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon - You seem to have liked Outlander very much. Why not continue the series?

3. Mars (same symbol as male gender) Books by a Male Author
Ok, from your TBR, you should read:
1. A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore - I haven't read this book/author yet but you have many books of his in your TBR. I think it's time to give him a try and why not start with this?
2. Deception Point by Dan Brown - So I was in this action/thriller phase a few years back. Then Da Vinci Code got released. I gobbled it up, pestered my dad to buy his other books. I loved them. Give these books a chance too.
3. I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore - Movie. Need I say more?

4. Mercury (smallest planet) Short book from their TBR
1. The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole - This is on my TBR also. And whats more is that it is being given for free in some website. I think it can be found on the GR page itself. Plus, it's a start to a good series. A good way to sample the series, I'd say.
2. To Kill a Warlock by H.P. Mallory - The Cover looks good and so does the title. Plus, it's short.

5. Jupiter (outer planet) Books a bit out-there
I almost went crazy here but I did rein myself in. Some very light suggestions.
1. I see that there aren't much historical romance on your list. I'm suggesting The Shadow and the Star by Laura Kinsale or The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley. Laura Kinsale writes some awesome HR and the Shadow and the Star is my favorite. The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie is a good way to intro to the HR world.
2. Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson - My favorite fantasy romance series. It's completely romance set in a fantasy world that spans 5 books. Good news: they are all done. So it can be read continuously without any wait.
3. Don't Tell by Karen Rose - Karen Rose is a master at Romantic Suspense. Try this book and you will know why.

6. Venus (hottest planet) Popular or steamy book
I don't read very steamy books, so I'm gona go with popular book that are steamy also.
1. Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh - The most popular Psy-Changeling Series. It's a steamy PNR with about 10-11 books out now. It has a great world built with weres (sorry, no vampires :P). Get on the bandwagon and agonize with those of us waiting for the next book.
2. Dark Lover by J. R. Ward. This the infamous Black Dagger Brotherhood series. The brothers are hot, hot, hot. First book is so-so, but the next ones are better. I'm up till #4, planning on reading #5 soon.

7. Saturn (rings) Romantic books that made me sigh
1. Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase - Yep, another historical but a very good one. Jessica and Dain are too good with each other.
2. The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley - My second favorite by Kearsley. It has two love stories set in different time period that are intertwined with each other. The resolution of the two stories is just lovely.

OTHER SOLAR SYSTEM BODIES (BUDDY READS)
8. Asteroid: The Witch's Daughter by Paula Brackston has been around on my TBR for a while and I see it in yours as well.
9. Comet: How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper. There's already a group read going on for this book. Jane, Lisa, KarenH and I are participating. The starting date is tentatively 15th July. You're welcome to join us too :)

Well, that's it from me. Hope you like them. Happy Reading Brenda!

Sugar Daddy (Travises, #1) by Lisa Kleypas Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong Something About You by Julie James Ceremony in Death (In Death, #5) by J.D. Robb Carnal Innocence by Nora Roberts Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore Deception Point by Dan Brown I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies #1) by Pittacus Lore The Warlord Wants Forever (Immortals After Dark, #1) by Kresley Cole To Kill a Warlock (Dulcie O'Neil #1) by H.P. Mallory The Shadow and the Star (Victorian Hearts, #2) by Laura Kinsale The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul, #1) by C.L. Wilson Don't Tell (book #1) by Karen Rose Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward Lord of Scoundrels (Scoundrels, #3) by Loretta Chase The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley The Witch's Daughter by Paula Brackston How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper

Thank you for the awesome recs Alisha! I don't know exactly where I want to start, but I'm going to try to fit in as many as I can.

I think for certain I will read Four to Score (Stephanie Plum, #4) by Janet Evanovich Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor (Friday Harbor, #1) by Lisa Kleypas and Aftertime (Aftertime, #1) by Sophie Littlefield if I can find it. I'll also see what others I can fit in this month!

Caroline (pip_squeak) Hello Sue!

I'm picking for you this month! I must say that your read list is absolutely awesome:-) I hope you don't mind me going back for seconds and thirds my TBR will be heaving!!
Anyway on to your picks!

Sun Okay so, most of the books we have in common you have read! The only one you haven't I think I gave 3 stars to, but only as it was rather raunchy for me!! However I'm sure you will like it as it has a great plot it is A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole .

Moon I noticed that you have read the Hunger Games, I have just finished the sequel Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins so I thouhght this may be a good book for next in the series as its great and I couldn't put it down.

Mars So a book written by a male with a male lead character! Well I picked you one with both! James Pattersons The Jester by James Patterson I haven't read it, but am a great fan of James Pattersons and haven't read one yet that I don't like!

Mercury A short book from your TBR list is Slow Hands by Leslie Kelly

Jupiter I choose this book as I'm not sure that this is something that you may normally read it is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer . I absolutely loved this book and if you choose to read it I hope you enjoy it as much.

Venus I noticed that you haven't read Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger It seems to be a rather popular book at the moment and as you like this genre I thought you may like this! It is wonderfully quintessentially Victorian England.

Saturn A romantic book that made me sigh was The Birds and the Bees by Milly Johnson

BUDDY READS
Asteriod Beastly by Alex Flinn has been sitting idley on my Kindle for sometime, so if you would like to read it with me just let me know.

Comet I would so love to read Hilda the wicked witch by Paul Kater with you, Just my kinda book.

I hope that these recs are okay for you and that you find something that you like. If not please don't hesitate to ask me to repick x x

Hi Kate,

I finished my first rec from your list for me, [book:The Wrong Suitor
. It was a sexy, short read, too short! I liked it but wish it were a little longer. I bought Chasin' Eight and The Ghost on My Couch yesterday, so one of those will probably be next. Thanks again for the great picks!

message 460: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments ok DG - let me know what you think of these!

1. Sun(star)
Faefever - from your TBR that I gave 5 stars to
Between Shades of Gray - this isn't on your TBR, but it was a recent 5 star read for me

2. Moon (Satellite)
The Girl Who Played with Fire - I saw you read the first one - I found this one to be much more entertaining and there wasn't as much backstory to be told (but there is a bit of a cliff-hanger at the end)
Lover Mine time to read about JM and Xhex (please!)

C. Mars (male gender)
Neither of these guys are on your TBR, but when I go for male writers, I like high action, military type thrillers
Sandstorm - James Rollins - the first in his Sigma Force series
Ice Station - Matt Reilly - has always been a favorite of mine since he was a self-published Aussie author - his books are a non-stop roller coaster

D. Mercury
The Turn of the Screw - I have this on the pile to listen to, so why not let me know how it is
The Time Machine - or how about another short classic

5. Jupiter
Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings - I saw you've read some other Christopher Moore - aside from Lamb, this one is my favorite
The Sex Lives of Cannibals: Adrift in the Equatorial Pacific - if the title doesn't make you laugh, I don't know what will ;)
Don't Look Back - Steig Larsson's novels opened up a whole new world to me - so why not check out a nordic noir author that pre-dated him (and who I think is better!)

6. Venus
Lust - unseelie and the seven deadly sins, trying to find their true love - and most definately some HOT scenes throughout
Chasin' Eight - cowboys - do I need to say more
Love Slave for Two - Tymber Dalton is a must read for steamy
Doc: A Novel - i've seen this book mentioned a few times recently, and I picked it up, but haven't gotten to it yet - and it will fit for the Pick a Shelf Challenge

7. Saturn
Beautiful Disaster - this book will really make you question what is love (or at least it did for me)...and Laura will be joining us for Ask an Author this month
Letters From Home - I was on a bit of a WW2 reading kick the last few months, and this is one of the books I read - laughed and cried through-out

8. Asteroid
Gabriel's Ghost or Goddess of Light - i'm planning on reading both of these this month - so let me know if you want to join in

9. Comet
Cotillion (cause i'm on a bit of a Heyer kick) or Daughters of Terra (the picture and description really intrigued me)

hopefully there is something here that piques your interest...and let me know!

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Hi Mandy
Sorry for the delay :) We have a high compatibility rating so hopefully I have found something of interest for you to read... Let me know if you would like a repick :)

1. Sun (star)Book from their TBR you gave 5 stars. I’m a self-confessed Heyer addict. I find her books so amusing and relaxing. One of my favourites is the The Grand Sophy which is the only book on your TBR list that I rated 5 star!

2. Moon (satellite)Next in series book from their TBR. Demon Night by Meljean Brook or the next in the Psy Changling series Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh (one of my favourite authors).

3. Mars (same symbol as male gender)Book written by a male author or with a strong male character. Xenos (Warhammer 40,000) by Dan Abnett. I have no idea what universe they are talking about and it appears to be based on a game, but the average rating is 4.31 and you own it plus the next two books – Go for it! :) Or, for a band of alpha males, try Shadow Game by Christine Feehan – the first book in her Ghostwalker series. I’m up to book 8 and love the world she has created.

4. Mercury (smallest planet) - Short book from their TBR I’m not sure there is a short book on your TBR. The closest I could find (easily) was Married with Zombies by Jesse Peterson (244 pages). Or you could try out a book not on your TBR that I have read a couple of times (‘cos it’s short) Roane by Marie Harte – 160 pages – It is erotic PNR suspense (LOL).

5. Jupiter (outer planet)Book that’s a bit ‘out there’ Sex Lives of the Popes by Nigel Cawthorne. How obscure!

6. Venus (hottest planet)Popular / steamy book. Sweet Surrender by Maya Banks – I haven’t read this, but I know Banks writes a steamy story. For the popular angle, Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh: I had it on my shelf for over a year (pretty much ignoring it), then forced myself to pull it down – Wow. Loved it.

7. Saturn (rings)Sigh-worthy book – hopefully ring-included Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair. OK – I am sure there isn’t any matrimonial rings involved but it’s a fun story set in outer-space, with a hesitant alpha hero, feisty heroine, some cute pets, plenty of action, conspiracy and a secondary romance thrown in for free.

OTHER SOLAR SYSTEM BODIES (BUDDY READS)
8. Asteroid - Book that has been around your TBR for a while that you think you would both enjoy. Jacob by Jacqueline Frank or join a few of us reading How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper (It hasn’t been on my list for ages, but it seemed appropriate :)

9. Comet - Book from their TBR that caught your eye. Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas. I keep meaning to read more LK but get distracted by other books. If I have time, I’d love to buddy read this with you.

Great recs, Dee! I don't even know where to start! (I guess I should start at the beginning.)

I still haven't read 'Bloodfever' but I'm planning to read it this month. My library has 'Shades of Gray' in audio so I put myself on the list.

Funny story about 'The Turn of the Screw.' When my sister and I were about 8 and 9, we were watching TV by ourselves at night and 'The Turn of the Screw' came on. The title was a literal translation to Spanish (which sounds completely ridiculous) so I guess we thought it was something funny and decided to watch. I don't remember anything about the movie but my sister and I were scared shitless and my parents found us, hugging in the couch with our eyes closed (I don't know if we were screaming or anything, LOL!

Anyhow, I've been meaning to read the book for ages but now that you reminded me, I checked and my library has several versions in audio, one narrated by Simon Vance and some chick. I'm downloading it as we speak!

D.G. | 4477 comments Part II on my commentary on Dee's recs (LOL!)

I got a kick of you recommending me one dessert book and one Antarctica book for the Mars category. I'm putting the first one in my lists (I need to think about the second...for some reason, I really don't care about Antarctica!)

I added Don't Look Back, Beautiful Disaster and Letters From Home to my shelves. I'm really excited about 'Letters'...I love the Cyrano theme (I even recommended one book this month with it) so I see this one has it but in reverse!

Anyhow, I still don't know what I'll read. Most likely, whatever I get first. :)

Thanks for the great recs!

READ THE (CLASSICAL) PLANETS
1. Sun (star) Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh - I've seen that you've read the first 2 books of the Guild Hunter series. The third one is really worthy of your time.

2. Moon (satellite)Demon from the Dark by Kresley Cole - I cannot believe that you've read the whole series except the last 2 books. This one is so good , I've re-re-read it.

3. Mars (same symbol as male gender) Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews , Paradise by Judith McNaught or Shadow Game by Christine Feehan - Here you have 3 tipes of male Alpha :) Enjoy them *grin*

4. Mercury (smallest planet) - Magic in the Wind (Drake Sisters, #1) by Christine Feehan - The start of an interesting series.

5. Jupiter (outer planet)Skin Game by Ava Gray or Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke's Heart by Sarah MacLean - These 2 books have original heroines

6. Venus (hottest planet)The Iron King by Julie Kagawa ,Something About You by Julie James or Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione - What can I say? Lots of hotness here :))

7. Saturn (rings)Sweet Revenge by Nora Roberts or PS, I Love You by Cecilia Ahern - Incredibly romantic *sigh*

OTHER SOLAR SYSTEM BODIES (BUDDY READS)
8. Asteroid: Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

9. Comet:Demon Possession by Kiersten Fay

Archangel's Consort (Guild Hunter, #3) by Nalini Singh Demon from the Dark (Immortals After Dark, #10) by Kresley Cole Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Paradise by Judith McNaught Shadow Game (GhostWalkers, #1) by Christine Feehan Magic in the Wind (Drake Sisters, #1) by Christine Feehan Skin Game (Skin #1) by Ava Gray Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke's Heart (Love By Numbers, #3) by Sarah MacLean The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa Something About You by Julie James Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione Sweet Revenge by Nora Roberts PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips Demon Possession (Shadow Quest, #1) by Kiersten Fay

I loved Deeper than Midnight!! Smooth Talking Stranger was a five star read for me. I've been putting it off for a while, probably because I wasn't sure how it could top Blue Eyed Devil, but this one was just as good in a different way. I still prefer her historicals, but I'll seriously read ANYTHING Kleypas writes...she's just that great to me!

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments SG - if you would like a non-antarctica one, then I recommend Seven Deadly Wonders (or Seven Ancient Wonders) depending on where in the world you are - they bounce around the world in it - would recommend having the second and third ones ready to go though...but Ice Station isn't a typical antarctica book

VI!! Thank you for the amazing recommendations!
I've just downloaded Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas so I'm going to read that one. First but I've saved all of your recommendations and hopefully I will get around to reading all of them sooner than later.

I really would love to Buddy Read How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf with you and the other ladies as well. Keep me posted!
