Hi Taita. Thanks for the great picks! I am going to try and read them all! But I think I will start off with Sun. I actually have read Dragonfly in Amber. But I am on the third or fourth book in the Outlander series so I will pick that one. Definetley one of those series I have never finished. I definteley will buddy read the Kiss of the Highlander with you! It looks great! Thanks again! This is my first month doing these challenges. Luckily my July is looking pretty open so plenty of time for some summer reading!

Vi | 2794 comments Hi Karen,

Whoops, forgot to reply to this. Glad you liked the picks.

I think I'm a bit overloaded this month as of now. My company's sending me to training to take a 8(!!) hrs exam from next week. I suspect I may not getting much reading done during this(July) month. I can only tell you after 17th whether I can commit. So you go ahead with the reading first.

~KarenH~ wrote: "Wow Vi, great picks! The only thing wrong with them is I'm going to have way too much trouble narrowing it down, and they won't all fit into my other challenges. ;)

Right off the top I know I'll be reading How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf this month, and I'd love to read it with you! Beyond that I know I'll read more, there are too many good picks not to - I'm just not sure which ones yet."

Oh my gosh!!! I want to read them all!! I can fit several of these into other challenge categories, so I anticipate reading a few this month! I would love to buddy read either Unveiled or Red-Headed Stepchild with you, so just let me know which you want to do! I would buddy read Deeper than Midnight, but I already know I'm going to devour that one on July 1. Thanks for the awesome picks...I knew we had similar tastes and had no doubt you would hook me up! :)

Candace (candacej73) | 4 comments Cynthia, you gave some great suggestions! I'm sorry you were working with such limited ideas. I'm still new here and haven't had time to build up my files. This challenge has helped a lot with that. Reading through everyones lists has given me lots to add lol.

I put 3 books on hold at my library! I tried for 4 but they didn't have Unveiled Unveiled (Turner, #1) by Courtney Milan in their system. I will chat with them when I go in. Maybe they can order it for me. :D

The 3 that I did get are: Daughter of the Forest Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier , The Marsh King's Daughter The Marsh King's Daughter by Elizabeth Chadwick and The Hunger Games The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins .

Thanks again for the great suggestions. I can't wait to get started!

Ari (moochew12) | 159 comments Howdy Renee!
Hope these are okay, if not please tell me.
1. Sun (star) –
To Kill a Mockingbird. A timeless classic. I should read this again, read it when I was much younger.

2. Moon (satellite) –
Wintergirls is supposed to be really good.

3. Mars (same symbol as male gender) –
Of Mice and Men. I love this! A must. (I really laid on the classics as recommendations.)

4. Mercury (smallest planet) -
The Giving Tree. A simple story that has to be read at least once.

5. Jupiter (outer planet) –
The Help. I think this is a bit different from your “cup of tea,” but it is a newer classic. Or Enclave this reminds me of The City of Ember.

6. Venus (hottest planet) –
The Time Traveler's Wife

7. Saturn (rings) –
One Day. Not sure I sighed, but this is really good. (Sandy recommended it to me last month.) Plus it’s becoming a movie in August. Read it and then watch.=P

OTHER SOLAR SYSTEM BODIES (BUDDY READS)

8. Asteroid:
Lolita of course we could read a classic, but eh it’s summer.=P

9. Comet:
In Leah's Wake, such a nice cover!

Happy reading.

message 361: by Thenia (new)

Thenia | 288 comments Valerie ~Varuca~, I picked books already in your TBR list, so you'll probably find something you'd like to read in here:

1. Sun -- On the Edge - Ilona Andrews: You've read and liked Kate Daniels, so I'm thinking you'll enjoy this series, too. I've read this one and the world is interesting.

2. Moon -- Every Boy's Got One - Meg Cabot: You've given 4 stars to both the first and second books of this series so chances are you'll enjoy the third one, too.

3. Mars -- On the Road - Jack Kerouac/Bloodsucking Fiends - Christopher Moore: Male authors both in your TBR.

4. Mercury -- Angels' Pawn - Nalini Singh: Short book in the Guild Hunter series

5. Jupiter -- Can You Keep a Secret? - Sophie Kinsella: This one isn't in your TBR, but I read it recently and it made me laugh quite a bit so I thought I'd spread the love!

6. Venus -- The Mane Event - Shelly Laurenston: Popular book in its genre by an increasingly popular author

7. Saturn -- See Jane Score - Rachel Gibson: You've read a few books from the Chinooks Hockey Team series but not this one. It's fun!

Buddy Reads:
8. Asteroid -- Desire Unchained - Larissa Ione/The Geek Job - Eve Langlais: Both these books are in our TBR lists and I wouldn't mind reading one of them with you if you feel like it

9. Comet -- The Pregnancy Test - Erin McCarthy: This one caught my eye and I've already read a couple from this author and enjoyed them so I'd love reading that one with you, too!

I hope you find something you feel like reading in there somewhere... If not, I can suggest a few that are new to you. Let me know about the buddy reads and of course, about your final pick for July!

Happy reading!

KimKirt | 1638 comments Hi Amanda! Thanks for some great picks!

I think I'm going to go with:

The Princess Bride because I really need to read this classic.

The Hunger Games because they are actually filming part of the movie not far from where I live. I'm 3rd in line on the library hold list, so not sure I'll get it by month end.

The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie Buddy read. I actually recommended this as a buddy read to the person I picked for and have already ordered it so woo hoo! I can do a two-fer here and we can all buddy read it! I'll let you know when it comes in, okay?

Thanks again, I'll let you know if I get to any other of your recommendations. I'm definitely going to continue on in the J R Ward series.

I can tell you for sure that I'll read Demon Possession, since I heard it resembles a very dear series to me(Sirantha Jax).
The Hunger Games was recommended to me in the past but I keep putting it off for some reason. Maybe it's because it's a YA book..

Words cannot express how anxious I am to see the film rendition. Part of me is procrastinating with reading the last book in the trilogy because I'm hopeless & sappy enough to wish for a HEA, but something tells me it's going to be a bittersweet ending.

Pollyanna....thanks for these fabulous recs....

I have actually already read the first 3 books of the Twilight series...just haven't gotten them on my list...I guess.

Im am going to read Pride and Prejudice....because I really should have already read it...

I will also read Lord of the Flies....for the same reason.....I have gotten my local library to put Vampire Academy on hold...so I will also read that one.

Now for the BUDDY READ....I don't actually have either of these books...and my local library doesn't have them...but I have asked for an intralibrary loan on both....so which ever one you would like to read....that one it will be!!

1)Sun(star)-Magic Bitesby Ilona Andrews. This was the only book you had on your TBR list that I absolutly loved.

2)Moon(Satellite)-The Darkest Pleasureby Gena Showalter.

3)Mars(male gender symbol)-Lovesongby Alex Miller.

4)Mercury(smallest Planet) With a lovely 25 pages i chose Dark-Hunter Christmasby Sherrilyn Kenyon.

5)Jupiter(Outer Planet)- I've thought about this one and came up with Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder.

6)Venus(hottest planet)-Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

7)Saturn(rings)- Normally I don't read books that make me sigh unless its a sigh of frustration and those I don't usually finish. But if you want a nice well rounded happy ending then How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper is cute, funny and has a little murder mystery.

8)Asteroid - Shadow Game by Christine Feehan

1. Sun -Kiss of the Highlander is an awesome book. I would recommend any of the books in this series.

2. Moon - You gave another Jennifer Ashley book a 5 star rating, so I thought The Many Sins of Lord Cameron would be a good one for you to go ahead and read next.

3. Mars - Raziel is a very strong lead male character. Dark and tortured. Very nice. :)

4. Mercury - The Duchess's Tattoo: Thoughts on THE AMERICAN HEIRESS caught my eye while browsing through your TBR pile. I went ahead and added it to mine too.

5. Jupiter - Into the Beautiful North is a book that I've heard alot about. I didn't see anything similar on your TBR pile and thought maybe this would be something you'd be interested in reading.

6. Venus - You would be hard pressed to find a book much steamier than Passion.

7. Saturn - My True Love is a little steamy but still very romantic.

So sorry for the late post. Please let me know if you would like me to do any re-picks.

1. Sun (star) – Book from their TBR you gave 5 stars or if you haven't read any, one with a high rating
Stray (Shifters, #1) by Rachel Vincent I have really enjoyed this series and have purchased the last two books to finish

2. Moon (satellite) – Book from their TBR that’s the next in a series they already started or from an author they already liked and enjoyed.
Masquerade (Blue Bloods Series #2) by Melissa de la Cruz

3. Mars (same symbol as male gender) – Book written by a male author or with a strong male character
The Duke (Knight Miscellany, #1) by Gaelen Foley This looked like it would be a great read

4. Mercury (smallest planet) - Short book from their TBR
Frost Moon (Skindancer, #1) by Anthony Francis It was one of the shortest on your list

5. Jupiter (outer planet) – Book that’s a bit ‘out there’ either because it has an original premise, a funky title or because it’s something they wouldn’t normally read
Death by George Pendle It took me a second and I had to read the description.

6. Venus (hottest planet) – Popular book they haven’t read yet or a steamy book (if they like that sort of thing.)
Divine By Mistake (Partholon, #1) by P.C. Cast I really like PC Cast and I noticed that you haven't read her other 2 series. I would highly recommend them.

7. Saturn (rings) – Romantic book that made you sigh (and hopefully included a ring.)
Someone to Watch Over Me (Bow Street Runners, #1) by Lisa Kleypas I noticed you have read her other series. I loved this one.

8. Asteroid: Book that has been around your TBR for a while that you think you would both enjoy
The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) by Kelley Armstrong I noticed this is also on your TBR or maybe Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon

9. Comet: Book from their TBR that caught your eye
First Comes Marriage (Huxtable Quintet, #1) by Mary Balogh

Thanks for all the great picks. I added a lot of them to my tbr shelf. I think I am going to do Moon Called and One Dance with a Duke. Let me know if you want to do One dance with a duke as a buddy read. If you are unable to that is okay.

Julie | 56 comments Hey Lady Leah Westcliff,
I'm sorry it took so long to post your picks. Problems with internet. I'm using my phone to type this list. We don't have many books in common and I don't pursue the paranormal category. So,I hope you find something from your TBR choices and consider the ones you don't usually choose. Here goes:

1. Sun-Beyond the Highland Mist. By: Karen Marie Moning
2. Moon - Then Came You. By: Lisa Kleypas
3. Mars - I Am Number Four. By: Pittacus Lore
4. Mercury - The Sugar Queen. By: Sarah Addison Allen
5. Jupiter - Obsession. By: Karen Robards (someone you've never tried - this is one that races the heart)
6. Venus - The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. By: Stieg Larson (popular 1st book of the series)
7. Saturn - A Knight in Shining Armor. By: Jude Deveraux (sigh..one of my faves and you haven't tried this author)

Buddy reads:
8. Asteroid - Jane Eyre (I've wanted to read this this year and then see the new movie. Maybe we can try this one. )
9. Comet - The Sweet Far Thing. By: Libba Bray (I would love to start with this one because I just got it from the library and would like to complete the series.)

Please let me know what you think about the picks. I would be glad to "repick" if you want other choices.

Happy reading!
Julie

Leah (leahkarge) Emily, I can definitely read One Dance with a Duke with you! About what time of the month do you want to read it?

Julie, thank you for the wonderful picks. I think I am going to read Then Came You, because I just love Lisa Kleypas! :)

Brenda (bmass) **Melaine**

HOLY LORD you have so many books in your TBR list so this took me so much longer than I expected. I apologize it did take me so long but I loved going through your list and I stole a bunch of books!

Hopefully you find something in this list you will like.

1. Sun (star) – I LOVE Lorelei James and her BlackTop Cowboys Series is really good. Corralled is the First books in the series.

2. Moon (satellite) – I really enjoyed The Jane Jameson Series by Molly Harper. Book #2 in the Series is Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men. Jane’s family cracks me up. They are so dysfunctional it’s not even funny!

3. Mars (same symbol as male gender) – The Lost Symbol (Robert Langdon #3) by Dan Brown. A wonderful book based in my hometown of Washington D.C. I liked that this one was less Religious then the first two, and I love the lore and history of The Free Masons.

4. Mercury (smallest planet) – Slow Hands by Leslie Kelly- So it’s not exactly short but since it seems like you seem to read you probably read fast like I do. This books FLYS by.

5. Jupiter (outer planet) –Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes- A Classic story that seems out of place on your romance heavy TBR. I still remember reading this book in 8th grade which was 14 years ago.

6. Venus (hottest planet) –One for the Money by Janet Evanovich – Such a wonderful series! I just finished reading #17 and I’m still not bored with this series.

7. Saturn (rings) – The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton. AMAZING! Alpha man football players are one of my weaknesses! This is a great combination of hot steamy sex and two people trying to figure out how to deal with their building relationship.

OTHER SOLAR SYSTEM BODIES (BUDDY READS)
8. Asteroid: Heat Wave (Nikki Heat #1) Richard Castle - I have both of the “Castle” books and I’ve wanted to read them for a while, I just haven’t gotten to it. The show is fantastic so I hope the books are up to par.

9. Comet: A Texas State Of Mind by Ann DeFee. I have been reading a lot of Cowboy/Western romances recently and this one have a high rating.

Julie | 56 comments Hey KarenH,
I just saw my picks this evening. Internet problems. Thank you for so many choices. I like to try new authors. I am going to try to pick up The Help and the Virgin River books first. (You know how it is..you always want what you don't have.) I would love to read Cherish together. If I have time for some if the others, I'll let you know. Anyway, thanks again!
