Kurt There are so many good books out there that are just begging to be made into movies! Personally, I was extremely elated to see "Atlas Shrugged" finally made for the silver screen, and setting the time frame to the more modern day only adds to the importance of the message! But the one book I think I would really enjoy seeing on the screen would have to be Dean Koontz' Odd Thomas series! Great characters and great story line... that's what makes an interesting movie.

That's a tough call. I've yet to see a movie that was better than the book it was based on. Some are as good as, but not better. To be honest, I would rather see some original movies than ones based on books, I'd rather read the book than see the movie to begin with.

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell -- I'd love to see it done as a series, much like HBO is doing with A Game of Thrones.

We signed up for HBO just to watch it, LOL. That type of book normally isn't my kind of thing -- although my husband loves them -- but I have to admit the series is really good. I'm loving it so far!

Irene (smilingi) | 19 comments Any of the Lee Child books with Jack Reacher, the Michael Connelly books with Harry Bosh, Ian Rankin's series with Rebus (I know they made some TV programs with that character)

Joana (joanathebooknerd) Eon: Dragoneye Reborn and Eona: The Last Dragoneye
I love those two books

Ellen (elliearcher) Maisie Dobbs-good period atmosphere & a great role for a woman & some terrific character parts.

Also, Aunt Dimity's Death would be fun. Although it might be more fun as a tv series. But I could imagine it as a film.

Colby (colbz) Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher would translate greatly to the silver screen if it was well done.

Also would love to see When God Was a Rabbit by Sarah Winman , but it would take so much to do it well.

Glimpse by Carol Lynch Williams , The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner would all make awesome movies too. Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini

Robert Clear (robertclear) | 10 comments It may already have been done, but I'd like to see Patrick Neate's The London Pigeon Wars: A Novel made into a film.

RB (rblindberg) The Passage by Justin Cronin. Hands down, it could be so awesome if done right!

Colby (colbz) Ehh...whatever. She better step up to the plate and PERFORM in a role like that.

message 20: by Veronika (new)

Veronika (vforveronika) Yeah, she'd better or the movie will be horrible!

message 21: by Dana (new)

Dana (smurfyshark) I would love to see The Dragonriders of Pern series adapted to film. (but only if they did it properly... especially the casting for Lessa)

John Raikkonen (rantala) | 2 comments I think that LIFE is an AMAZING SONG would make a superb PG movie in the tunes of Tom Sawyer. It is about a young boy's life in Finland and Sweden during the war time and later at age seventeen coming to America. The book is a wonderful true story.

I agree. What a great series. It's been a while since I've read them, must read them again soon. Thanks for the reminder.

Philip Athans (philathans) | 36 comments There are SO MANY GREAT SF/fantasy/horror novels that could finally be done well in the era of CGI epics:

Frederick Pohl's Gateway, Larry Niven's Ringworld.

They might finally actually be making Rendezvous with Rama (Arthur C. Clarke).

If done well by a sensitive director, Keith Donohue's The Stolen Child could be as brilliant a movie as it was a novel.

message 27: by Linda (new)

Linda I just finished reading The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell and I think it would make a great movie.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) The Banned and the Banished series by James Clemens
