Laura | 56 comments Is anyone else reading the Canongate Myth Series? http://www.themyths.co.uk/ They are having current authors retell the myths.

I'm currently reading Alexander McCall Smith's Dream Angus.

I'm having a hard time finding some of the books from the series though. Lion's Honey by Grossmon (a retelling of Samson) and Helmet of Horror by Pelevin (retelling of Theseus and the Minotaur). Anyone spotted them anywhere?

Melanie Hi Laura- I have been slowly collecting the series, I have the first five including Lion's Honey and Helmut of Horror. I found them pretty easily but that was about a year or so ago (got them from Amazon.com). Three more came out a little while ago that I still need to get. What do you think of them? So far I have read Dream Angus and The Penelopiad (by Margaret Atwood) which I really liked.

Laura | 56 comments I really liked The Penelopiad as well. The way she used the Greek chorus concept was great.

I've also read Weight. It was a bit strange but still an interesting twist on the myth.

I'm looking forward to checking out Michel Faber's Fire Gospel.

Glad to know Lion's Honey and Helmet of Horror are out there somewhere!
