I share your frustration Emma-Louise. I live in Australia and there are many books not available to me - some never will be as the rights are never sold here while some are delayed for months or years.
As for what we can do - not much really. Aside from piracy of course. I do try to register any affected books with Lost Book Sales but it's actually quite hard for me to find out what books I can't buy. If I search audible for example I only ever see the books that are available to me because audible knows I am in Australia so they don't show me books I'm not allowed to buy.

I shall check out the site you mentioned. Thank you
Another good reads member told me about www.ioffer.com
(My asking what we can do? was my polite way of maybe fretting out other loop holes) :) (Blush) or maybe try some people power with numbers, as numbers equal money for Publishers
Thanks for answering nice to know I’m not alone in my frustrations.
Sending you good thoughts, happy reading (& listening :) x

I guess it seems worse because while we can all chat together we can't read together.

Audible's "gifting" center is down currently but I did send an email a while ago to see if I could buy a US only audio as a gift for a friend in Euro. They refused to say if that was going to be possible once "gifting" opens back up. You can "gift" from itunes, does anyone know if there are Geo restrictions on gifts from them?
The only audio books I have are from audible and there's no way for me to share/swap these legally, regardless of how much I might want to. If I'm going to break the law and read books I can't get hold of legally I don't think I'll share my plans in a public space like this one :)

The best legal solution IMHO would be to get a friend in that country to mail you CDs. Not perfect by any means, but about the best you can do until publishing rights are established in your country!
