i think its more cause Edward is very dramatic about well everything, about being a vampire, about bella, about turning bella into a vampire, ect... where as Jace would find somthing to kill and just get over it.
and Jace is a real bad boy not a good guy but a Vampire.
could make a pro and con list with these two :P

Edward is very much an introvert and he's had over a century to study his own reactions to ::everything::. On top of which, he can read minds. So he gets to obsess - a lot.
If Jace were in Edward's position, he would've turned or at least tried more overtly to turn Bella.
Jace is a bad boy on the outside but very conflicted internally, which makes for a much more interesting character in the long run.
Such good comments Pandaink - thank you!

But you made a good point about Edward you cant help but love how he is so romantic and yes the mind reading does help, sort of like "what a women wants" meets vampire dating.
Sophie said "Jace is a bad boy on the outside but very conflicted internally, which makes for a much more interesting character in the long run".
I feel the same way! every time he opens up you cant help being glued to the pages.
i think our love for Jace is also caused by the pain of REAL forbiden love can making people really feel for him, not that i'm saying that Edward and Bella didnt have a forbiden love it's just well... if he didnt think too much about it, Edward would of just turned her into a Vamp and not have to deal with the drama of new moon and live happy forever together. it just wouldnt make a good story.
where as with Jace and Clary it is soooooo painful because the idea is soooooo wrong yet you cant help feeling like burning your book when he says "i'll just be your bother". and every time they kiss we all let out a tiny scream (well i do). SO MUCH TENTION!

Edward was so persistent on not turning Bella into a Vampire and he fights that idea for the three books and even in some bits of BD. But he does in the end anyway. It was kind of a waste of time. He could've just done it there and then.
But you're right Sophie, Jace is more impulsive and had he been in Edward's position he would've turned her immediately when the request was made.
But the interesting thing about Jace is that, he is not like Edward- which have to be the best it.
There is no corniness and drama and definitely no repeats. He says it, without worrying about the others. The Mortal Instruments series cuts to the chase without having to bring more and more ideas.
Twilight had a lot of questions, but not one that stuck out straight away. Although the question was "Would Edward turn Bella?" There were other barriers to that that were pointless.. college, what her parents thought, her "thirst"
Whereas TMI have one.
"Are they related or not?"
Everything is tied to it. The general question itself, Jocelyn waking up, their gifts, Valentine..
The book is just daring to go to places that others haven't gone. It's dangerous and forbidden.

Then like the week after I picked up City of Bones and that was like a trillion times better than the Twilight series. I was cured of Twilight after COB. It's just so much better in every way. Btu I don't really need to tellyou guys how great The Mortal Instruments is. : >

with the mortal instruments, they just kept getting better! :D

until i found the mortal instruments series
i fell in Love with Jace
Mortal Instruments all the way
Twilight is ..mhh...okay .. but Its too over-rated
I liked breaking dawn the most but you have to move on Twilight was published in 2005 that was 5 years ago there are better more intersting books out there like the MI series. (But the MI will never be overrated) ;D

I was once a fellow twilight lover and was obsessed with it but that was all about two years ago.
The minute I read City of Bones I already loved it much more. It was more interesting and it was the first book that got me into fantasy and I thank it for that.
Twilight is an ok book but its a complete wonder to me why it has gotten as popular as it is now.
o yeah and Clary can take on Bella any day.

I totally agree with you
I'm in love with both series. ^^

I don't like either of them (i'm talking about Bella and Clary) but MI is for sure better than Twilight, like Rilly said anything is better than Twilight.

~love them both! I really enjoy reading twilight
as much as a enjoy reading mortal instrument!LoL~

that's how I fell in love with Jace! He's just so mysterious and arrogant but inside he can fall in love too! :D
