Janice (jamasc) Quick! Throw out the cigarettes. I think RA is losing his mind... or something else that he's willing to share.

message 152: by Cyril (new)

Cyril Please quit, Amber. These images are searing into my brain.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Holy crap, I've sent RA off the deep end. I am getting my act together!

message 155: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) How's it coming, Amber? We need an update. :)

message 156: by ~Geektastic~ (last edited Jul 28, 2011 11:55AM) (new)

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Sorry! I've been distracted by all of the other TC topics lately. I won't say I've kicked it completely, but all in all I've done over a week smoke-free, but not necessarily with the days back-to-back.

message 157: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Keep up the good work. You can do it.

message 158: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Oooooo, do I smell paint fumes? Did someone get out the bronze body paint?

message 159: by ~Geektastic~ (new)

 ~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments They don't entirely count when they're non-consecutive, I will admit. It's just more encouraging, I guess. I'm such a wimp!

message 160: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Keep going Amber. The number of consecutive days should be getting bigger anyway. Kick it! Kick it!

No!! It's time to STOP BUYING smokes.

Every time you buy a pack (which you shouldn't be) think of what you could do with that money instead, like put it into an IRA.

Michael Phil wrote: "Next time you buy smokes, buy a brand you hate. One that tastes like donkey shit."

I'm not sure I'd try that. I bought a pack of menthols once when I was trying to quit and discovered that I didn't mind smoking menthols. And when I really wanted a cigarette, I would have taken dried donkey shit rolled in paper. In fact I once did something sort of like that but not really. I cut some grass from the yard and put it in a brown lunch bag and dried it in the drier. Then I rolled it up in a portion of the lunch bag and smoked it. All that made me do was go and get a pack of cigarettes.

How goes the non-smoking?"

Not good. I keep falling off the wagon. I'm losing my steam mostly, so I need to build up my resolve.

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Sorry to hear it, Amber. It's hard to break longstanding habits under the best of circumstances, and if you're under a lot of stress it only becomes more difficult. Maybe you can summon up the willpower for another attempt soon. Good luck.

message 167: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Don't give up. It will be so worth it in the long run.

Around here, the drug stores sell Winchester Little cigars. They look like cigarettes but brown, are packaged like cigarettes, are slightly cheaper than cigarettes, and taste absolutely nasty.

It's not "not good", it's just not time for you right now is all.

 ~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments So here's a random update for you:

I quit smoking, cold-turkey, no regrets. It's been over a week.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments It will actually be really easy to keep it up. Turns out, the easiest way to quit smoking is to get knocked up! :)

Wahayyy, Amber! Well done!

I'd like to quit too, though I only smoke 3-ish times a day. But, until I get Mr. Amy to quit I probably never will. I've cut him down by half...I'm working on it. He now gets a daily allowance and I dole them out to him. :)

It is definitely harder with other smokers in the same house, but in order to do his part, my husband has to quit too. He's having a harder time without the same motivation, but he's doing ok.

message 179: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Here's to knocking up!

message 180: by [deleted user] (new)

Knocking up? As in chapping on someone's door, or getting them pregnant?

message 181: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Chapping?

It's always awkward making these sorts of announcements (at least for me), so I figured an early misdirection was the way to go.

Thanks for the congrats everyone! I'm elated and terrified!

message 189: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) We're happy for you, Amber.

message 190: by Jonathan (new)

message 195: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I'm so confused. I don't really know what I did wrong.

message 196: by [deleted user] (new)

Freaked me out, that's what!

I thought we were still just talking about smoking!

message 197: by Jammies (new)
