Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments You know you're GR obsessed when:

You're organizing your books, friends and groups when you should be organizing your house.

You've been reading all day and you go on GR as a reward for your disipline.

You LIKE being sick because then you can go on GR for almost the entire day.

Your friends tell you that you need to get out more. And you snap "I'm an indoor person and I like it! God damn it!"

You'll be talking to someone and then you will mention Lori or someone else on GR, and go on a rant, and the person you're talking to will ask you "who are they?"

You think everyone comes on when you log off.

You get ALL the inside jokes but you welcome the newbies with a happy heart, because you are secure in your rep. (Yes, Lori, my gansta is worse).

Your book buying addiction goes through the roof.

You try not to join any other "social networks" because you're too busy with GR as it is!

You go to the library your shoulder hurts from lugging so many books.

You can't possibly understand why people don't like books.

When you're out, you obsess about how many posts you've missed.

Lori's:

When you get home from your latest book-buying expedition, you rush to the computer to log them all, and they arent even out of the BAG yet!

You have been on GR all day talking about what book you are reading or going to read and now have no time to read the book.

Ariyati's:

Login in the evening (after work) and keep at GR till almost 01AM just to read what thread has been on the group, to keep up dated and get more book ref ;D

Go to book store 2x a week, or 5 times a month .. keep adding number of books you have.. have a bunch of books to read next to your bed... and buy no clothes at all this month ;p

Laura's:

You know you're obsessed when your TEENAGER says you spend too much time on the internet!

Julianne's:

You can't start a new book (or do anything else) until you update your GR review of the book you just finished. Even if it's 2am

Kellie's:

You are sitting in your Barcalounger with your book and your laptop on and open on your lap.
It's on Goodreads.

While you are reading your book, you keep refresing the site to see if there are any new posts!!

Pumpkin's:

You have put in a billion books and now think constantly about the reviews you need to catch up on.

Also, enduring the snide commments from former favorite game site because you are reading or playing with the book shelves instead of playing trivia!

Jackie's:

Your behind at work because you've been busy reading/responding to GR posts and looking for new book recommendations.

Abigail's:

You've forgotten your password because you never log out. And when you leave your computer to make dinner or something you leave the GR page up so the first thing you can do when you get back is update your group list to see how many new posts there are since...10 minutes ago...

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE A GR ADDICT!

Haa haa Emma,,,, did you just make that up? I love it! So true.

Here are a few to add:

When you get home from your latest book-buying expedition, you rush to the computer to log them all, and they arent even out of the BAG yet!

You have been on GR all day talking about what book you are reading or going to read and now have no time to read the book.

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 382 comments You totally beat me to it, Emma! I've been bouncing this idea around in my head for a few days and just haven't gotten around to typing it out.

Great minds must think alike! :-)

message 10: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments :D Aweesome! It just came to mind and I started typing.

message 20: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments You are sitting in your Barcalounger with your book and your laptop on and open on your lap.
It's on Goodreads.
While you are reading your book, you keep refresing the site to see if there are any new posts!!

Here's your sign!
"You're addicted to Goodreads"

message 21: by Angela (new)

Angela (angelamclaughlin) You have put in a billion books and now think constantly about the reviews you need to catch up on.AND I agree with Lori about being on the site so much that you are not actually reading books, just planning what books to read.
This is when audio books come into play!
Also, enduring the snide commments from former favorite game site because you are reading or playing with the book shelves instead of playing trivia!
My sign is in BOLD PUMPKIN COLORS! And I AM PROUD!

message 22: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments LOL! Or you even LIKE being sick because then you can go on GR for almost the entire day.

My sign would be flashing purple, and screaming at me to "get help".

message 23: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Ekkk...I'm definitely obsessed. I'll even add: Your behind at work because you've been busy reading/responding to GR posts and looking for new book recommendations. Yup, that's me.

message 24: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments So true..............

Or,

Your friends tell you that you need to get out more. And you snap "I'm an indoor person and I like it! God damn it!"

Hehehe.

Abigail (42stitches) | 360 comments Hehe...
You've forgotten your password because you never log out. And when you leave your computer to make dinner or something you leave the GR page up so the first thing you can do when you get back is update your group list to see how many new posts there are since...10minutes ago...

message 26: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments I do that!!!!! Hahaha.

message 27: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 501 comments Lori, I do the exact same thing with the logging. My husband gets a big kick out of me doing it. He's on GR too so you'd think he'd understand...

message 28: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments You HAVE to add in all your books immediately! When I go on, I have to add them all, and then go to the Splurge and Reading threads to tell everybody!

message 29: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments Emma, I do that in the exact same order too! Buy books, add them to GR, go on the threads and share.

message 30: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Exactly! And the threads in that order! (If I've starting reading one of the books, which usually, I haven't).

message 31: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

Lori (tnbbc) | 10624 comments Mod
Damn, its like you are all inside my head. I do that too.... Buy, Log, and update the Current read and splurge posts....

Haahaa... we are all nuts!

message 32: by Connie (new)

Connie | 188 comments I just wanna know where the support group is for this affliction? Then again, maybe I don't...

I'll wear my sign proudly!

message 33: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Boisture | 121 comments Emma, this one:
"You try not to join any other "social networks" because you're too busy with GR as it is!" is sooooo me. I have myspace that I haven't been on in weeks. All four of my siblings are on Facebook and bugging me to join them, and I'm like "I don't have time what with keeping up with my blog and being social on Goodreads!" (not to mention the whole having a job and a child thing....and that pesky eating. Eating meals keeps me from being on Goodreads, LOL!)

message 34: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Haha! Don't forget sleeping Nikki! Yeah, I've just joined livejournal, nerdfighters and YA for Obama but I have NO IDEA how I will keep up! LOL.

Lori: So true, but I love it! Being nuts is awesome!

Connie: Yeah, I don't think I want that support group either! :)

message 35: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Okay, I have a new one:

You promise yourself that you'll log off and go read in an hour, but as soon as that time comes, you forget about reading at all that day!

I've done this, MANY times. Including right now.

message 36: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1626 comments I am holding the page right now!!!

message 37: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Haha. Ken, you'd be surprised. If you spend ALL day on here (like I have because I'm sick), there are 15-20 minute breaks. I rearrange my shelves then, when it's slower.

message 38: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1626 comments I am with you Leppaluto. I am usually on GR at work and find myself here checking comments than actually working. I too need to add more to my shelves.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL. We are all peas in a pod!

message 40: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Isn't it great! :)

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh Yeah!

message 42: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments I love this thread.
It's nice to know y'all have the same habits.
Although, I have been adding to my "bookshelf" little by little.
I like to sit down and say...OK it's 8:07PM, I can stay on goodreads till 8:30PM and then go read.
I never stick to it though. I am always pushing up the time.

message 43: by Emma (last edited Sep 25, 2008 05:12PM) (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Yeah, you'll "attempt" to use disipline on your addiction, but you never actually USE it.

It's always nice to know there are people who have the same interests as you.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

No discipline here. Actually I need to get better. I at least am good about reading to my kids before they go to bed. Bed time just changes daily.

message 45: by Emma (last edited Sep 25, 2008 05:19PM) (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Hahaha! I have a tad bit of disipline. Just not with book-buying and goodreads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Emma, you are so much better than me! You must teach me!

message 47: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Haha, you simply read the books you already own. And not get close to a Borders or B&N. Then it's pretty easy.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

But I think my car is attracted to Borders & BN. How do I disable it! ha ha

message 49: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments lol, You walk!!!! If you can.

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

I could use the exercise. I think I'm getting big butt from GR & reading!
