Kennalee Martin | 2 comments I can remember a lot of scenes from this book but not the title. It's a retelling of beauty and the beast with a redheaded actress and a man with an eye patch. She was abandoned by the father of her two children and traveled with a Shakespeare company. But her little girl got sick so she works at the mans house and cooks for his ranchers? The man was engaged at some point but after a carriage accident his fiance left him because of his scar. Definitely a romance novel and there is a secondary love story about a girl jokey that falls in love with an older doctor. This novel has both an adult version and an edited version if that helps any.

Danielle | 154 comments Surlalunefairytales.com is also a good place to look for modern retellings. I am unable to put a link straight to the page but I will tell you how to get to the page in question. When you are on the homepage on the sidebar is a list of fairytales pick beauty and the beast. When you are on that page, in the sidebar is a list pick modern interpertations. That is the page. It has a list of book, short story, poem, music, and movie retellings. Hope this helps!

Edit: since your book is a romance there is a link in the paragraph above the list. This takes you to a list of just romance retellings. Like I said above hope you find it.

From Amazon:
He was a prisoner of his own anger and bitterness. She held the key that could set him free.

Ever since Faith Butler's husband deserted her, her career as an actress with a traveling Shakespearean troupe had put food on the table for her two small children. But when her daughter fell dangerously ill, Faith had no choice but to remain in desolate Dead Horse, Wyoming, while the troupe moved on.

Desperately in need of a job, she began working as a housekeeper for the mysterious Drake Rutledge, an enigmatic rancher who had been disfigured in a terrible accident.

Drake had enveloped himself in a world of darkness and isolation. He didn't need anyone complicating his life, and he regretted hiring Faith whose breathtaking beauty and gentle ways were tormenting reminders of what he once had and lost. As Faith showed Drake what it could be like to live again, he feared the day George Butler would come to claim the wife and children Drake longed to call his own.

Two people, each sworn never to love again. Until fate stepped in.
