Ugh, I do hope this won't have too much of an impact on the site... but I'm fearing the worst :(

Oh my goodness! NOOOOOO!!!! If Amazon swallows Book Depository, it will be very bad news for us South Africans as Amazon's shipping fees are humungous!!

Indeed! They surely won't tolerate BD's current "free shipping" policy, being Amazon and all. And it'll take months for books to arrive. Horror scenarios :(

This is bad. So they saw they had some competition and thought, hey what can we do to squash them. Hmm ...
All good things has to come to an end I guess.

I can't imagine what let to this decision for Book Depository. I always thought that they were doing great as so many people spoke/bought from them.

The Book Depository has stated that they will continue running independently and that there are no plans to stop the free shipping.

The buyout also first needs to be approved by the various trade commissions overseas, so it's not 100% definite that it will get approved.

I really hope it doesn't get approved!
