message 101: by Char (new)

Char recluse, I always knew that at heart, you're a vampire.: P

message 102: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments I'm not real fond of the mascara wearing little suckers, Charlene.

I prefer "boogyman". ;)

message 103: by Char (new)

Char Well, at least boogymen don't sparkle! LOL
I really can't picture you as sparkling...other than your wit, of course!

message 104: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments I am a morbid sonovavich. :P
Of course!

message 105: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments Wash your mouth out with soap!

message 106: by Sharon/ LFrog1386 (new)

Sharon/ LFrog1386 (lfrog1386) | 301 comments Kealan I looked at KIN and I must say, while I am not a fan of cannibal stories, your take on it intrigues me a lot because it has more to do with the psyche than the bloodshed. That is fascinating, especially since I can relate to fantasies of revenge (I was good; didn't break any laws, I swear!).

message 107: by Jon Recluse (last edited Jan 07, 2012 08:54AM) (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments Sharon,I just started it and I'm hooked!

Have you been playing "DeathWish" again? :P

message 108: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments I'm not a fan of the subgenre either, for exactly those reasons.
That being said, so far KIN is proving to be everything the subgenre, and horror in general, could be and should be.

Bloody brilliant.

End of unsolicited advertisement. ;)

message 109: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments No, Kealan, thank you!!!

KIN is not only living up to the hype, it deserves more!

message 110: by Sharon/ LFrog1386 (new)

Sharon/ LFrog1386 (lfrog1386) | 301 comments It definitely is ramping up my list of to-be-read!

message 111: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments Be that way.

Miss the next Bram Stoker Award winner.

See if I care.

So there!

message 112: by Sharon/ LFrog1386 (new)

Sharon/ LFrog1386 (lfrog1386) | 301 comments Hey, I can't read a book a day like you, my friend. Unfortunately reading has been relegated to an hour before bedtime nightly and some nights I am too tired (and sometimes a little too tipsy) to get far before I pass out. Therefore, I am a book a month reader, if not longer, depending on the novel! We shall see how quickly The Five goes....

message 113: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments You could free up another couple, or half a dozen, hours if you cut back on the booze and frat boys...... :P

message 114: by Sharon/ LFrog1386 (new)

Sharon/ LFrog1386 (lfrog1386) | 301 comments Well now, where's the fun in that?!

message 115: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments It's college, not "Jersey Shore", for one thing.

message 116: by Sharon/ LFrog1386 (new)

Sharon/ LFrog1386 (lfrog1386) | 301 comments Well I don't know what college YOU went to, but isn't that part of the total experience? Of course the fact that I am 43 might not work in my favor, but hey, if ya got it, flaunt it! LOL

message 117: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments Yes, you do. None.
And, no, it isn't.
Your brain can't afford the constant damage at your age.
Go find a 60 year old with a pension and a Viagra scrip. :P

message 118: by Char (new)

Char Ok, the sales pitch worked and recluse's recommendation topped it off. Sold!

message 119: by Sharon/ LFrog1386 (new)

message 120: by Char (new)

Char I always try to link up to the book from here at GR.
Someone told me that this is what keeps GR funded.
But I can't find it here yet? Heading back to Ammy.

message 121: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments @Sharon-Of a chance at higher education? Yes.
Of being fondled by undocumented foreign exchange students and Occupy Wall Street loonies, not so much.:P

message 122: by Char (new)

Char I had to pick up the second Turtle Boy while I was there.
I'm looking forward to reading both. In fact, I'm heading off to finish Siren now.

Char 2 reviews up at Ammy already, Recluse's and one other. Both 5 stars. Nice!

message 128: by Char (new)

Char I just started it, literally like 2 pages in and I like it already. Very nice description of the tree, BTW. I could picture it perfectly.

message 134: by Char (new)

Char I just did a book comparison against Kealan.
We have 96 books in common and our ratings almost mirror each other.
It's the closest to my shelf I've seen. You can find out weird things on this site. : )
