Amanda Great to have you guys on board! I have my Kindle primed and ready to go. I've wanted to read something by this author for a while.

Viv JM I got my copy today. It seems like everyone is keen to start this one!!

Viv JM Have just gotten round to starting reading this today. In the first section I read, Hanh states that "we are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living". This strikes me as very true! I am hoping that the pracitical advice in the book will help me to be able to get better at living ;-).

Has anyone else started yet?

Amanda I'm seriously behind on my reading for this group. I wasn't sure anyone was with me anymore!

message 8: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) I'm planning on reading this this week...I'm a bit behind as well.

Amanda Looks like everyone is behind. How about we make this September's book and read Swampland Flowers in October?

message 10: by Viv (new)

Viv JM Sounds like a good idea!

Kristi (kristicoleman) I read this book yesterday. I loved the practical applications that it puts forth. The mantras that help you to see what's going on her and now. Very good. I think I'm going to have to find Peace Is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life and read it now...

Viv JM I just finished reading this. For me, while the first two sections are good, they seemed very familiar, as there is a great deal of overlap with The Miracle of Mindfulness which I have had for a while and often refer to for guidance. However, the third section blew me away - I just loved Thay's simple explanations and stories about the interbeing of all things. And the 14 precepts ("Love in Action") are wonderful, I think I may have to type them out and laminate them to carry with me everywhere!

So, is anyone reading Swampland Flowers with me? (though I haven't started yet...)
