Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Romance Lovers for the Challenge-Impaired: December, 2011 Challenge

Goal: Read five (5) books. It’s a busy month!
Duration: December 1 – 31, 2011.
Rules: Re-reads are fine, but no skimming! Audiobooks and anthologies are acceptable.
Categories to choose from: the following twelve options. You can choose multiples from one number, except #12.

1. The word! Read one with one of the following 25 words of December (or their plural form) in the title or the series name:
angel, bell, bright, candle, Christmas, cold, cookie, gift, gingerbread, Hanukkah, holiday, holly, jingle, light, morning, night, Santa, silver, snow, star, stocking, teddy bear, toy, winter, wish
2. Color! Read a book that has a predominant cover color of: red , green, white, blue, gold, or silver.
3. Read the 12th book in a series . Unfortunately, it can’t be Lothaire (Immortals After Dark, #12) by Kresley Cole . It doesn’t come out until January. **sigh**

4. “Heavenly Body” : Read a book with one on the cover.

5. Lights! Lamp or other non-natural light source on cover . Because we are inside a lot this time of year. Examples:
Hexbound (Dark Elite, #2) by Chloe Neill Darkest Mercy (Wicked Lovely, #5) by Melissa Marr Somewhere Along the Way (Harmony #2) by Jodi Thomas Storm Glass (Glass, #1) by Maria V. Snyder Shelter Mountain (Virgin River, #2) by Robyn Carr
6. A kiss . Read a book that depicts kissing on the cover. It doesn’t have to be under the mistletoe or on the lips. ^_~

7. Setting: cold! Read a book where the setting is cold - in the snow, ice, or wintertime.

8. “Don’t Drink Water Day” . Prohibition was repealed on December 5th is in the USA in 1933. Select from the following:
form of water: ice, fog, rain, snow, water, mist on the bookcover
• picture of an alcoholic drink (wine, cocktail, beer, etc.) on the cover
9. Jane Austen’s birthday : In honor of her B-Day, December, 16th, read one of her books.

10. Wright Brothers : In honor of the first powered flight in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, on December 17th, read a book with:
• a pilot as a main character
• a kitten on the cover
• a hawk on the cover, a character named Hawk
• its setting in North Carolina
11. Character: Humphrey Bogart. In honor of of his birthday, December 25th, 1899, and his most famous movie roles: Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep, Key Largo, Sabrina, and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, read a book involving a hero who is a:
• bar or casino owner
• P.I. - private investigator
• military hero home on leave
• vying with his brother for the affections of the heroine
• treasure hunter
12. Reader’s Choice. Read one (1) book of your choosing.

message 19: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I love Christmas too! I collect Christmas ornaments and Dept 56 Original Snow Village. I tend to put my tree up EARLY and take it down LATE (in March one year LOL). Of course, the taking the tree down late could be a product of my laziness too ;)

message 20: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I love Christmas too! I used to put up a 9 - 12 foot tree that would take me at least two days to decorate. I would take a week off the first of December to get things done, since as a nurse I could never get Christmas week off.

message 21: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments My girls have already asked when the tree is going up. In fact, oldest asked at the beginning of October lol I may have rubbed off on her a bit. I typically put our tree up and we do lights outside the week of thanksgiving, since I'm a teacher and off that week.

Another said, "Toby Barlow’s Shape Teeth is weird, beautiful, and audacious beyond measure." Sounds interesting. I'll be interested in seeing if you like it.
