Hi everyone.
Thank you Dee for the invitation.
My first book out last month is Short Shocks Volume I, which I have to revise, due to publishing problems.
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/64...
(sorry don't know how to get pic in here yet)
I'm currently working on Short shocks Volume II
Not got a website yet, but working on it. Slowly.

I did create a book trailer for SSVI, but not sure if it needs more work. I've watched a few b-trailers now. I don't think I could afford the shiney ones.
Nice to text you all though, I'll let you know if I ever think the trailer is worthwhile. Keep smileing:D
Oh, if anyone can tell me how to get it on here, I'd love your comments

J.C. Torre (jdelator) | 15 comments Greetings!

My name is JC De La Torre and I'm an author of Speculative Fiction.

What you are currently working on?
Currently, I'm working on the podiobook version of my novel, Ancient Rising - Rise of the Ancients Book I. I hope to have the first few episodes available for release soon. I'm also working on lining up reviews for my new novel, Rise of the Ancients - Annuna, which comes out July 31st. Finally, I'm working on my short story collection, tentatively titled "Welcome to My Nightmares" which will have all manner of speculative fiction.

Do you have a web site dedicated to your books?
http://jcdelatorre.com

Does your book have a book trailer?
A trailer is coming for Ancient Rising.

John J. (johndesjarlais) | 2 comments Hi, everyone:
I'm John Desjarlais, author of three books:
The Throne of Tara (Crossway 1990; iuniverse 2000) is based on the thrilling true story of Columba of Iona, the hot-headed monk who went to war over a book (in 560 AD), and in remorse over the 3,000 men slain, exiled himself among the savage Picts of Scotland where he dueled the druids, miracles versus magic. This title went out of print in 1999 and I re-issued it with a "Back-in-Print" offer with iUniverse.

Relics (Thomas Nelson 1993, 2009) is a medieval thriller/romance.
A suspicious cathedral fire. A stolen treasure. A terrorist plot to kill the king of France. Intrigue. Betrayal. Romance. Another day in the 13th century.

Bleeder (Sophia Institute Press, forthcoming August 2009) is a contemporary mystery set in rural Illinois.
A stigmatic priest bleeds to death on Good Friday in front of horrified parishioners. A miracle? Or bloody murder?

All three titles are at www.amazon.com (well, Bleeder will be there in August).

A member of the Academy of American Poets and Mystery Writers of America, I publish short stories and poetry in literary journals, too.

For details on the books, reviews, a fuller bio, photos, contact info and links to interesting sites related to the stories' content, please visit http://www.johndesjarlais.com

You can see the trailer for Relics here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dv2Hmg...

and the trailer-in-progress for Bleeder is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPt5y1...

I'm still tinkering with it.

I posted part of Bleeder chapter one in the Writing area of Goodreads.

Peace,
John

Dave Cullen (davecullen) | 12 comments Hi. I'm so glad I found this thread, and this group. It's taken me a week roaming GoodReads to discover it.

I'm Dave Cullen author of Columbine, which Twelve/Hachette published in April.

I have a website for Columbine and a book trailer.

I coded the site myself, over a period of about seven years, and it's much better than it used to be, but really needs work. Lately I've recruited some volunteers to help with updates, but it needs a facelift.

I feel like I've made a good start on leveraging the web, but am only halfway there, if that. I intended to devote a lot more time on it this spring, but the book launch totally overwhelmed me. That's a good thing, but I feel behind. (Eg, I heard about GoodReads in Jan or Feb, and made a point to check it out, but the launch stuff buried most of my plans. I'm digging out now.)

I'm looking for ideas and other opinions/experience. I wish I'd known about this board last year. Better late than never.

Hachette farmed out the book trailer to Turnhere, and a local Denver filmmaker who spent years working on "South Park" created it. I was very happy with the result, except for the way I looked. hahaha. But seriously. Anyone else have that reaction. I love how it introduces the book, but have to look away from my face. God.

---

(Will somebody tell me how to make the title link to the GoodReads page on it? Thanks.)

Edit: Oh, just html. Duh. Sorry.

Hi David So wonderful to see you, thanks so much for the hellos :]

Jennifer Ye gads, who would have thought that we would get two members with the same first name joining at nearly the same time? Welcome to our group Jennifer Miller, we will have to nickname you MaMa_Jen :]

Congrats on your children’s books. I like the titles of your current book and your upcoming one.

John Welcome to the group. Wow, you have been busy. As I am very interested in the history of Scotland, I will have to be sure to check out your novel The Throne of Tara.

Dave Welcome to the group. What a very difficult and heartbreaking subject you have tackled in your book Columbine. Hopefully your exploring this horrific event in our recent history can help others prevent it from happening again.

John J. (johndesjarlais) | 2 comments OK, finished the BLEEDER trailer. Viewable here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht1Onl...

It's not easy to condense a 300 page mystery to a 30-second tease. It's like putting together a 12-image storyboard for the whole novel. Well, it was kinda fun and maybe it will draw a little attention to the book. That's the whole idea. right?

Jude Stephens | 2 comments Hi everyone,
It's great to be here. My name is Jude Stephens and I'm a newly published author. And am still finding my way in this world of authors, publishers and the likes. My book Scent of a Vampire was released on June 3rd by Hearts on Fire books. It is a paranormal and is set in NY, NJ and PA. It just doesn't have vampires but some unique beings that I created including the main character.
I have a great love for classics like Bram Stokers Dracular and Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Probably why my novel is a paranormal romance. I am working on a sequel titled Touch of a Vampire. I look foreard to getting to know everyone.

Dave Cullen (davecullen) | 12 comments Thanks, Dee.

I've got kind of exciting news, too.

There's a new cover story on Oprah.com, and it will be the cover of the July issue of O Magazine: "Oprah's Summer Reading List: 25 Books You Can't Put Down."

She picked Columbine as one of the 25 (it's #7, if you scroll through the list).

http://tinyurl.com/n92kyr

We gave her exclusive rights to an excerpt--the first chapter--now on Oprah.com, which you can read at the link above, if you're interested. Her site also features new Book Club Discussion Questions for COLUMBINE.

They gave it a terrific review. A taste:

". . . Dave Cullen's spectacularly gripping account of the Colorado school shooting that shocked America a decade ago. But Cullen's chilling narrative is too vital to miss, as are his myth-busting revelations."

Thanks, Oprah.

(Let your friends know, if they're Oprah fans. There are Send & Share buttons there. There is also a place to discuss any of the 25 books):

Sean Ellis | 4 comments Greetings all,
I'm Sean Ellis and I write action-adventure fiction in the same vein as Clive Cussler and James Rollins. I recently took another step up the ladder with the release of The Shroud of Heaven, from Samhain Publishing LLC. Samhain mostly deals in romance but they made an exception for Shroud which is a pretty straightforward thriller. There are some excerpts and other material, including my homespun trailers on my website: http://seanellisthrillers.webs.com/

Thanks,

Susan Price (susanbarrettprice) Hi, everyone! Susan Barrett Price here, author of PASSION AND PERIL ON THE SILK ROAD: A THRILLER IN PAKISTAN AND CHINA. Started my first novel as a Nancy Drew fan, at age 11. Finally became an indie author-publisher at age 60.

My first book draws from my travels in Central Asia and my fascination with art and antiquities. Since I write mostly about the black market, I hate to say I'm an "insider" but let's just say I've done my research.

I'm working on my second book, still about the antiquities trade, this time in Thailand.

Check me out at http://www.PassionAndPeril.com and daily at http://www.MadInPursuit.com (where I'm celebrating my 10th year as a blogger, from back before they were called "blogs").

Your book sounds very topical. With the wars and fighting, not a day goes past when that part of the world is not mentioned. I guess a lot goes on in the antiquities trade that the general public doesn't hear about either. Laurel

Yes, Laurel, it's ironic that I wrote the book before a lot of people knew where Pakistan was. And now I see Xinjiang region of China is in the news -- the other venue in my novel. It really is a fascinating part of the world. Susan

Sierra Rose (sierrarose) | 3 comments Hello, I'm still new to Goodreads as I just joined in July so I'm also still figuring out things but just came across this group tonight.

My name is Sierra Rose and I'm the author of Celtic Evil: A Fitzgerald Brothers Novel: Roarke, which is the first in a five part paranormal/romantic suspense series. I've also authored a short action story and a poetry collection. I am currently working on book 2 in the Celtic Evil series.

I do have a website:
http://sierra-rose-books.webs.com/

I'm currently working on a book teaser which I was informed is a shorter version of a trailer.

My favorite genre? That's hard. I love to read and write mainly action/adventure though I read many genres including romance, mystery and have recently branched out to writing more than action.

I do enjoy visting other author websites. Not only to see the varied methods authors use in promoting their books but also for the information on the books themselves.

I just started watching book trailers honestly. It was only last month that I discovered YouTube and figured out my computer could actually run one.
