Digging to America question

I agree that no, she shouldn't have. She didn't WANT to, so of course not. I wish that Dave and others (and society) didn't put that expectation on women, that ultimately a relationship with the opposite sex needs to end up with marriage. I wish that Maryam and Dave had stayed together, but not married.

I agree that they shouldn't have married. I liked that Maryam, after being put on the spot by Dave, had the courage of her convictions to decline his proposal later. Too bad that Dave's proposal killed the friendship. But, perhaps, such an ending would have been too cliche'.
