Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments What do you have currently checked out from your local library? What are you on the wait-list for? Do you download audio or PDF books from the library? Or, do you only go to the library in person?

Have you ever picked up a library book "just because" and then found it "a real find!" ? If so, which one?

With this economy, do you use the library more?

Do you buy books at the "Friends of the Library" booksales?

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I currently have The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson checked out via downloadable audio. I need to get to it as the library will take it back soon.

Love that I no longer have overdue fines, but I'm not crazy about not being able to get the book exactly when I want it to line up with "buddy reads" or challenges.

Hi Lisa..... Is this a romance? I saw the movie Girl with the something or other and I would not call it a romance. Just wondering.... Oh and I through out the
movie....... I am bad.

I don't go to the library.... I tend to not return things. That is why I just buy movies and books..... used most of the time.

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 361 comments I use my local library mostly for mysteries since it tends not to have much in the way of PNR or UF. Science fiction and fantasy seems limited to big name authors and older releases. The audio book collection on CD is decent if all I want are the more-or-less bestsellers in mystery and suspense-not a lot of anything else. Overdrive is available, but I haven't tried borrowing anything that way. There's a continual sale of donated books where I have found some things to add to my stash. At $1/paperback and $2/hardback, the prices are hard to beat.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments No, Faithmarie, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson is not a romance. What do you mean you threw out the movie - I thought it hadn't even come out in the theaters yet.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Sandra, I love OD audio. I can control it more than Ingram audio. Zip back 15 seconds - or whatever. I find that the books in the FotL sales are in much better shape than other sales.

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 361 comments The books are certainly in good shape. Some of the old hardbacks originally published in the 60s or 70s still look brand new. Selection is a crap shoot, of course, but that's what makes it fun to look whenever I go in.

No the first one ..... It is subtitles so it must be foreign. I saw it last year. Maybe they made an english version now.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Yes, it was done in Sweden (?) first. I think the English version is filming now. There was a big controversy over the selection of the young girl's part.

I wish itune books were not so expensive. I have bought a few books I love on itune.

It does make it fun, doesn't it? So exciting when I find a one and say to myself, "I can't believe that gave that one away!"

Her acting was well done but the story was disturbing to me..... lol
I don't think she was too young for the part. She was kind of neat, her and the part she played..... but still to much for me. I don't want heart palpitations when I read a book or watch a movie and that one was a ............. for me.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Sorry, I meant a controversy for the new movie, not the (realatively) "old" one.

Carolyn F. I have yet to get an e-book or an audiobook from the library. Whatever one I'm looking for, they don't have.

I do order a ton of books though. I like that I can do that right after I read a recommendation or review and then they'll let me know when I can pick it up. Then I always look through their used books quickly. I don't have room for hardbacks and their paperbacks are 25 to 50 cents, very cheap. I even use their scanners to check out the books, so usually I'm in/I'm out.

When I first joined Goodreads I would see books that I wanted to read and would buy them on Ebay or Amazon or Half. Finally, I re-upped my library card and now I save a ton of money. If I must have the book after reading it, I'll buy it. Or if my library doesn't have it I'll buy it but our library pulls from all around, probably a 50 miles circumference, so I have access to a lot of libraries around us. I do use Linked but most times I'm not able to get the books from the out of area libraries from some reason or another. Linked will get books from all the libraries in California, even LA which is like 350 miles from me. When I'm older and am able to retire, I'd love to volunteer there.

Michelle Gilmore | 3220 comments I found an audio version of The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson at the library when I should've been there doing some research. I haven't started it yet, but I'm to listen during my commute to and from work.

I'm still hoping I'll be able to read this one sometime soon.

I did see the movie on sale at Target or Walmart recently. I didn't really look into it, but I'd love to see it after I've read the book.

Just read the blurb for that, it looks like a great book! Would love to know what you think of it!

✿Michelle✿, my library has that on audio! Yea! And it fits into one of my challenges, like, three ways to Sunday. :)
