They were both extremely boring and overrated."

Yeah, I agree with you on that last sentence as well. It seems like the new hype is dystopian novels now because of The Hunger Games, but to be honest, I find dystopian novels a little more tolerable than paranormal romances.

Yeah, that's true. They're just setting the YA authors up for failure 'cause it's what teens expect to find when they read one.

i agree^ i don't really like either very much. The first Fallen was good then it starts going down hill. And no offense twilighters but twiligh..."
Ha! Finally someone who agrees! :P Twilight does suck!

I remeber really enjoying twilight, not so much anymore. Honestly, i think the movies ruined it for me, they were really bad and made me lose interest in the books altogether. But i did like them originally. I do think fallen was similar but then again, so many books follow the whole concept of "i love u against all reason and -oh wait - i think i love him too, etc" fallen got interesting but the first book was a boring read, i was pleasantly surprised that the last books took such a turn. I was glad i finished but i almost didnt even pick up the second book. Both books had somewhat nieve and weak female leads but overall i have to say twilight was a better read.

Some people are saying that the rest of the series is boring, but I don't think so. It does actually get better as it progresses.

Me, too."
*sigh* If only...;)"
Right.

Yeah, I LOVE it. I'm reading Passion, and I can't wait to finish it. It confuses me, but then again it doesn't. Lauren Kate did GREAT writing these <3

Me, too."

Same, its just that Fallen grasped my attention more firmly than Twiight ever did:)"
ya twilight was just to coman with the love tringle and vampires and werewolfs hating eachother

What's your favorite book if you don't like these?
Sorry, just curious:))"
I am too.... What books do you think are better than Fallen or Twilight, like what are your favs.?

Hahaha... yeah. Edward looks like a fairy princess when he sparkles in the sunlight and has no abs. Not like Jacob does... :P I still think that they messed up the cast for Twilight, specifically on who should play Edward and Bella.

Same here.... the first movie was low budget and kinda bad. The second movie slightly better but only becuz there was a different director. The third movie was good too. Breaking Dawn Part 1 was just freakin' hilarious!!! Especially the part where Edward broke the bead frame. That was just ridiculous. I was laughing throughout most of that move.

The montages were my favorite part of Breaking Dawn prt 1. So many lovely montages. My favorites were the "getting ready for sex montage" and the packing montage. Both had me in tears.

Hahaha... yeah. Edward looks ..."
Oh, yeah... she was all "don't be a coward".

Popularity happened I guess. Paranormal romances became really popular, and suddenly they took over the whole YA section.
I don't think YA books have to be bad, or are bad in general. IMHO, people give YA books way, way more slack than they would give adult books in terms of quality. They expect bad writing, cliche plots, weak characters, etc, so fans of YA lit are fed a steady diet of subpar books. That's also why books that would be considered mediocre for adults are hailed as master pieces in the YA crowd. YA has lower standards, so we get saddled with shelf after shelf of poorly written clones of popular books that would never be published if the publishing company didn't want to cash in on the current genre trend. I think that's why there's so little variety in the YA genre and so much crap.
