Stan (editorsykm) | 7 comments Adding an alternate cover is really awkward and unclear, even after reading the note about it. I'm not sure I did it right for 0826306039 even after 20 minutes of study, questioning, and trial and probably error. This shouldn't be so difficult. Why not just let alternate covers be uploaded like the "I swear on my sacred honor that this is NOT a cover" function -- and what IS that for? I'd kill that function to avoid overloading the already challenged GR servers. Maybe it's just me....

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 2 comments It gets easier the more you do it, Stan, but no less cumbersome. :)

I would love a one-click solution (ie. a button called "alternate cover edition", then you simply select the isbn of the book you have and upload the cover) but I'm sure that in computer-speak it's way more difficult.

I just add a crossreference in the librarian note about the alternate cover:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/edit/12...
http://www.goodreads.com/book/edit/34...

I too wish that the alternate cover function in GR is available soon.

Stan (editorsykm) | 7 comments I understand that experience would be useful, but how often does one encounter an alternate cover for the same edition? My brain is too soft to learn this one, I fear, but it may never arise again. Although, with university publications, it may be a common problem. Thing is, I was logging this book of mine that I am reading from time to time, hence the issue. GR should just adjust the image upload screen to get rid of all the warnings, and make it open and productive, as I think I backhandedly suggested earlier.

Stan (editorsykm) | 7 comments Oh, footnote -- having read the "alternate cover" note, I tried to put a note about it, but didn't find anywhere to do it. My error, no doubt, but it was not intuitive.

Almost daily, Stan, if you read paperback romances at all. :)

Or speculative fiction (both SF and fantasy publishers are awful about reusing ISBNs).

Lobstergirl Or books which have been published, and republished, and republished, by Penguin. Penguin almost always reuses ISBNs. I wish they didn't...

message 9: by Stan (new)

Stan (editorsykm) | 7 comments Well, Tammy, I'm mainly reading "nonromances" -- in my "day job" at http://www.StopYoureKillingMe.com
