End of Days discussion

Does anyone have any votes as to what caused the apocalypse? We can stick with the traditional stereotypes: plague, nuclear war, etc... or we can try to come up with something new. Please post your ideas here!

how about in the near future our generation pollution had started odd weather patterns and finally all natural disasters ended up destroying all countries and breaking them up into smaller countries, also most countries are barren lands with little to offer but one major city remains in America, New York city, it is the worlds icon of power since its the last major city left in the world.

Worldwide economic down fall followed by a 3rd world war (nukes not a factor due to the solar flair that made computers inop) that started a manmade plague that annihilated the population of the world by 90%.
Or something along those lines, not a must to be in that order.
