Randie D. Camp, M.S. (randie87) I need help deciding which book to read next. Wither by Lauren DeStefano or Matched by Ally Connie?

message 2: by Beckie (new)

Beckie (chikittie) | 33 comments I read Matched and it was okay. I did like it. I am reading Wither now and sooo loving it. Very awesome book! :)

message 3: by Tabitha (new)

Tabitha Olson (tabithaolson) | 53 comments I much preferred Matched to Wither, though I had issues with both books. :) Matched had some areas lacking with the main character, but Wither had several issues with the plot and motiviations behind all the characters' actions.

I'd say go with Matched. I think it's the better read.

message 4: by Julie (new)

Julie I read them both but I much prefered Wither. Like Tabitha I had issues with both books but I was able to enjoy the story and characters in Wither more.

message 5: by Aurora (new)

Aurora Celeste | 25 comments I agree with Tabitha on the issues with the books, but I'd go the other way and recommend you read Wither. My major problem with Matched was that it really seemed like a prequel and not a complete story. It worked well in that way, though, making me want to continue on with the story. I'd recommend you wait until Crossed comes out and just read Matched and Crossed back to back.

Randie D. Camp, M.S. (randie87) Thanks for all of your feedback, hopefully I can get at least one more comment to break the tie :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I thought Wither was a little bit better. Matched was very slow until the end. Neither book was spectacular, but at least Wither had a few more interesting moments.

Randie D. Camp, M.S. (randie87) Thanks! I have both books from the library but will read Wither first. I might take Aurora's advice and read Matched closer to the release of Crossed. Does anyone know the anticipated date?

message 9: by Julie (new)

Julie Looks like it'll be out in November, not too long!

message 10: by Randie (new)

Randie D. Camp, M.S. (randie87) Thanks Julie! November is practically tomorrow.

Angela (fumiko8283) | 5 comments I just finished Wther and I read Matched when it came out. Imagine my disapointment when I learned the next one was not coming out till almost a year later! So if you don't like waiting, I would read Matched first because the next one comes out in November, the begining- I look on Amazon- and the next one for Wither doesnt come out till feb 2012! ugh =(

Shelby | 5 comments I heard Matched was horrible, but I haven't read it. I have read Wither though. My advice: DON'T READ IT! There is no end to the problems I had with the book. I was greatly disappointed (well, actually I wasn't. I knew from other reviews what I was getting into, but I didn't realize how bad it was until I'd finished).

I personally thought that Wither was great and I love it. :) I think we should let Randie come to her own opinion of these books when she reads them. Otherwise you have people who say they love them and others who put the books down like they are garbage. If I have learned one thing is to never take another opinion on a book but I may feel different.

Also, saying "DONT READ IT!" is like yelling at her to not read this book when she may in fact choose to. I found I would have missed out on a lot of awesome books if I listen to to what others thought.

Angela (fumiko8283) | 5 comments Agree, like I said above, I’ve read both and ive like both of them. Which I liked better I can’t really say confidently since it has been so long since I read Matched but I remember how quickly I devoured it and couldn’t put it down AND was SOOOO perturbed at the end. AHHH! Hate cliff hangers and this one was a hum dinger. As for Wither, I very much enjoyed as well and couldn’t read it fast enough. I am very excited for both sequels.

Randie D. Camp, M.S. (randie87) I don't mind the warnings. I usually like the books others don't. But who knows, after I read them, I might be coming back to say, you were right, they stunk. So far, I've read just 3 pages of Wither, too early to have an opinion yet. I hope to read Matched too. Both books are due back to the library on the 25th and there's too many requests to renew either one, so hopefully they are fast reads.

Well I hope you like them both. Wither was a fast read for me. :)

Melissa (melissa_wy) | 112 comments I never read Wither, but I loved Matched and can't wait for Crossed!

Randie D. Camp, M.S. (randie87) Finished Wither this morning and LOVED it! Hope to start Matched today or tomorrow ;)

message 19: by Beckie (new)

Beckie (chikittie) | 33 comments I am very glad that you do love it. :) At least I know someone feels the same about this amazing novel. :) Thanks for adding me too, Randie.

Randie D. Camp, M.S. (randie87) I forgot to come back and update everyone. I finished Matched last weekend. I enjoyed it, I agree that it was a little off in some indescribable way. In my opinion, Wither was the better book. I will probably be reading the second books in both series. Thanks to all who shared.

message 21: by Beckie (new)

Beckie (chikittie) | 33 comments Hi Randie - I am glad that you enjoyed both books. Yes, I liked Wither more than Matched. :) I am also looking forward to reading the next books in both series.
