I gave these books a 4 star rating with perhaps a special mention for The Hatbox Baby as it was such a memorable read:
No.2/4 The Hatbox Baby met the criteria for both topics (New Life and Carnivals/Fairs) as it's the fictional story surrounding premature babies exhibited at the 1933 World's Fair Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago. I very much enjoyed the historical aspect but it may contain too much detail for some readers, although the author has a very nice writing style.
No.3(Spring Image) Wildflower Hill and No.10 (Garden Connection) The Forgotten Garden were quite similar in that they both had parallel storylines and had old family secrets. I like both these Australian authors and their books but Wildflower Hill came out a whisker ahead for me on this occasion.
No.6(Red or Yellow Cover) Tandia is a worthy sequel to The Power of One and although it can be a little repetitive at times I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first book.
No.7 (Young Adult) The Dead of Night is the second book in John Marsden's series and here we learn more about the characters of the young people in his story. Another great read.
No.9 (Initial K) Kitty and the Midnight Hour was a fun read in the urban fantasy genre and I'd rate it 3 and a half stars and since Kitty herself is an interesting character I'll probably look further into the series.
Well done Kim Marie! Don't worry about not finishing...at least you enjoyed yourself while reading what you did:D And also, I'm sure future challenges will incorporate the books you weren't able to get to!
