Dee-Ann | 644 comments Just finished Bundle of Trouble which is Mills and Boon Intrigue series novel. This story was of a mother who's baby son had been kidnapped when he was 4 months of age, and she had tracked him down to be the adopted son of a divorced, hunky, millionaire (of course) ranch owner. Following the second abduction of the child, the two of them become involved in trying to unravel a baby smuggling scheme which is opearting in the area, as well as becoming involved in each other! Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed it. It was a quick, easy read which I needed, with steamy hot sex scenes, but also had a fair share of action, intrigue, blood and arson.

Thus 1 book down, 9 to go.

2. Choose a book that features a new life. Bundle of Trouble by Ellen James.

Kim Marie | 894 comments I had difficulty finding books appropriate to each criteria (especially since my name starts with "K" and I don't necessarily always want books beginning with Kiss or Kill, lol) but here goes:

1. Spring Clean: Satori by Don Winslow - the prequel/sequel to my much loved Shibumi by Trevanian.

2. New Life: The Hatbox Baby by Carrie Brown

3. Spring Image: Wildflower Hill by Kimberley Freeman by Kimberley Freeman....Finished

4. Royal Adelaide Show: The Easter Parade by Richard Yates

5. Aussie Author: The Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak

6. Red and Yellow: Tandia by Bryce Courtenay by Bryce Courtenay....Finished

7. Young Adult: The Dead Of Night by John Marsden....Finished

8. Spring Racing Carnival: Riding Lessons by Sara Gruen

9. Title beginning with the first letter of my name: Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn....Finished

10. Garden Connection: The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton....Finished

Since time became my enemy in this challenge I've combined No.2 and No.4 since The Hatbox Baby fits the criteria for both.

Kim Marie | 894 comments Hmmn...I see what you mean Michael. I can only contribute 3 from my library: Misery, Morgan's Run and Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow. Good luck!

message 164: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Misery is amazing! I highly recommend it!
That is the only M book I can reccomend, save Mockingjay, but for that one you'd have to read both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire.

message 165: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Actually, i saw on your list you were missing 8.

#8: A book about horses, racing, betting, money won and lost. The Hunger Games can fit in here. I know lots of other group members have read and loved it, so if your interested you could choose that.

Catching Fire doesnt fit anywhere with your challenge (except maybe #3 the spring-themed cover, bright orange).

You could totally knock off the whole (awesome) trilogy in one challenge! That is, if the story tickles your interest. It was just a suggestion & recommendation (:

message 166: by Chantal (new)

Chantal Grech | 17 comments Ok, finished my first book on the list: Eat, Pray, Love. I can now see why they made a film about it.

I've finished my first one.. The Interrogator which was the spring colour one. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and will do a review when I get home:)

message 168: by David (new)

message 169: by Lesley (new)

message 170: by char (new)

char | 12 comments One book on my list finished (Good Girls Do Swallow).. and another now started (Bliss).
I am reading them in list order so the book I am now reading is the new life one. So far it's very interesting but written in some sort of third-person-from-the-future type of way, haven't read a book written this way before!.

message 171: by Louise (new)

Louise (louisecc) | 192 comments OK, I've added another one to my list.....

1. Spring clean your bookcases by reading a much loved, but yet unread book..either novel or biography.. Nine Parts of Desire: The Hidden World of Islamic Women, Geraldine Brooks

2. Choose a book that features a new life - a baby (animal or human) on the cover/in the story. Something by James Herriot

3. Choose a book for its cover - a spring image with all its colour. TBA

4. The Royal Adelaide show is on 2nd - 10th September, so choose a book about a show/ carnival rides/ handicrafts/ cookery/ livestock..anything to tie into the event. A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian, Marina Lewycka

5. The Brisbane Writers Festival is on 7th - 11th September, so choose a book written by an Aussie author, released somewhere in the 3 months of Spring. TBA

6. Seeing as Spring colours are predominantly red and yellow, pick a book with either a red or yellow cover, and post the book cover as well, so everyone can see (and get colourful suggestions). TBA

7. Sydney Eisteddfod is running until 20th September, and they are searching for the best young Australian talent, so pick a Young Adult book, not necessarily by an Aussie author, for this event. The Graveyard Book, Neil Gaiman

8. The Spring Racing Carnival culminating with the Melbourne Cup is in November, so a book about horses/horse racing/betting/money won and lost.. Something by Dick Francis

9. How about a book with the title beginning with the first letter of your name....e.g. I could choose Black Wave: A Family's Adventure at Sea and the Disaster That Saved Them TBA

10. For the last one, you have a choice...a book with a garden connection for spring or a non-fiction/biography, again with a spring connection!
Genesis of the Grail Kings: The Explosive Story of Genetic Cloning and the Ancient Bloodline of Jesus, Laurence Gardner

1. 'Old Man and the Sea' by Ernest Hemmingway
2. 'Red Dog' by Louis de Bernieres

Currently reading:

3. 'Metamorphosis: Stages in a Life' by David Suzuki
4. 'The Mists of Avalon' by Marion Zimmer Bradley

Yes... Red Dog is the one made into a film. We saw the film first and then read the book. It's a rather thin little book though; funny as!

Mozette | 56 comments Carmel wrote: "Mozette, I loved the movie, must say there were a couple of corny bits but generally loved it & the soundtrack, great music!! I've heard the book is a bit different but very good!"

The book is very different - a series of stories about Red Dog - however, you can see where the movie fitted into it. When the movie comes out on dvd, I'll be getting it because it's a touching and funny film about a wonderful and funny dog.

Louise (loupie) Thanks for linking to my Spring reading post on book coasters , Carmel. I don't mind at all :)
I can't really take credit, though. I just put the post together from recommendations from some of the other librarians at the Gold Coast's branch libraries.

I'm currently reading 44 Scotland Streetas my number 1 Spring clean book - somehow I've never actually read this book in its entirety, although I have read some of the chapters, which were published each day as short stories in The Scotsman newspaper. It's fantastic to have them all together - I love Alexander McCall Smith's gentle style, keen observations of Scottish life and dry wit. I enjoy his Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency books and the Sunday Philosophy series, so I'm not really sure why I've never quite managed to read the Scotland Street books properly...

Oh, well, I've started now thanks to this challenge!
