message 254: by Dee-Ann (new)

Dee-Ann | 644 comments Just finished Divergent which is a YA book. I enjoyed it. Reminded me a bit of The Hunger Games and The Handmaids Tale, though not as good as either of them.

Anyhow, 3 down, 7 to go.

2. Choose a book that features a new life. Bundle of Trouble by Ellen James.

7. Young Adult book. Fledgling by Mark A. Cooper.

9. A book with the title beginning with the first letter of your name (D). Divergent by Veronica Roth.

Getting there:)

message 256: by Louise (last edited Sep 25, 2011 09:36PM) (new)

Louise (louisecc) | 192 comments I've decided on #3 - spring cover. It's going to be Madame Tussaud: A Novel of the French Revolution coz that's all spring-pretty!

Madame Tussaud A Novel of the French Revolution by Michelle Moran

Also #9 (Book beginning with first letter of your name) is to be The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. I read the 1st one, saw the movie for the 2nd one so now back to reading. :D

I think that only leaves me a James Herriot to chose for #2.

Sounds good Louise!

message 258: by Bronwyn (new)

Bronwyn Rykiert | 315 comments I have made a couple of changes to my choices. I found that one of the books I already had decided to read before the challenge fit a catergory and another I found at the library last weekend fit in exactly.

1. Book from TBR pile – Twin Fantasies by April Carew 5* 10/09/11
2. New Life – baby on cover or in the story – What Alice Forgot (Alice's sister has a baby after years of failed IVF) 3* audio 26/09/11
3. Spring Image on cover – The Captive (Love Spell Romance) by Amanda Ashley - This says spring to me
4. Book about show/carnival/cooking/craft something that ties into a show - undecided
5. Book by an Aussie author released Sept/Oct/Nov -
6. Book with either a red or yellow cover – Devoured by Darkness (Guardians of Eternity, #7) by Alexandra Ivy (it has orange writing on the cover
7. Young Adult Book – Linger by Maggie Stiefvater – 4* audio 10/09/11
8. Horses/Horse racing/gambling – Getting paid to Drink and Gamble by Jeff Collerson (not on good reads)
9. Book beginning with B – Blue Angel by Logan Bell 4* 21/09/11
10. A book with a garden connection – The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton - audio

Mozette | 56 comments Aaargh... I've had problems with one of my reads and had to put it down.

3. 'The Mists of Avalon' by Marion Zimmer Bradley (unfinished) - Sept 27th. 3rd attempt in three years.
4. 'The Book of Tomorrow' by Cecelia Ahern - page 51 (going well so far).

message 260: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80013 comments Mod
@ Bronwyn, your list is looking great:)

@ Mozette, I'd say if you've tried 3 times, it's a lost cause! Many more good books out there to read:)

message 261: by David (new)

David (tasbooklover) | 151 comments @Moz - I couldn't agree with Brenda more. Way too many good books and so little spare time to waste on books you don't enjoy. Three attempts is heaps (and two more than I would have done). Sounds like the next one on your list is more enjoyable :)

message 262: by Mozette (new)

Mozette | 56 comments Thanks Brenda and David... you guys have made me feel a whole lot better about putting it down. It looks as thick as LOTR and yet not as easy to read.

And yes, the next book is more fun; and more up-to-date and I'm getting through more pages with it. Cecilia Ahern is a good writer in this one; old-fashioned surroundings with POV from a teenager.

Dee-Ann | 644 comments Finished The Memory Keeper's Daughter
which I really enjoyed ... gave it 5 stars, though soe times it got bogged down in the detail, but I just had to keep reading it to see what happened in the end. I have included it in this challenge, as one of the main characters is heavily into photography, which fits into category 4 about handicrafts.

so 4 down, 6 to go.

2. Choose a book that features a new life. Bundle of Trouble by Ellen James.

4. Choose a book which includes handicrafts ... The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards

7. Young Adult book. Fledgling by Mark A. Cooper.
