Vidya (vidyasamson) | 82 comments Most PNRs seem to have heroes that are vampires, demons, fallen angels, werewolves, shapeshifters.

Are there any other strong magical beings that heroes in PNR are? Can anyone suggest any books featuring something different from the above in the way of heroes?

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 241 comments There is a succubus series adult Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead and in YA Beg for Mercy (A Cambion Series) by Shannon Dermott . Both are good.

Someone suggest YA Firelight (Firelight, #1) by Sophie Jordan which is suppose to be about dragons.

There are a lot of witch books. But two other YS series I suggest that are good. Ghost Shade (Shade, #1) by Jeri Smith-Ready and My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1) by Rachel Vincent about Banshees.

There is also two adult series about witches and feys.
Storm Born (Dark Swan, #1) by Richelle Mead and Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep . They are both really good as well.

Graveminder by Melissa Marr - the hero is really the mortuary guy, but the supernatural aspect is pretty cool.

Wicked Appetite (The Unmentionables, #1) by Janet Evanovich - I don't know what he is, I don't thin he says.

Vidya (vidyasamson) | 82 comments Thanks, everyone. These sound interesting. Do the heroes in these have some powers that distinguish them from the vampires and werewolves and other PNR creatures we are familiar with? Or do they just bear the name of some different magical creatures while their powers are more or less the same?

Katie | 157 comments Die for Me (Revenants, #1) by Amy Plum Amy Plum made up her own beings "revenents" for this book and they have their own unique abilities and powers. I would suggest having a look.

In the ACRO series the powers are definitely unique. One hero can control the weather, for instance. The Warriors of Poseidon travel by turning into mist. In Dark Magick the fae each have their own special powers, which are definitely not vamp or werewolf related. For the rest of the series I mentioned, the warriors are enhanced in some respect and generally long-lived or immortal.

Does that answer your question?

Vidya (vidyasamson) | 82 comments Thanks, everyone. I’m still reading reviews of these. Shade sounds really interesting.

Now I’m curious; did Jeri explain satisfactorily the cause of the 'Shift'? I dislike books where there’s some super interesting event and then the author gives some lame explanation for it.

so what was the reason something happened and all those 16 and under could suddenly see ghosts? I see the latest in the trilogy is out but no one’s given a full review yet.
