uhm - ok
the cave scene is her blurring back into history, questioning how many of her kin have slept in this cave, denuding herself and surviving on the bare essentials for the night. for that night she could be existing in any time, cave man, modern day or bleak future and her kin have been there and will be there for each of these times
the scene also bought to mind for me a comment a colleague made that - should nuclear holocaust ever come - it's these people who wholl survive. this bare, desperate and almost hopeless existance with people who can manage without air conditioning, mcdonalds and cable tv.
great book, almost as good a movie
