Larry Moniz (larrymoniz) | 109 comments I'm constantly amazed on Goodreads when I discover that so many aspiring authors have no sense of how to target press releases and their prepration. Even further, they seen to not care.
This morning I came across a story entitled The 10 commandments of media outreach. The first commandment is, hardly surprising, to: 1. Thou shall tell a story. Here is the URL to read the rest of the story. Please take it to heart: http://www.linkedin.com/news?actionBa...

For those who really want to know what they're doing, I suggest:

Prue Given that we all are Kindle-published writers or plan to be Kindle-published, maybe number 10 is the one with most relevance. Indeed with the only relevance?

Larry Moniz (larrymoniz) | 109 comments Actually, based on months of research, that's the only one with little or no relevance in my opinion.

I was considering an update to my EPPIE Award book, Self-Promotion for Authors. I've asked dozens of social network services operators for verifiable data on how well Twitter and Facebook, et ali, are in generating sales. To date, NO ONE has any data. All their claims thus appear to be hype.

What also scares me is that would indicate few, if any, other authors are writing as a business, just pouring money from their pockets for highly questionable results.

Prue And yet strangely I have built a loyal fan base through just that... the social media. Your readers do expect engagement and its a small price to pay.

Prue, I never said it was impossible. The old saying is that for every rule, there's an exception that proves it. :-)

But how loyal are they really? How many total books have you sold and what percentage are you able to attribute to social media?

Prue No comment. I'm happy and I like my readers. End of argument.
