Wwkeeler | 2 comments I recently finished Lockett's Crucible, a Civil War tale with plenty of action. I definitely recommend. Now, I am re-reading The Caine Mutiny which I last read about 30 years ago. I don't think that will have as much action as Lockett's Crucible, if memory serves correct.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I just finished Panacea by F. Paul Wilson. While it's the first of a trilogy, this book ended well. I'm not sure if I'll read the other books, so I'm looking for recommendations. Are the other books worth it or do they go downhill?

Anyway, I gave this one a 4 star review here:

message 5013: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Winter Hey everyone, have any of you tried the Rika's Marauder's series by M.D. Cooper? I'm reading the second one now and it's some pretty fast-paced military sci-fi for anyone into that. I'm new to the group but I'm hoping to try some of the other popular titles you guys talk about, but I wanted to offer one of my own as an introduction.

Okay, been a while but, I've got time on my hands, from way back. Gone through a lot of books. Here are the most recent.

I have waded through the Event Group Series and found that they get better and are a good and exciting listen if you like James Rollins, want something like those these are a good fit.

Read up through the last book of the Destroyermen Series. Anderson got the story together again and it's back to being good.

and I'm on the latest Craig Allison's Expeditionary Force series book 9 Armageddon. I've read a bunch between my last post and this one. I'll try and post them from time to time and catch you up on the latest ones.

Event (Event Group Thriller #1) by David L. Golemon , Into the Storm (Destroyermen, #1) by Taylor Anderson , Columbus Day (Expeditionary Force, #1) by Craig Alanson

Lance Charnes (lcharnes) | 226 comments The Watchman takes a popular supporting character (Joe Pike) from an established series (Elvis Cole) and gives him the spotlight. If you're into very hard men doing hard things while following a hard code, this book's for you. If you thrive on lots of bloody action, some amount of gun porn, and widespread seediness, ditto. If you require a lot of personality in your novel's protagonist, or a unique background, or memorable dialog, you may look elsewhere. Three spent shell casings.

That's a good one. The method he uses to fix the problem with the rifle not shooting straight is great. It came to mind when my nephew's new .22 was having issues, so I applied the same fix & it worked. Hamilton really knew his guns.

Gail Back to the question of what I'm currently reading, that would be Total Control by David Baldacci. It's taking me a while to warm up to the characters and the plot. We'll see how it goes.

I don't have any suggestions for a group read but will enjoy hearing other readers input.

Back after a long absence (in case no one noticed I thought I'd mention it). Been reading a lot of my older "pulp" novels. I used to read a lot of these in my "youth" and am now picking up some I* missed back then (you know in my dotageRefurbished). I'm also reading science fiction, fantasy, nonfiction and "stuff".

The pring book I'm reading now is Run, Spy, Run. It's the first Nick Carter Killmaster book (though Nick himself was already a much older character at the time this is where he became a spy). So far good book.

Audio I've been going through Refurbished and I'm about to start An Oblique Approach as I've seen so many rave reviews about that/this series.
