I'll have to get back to you on that, since I haven't met Seichan. I'm sure they'd fight over you, Hugh! :)

message 652: by Alice (new)

Alice (nationofcrumb) | 297 comments Well Hugh, it would be quite the smack down. In the end, though, I'd say that Seichan would win. Fox is pretty bad ass in her own right, but she's no assassin.

Just saying.

Just started Ice Station. I'm only a couple of chapters in, but so far it is reminding me a lot of Ice Hunt

Hugh The Curmudgeon wrote: "That's not a bad thing... I'll bring my thermal reading glasses!"

No it's not, considering Ice Hunt is one of my favorites by James Rollins. Of course I have only begun, so the story still has plenty of time to develop it's own "uniqueness"

Lisa, I hope enjoy Ice Station. It's like a non-stop action movie. Some of the ways characters die are just wrong!

That makes me want to read the book. I like smart-aleky heroes.

Yeah, and I garuntee you'll want a snow hover craft and a launchable grapling hook by the time your done! (I do, but my wife won't let me have the grappling hook, even if I find one.)

Yeah, maghook trumps hovercraft! Area 7 shows many more excellent applications of this device.

My wife would let me have the hover craft because we don't have that much snow around here. I might actually hurt myself with a maghook.

and heck yeah! Traffic Jams! I was raised reading Spiderman, I know how to use that thing!

Definately the maghook.

Ok, just found out what the Maghook is...pretty awesome.

Hugh, I understand now why your wife wouldn't let you have one. I think my hubby would love one too. However, he just put a drill through his thumb not too long ago...a Maghook, hmmmm...I don't think so.

I'm moving into the Patrick Bowers Files (second read) and I'm not sure where I'm going next read wise. Probably something that's more "straight up" urban fantasy for a change of pace...

A discovery of witches?... PNR? or UF? or who cares good book?

message 675: by Alice (new)

Alice (nationofcrumb) | 297 comments I'm only about 100 pages in. So far we have witches, vampires and daemons all running around. The main character, Diana, is an American witch who denies her gift. She also happens to be a tenured Professor.

There are beginning to be hints of romance and there is definitely some mystery. I've got this tickle at the back of my brain saying that this book reminds me (favorably so far) of another book I'm fond of, but the name remains elusive.

All in all, so far so good.

C.S. Splitter | 234 comments I just finished ghost Story, the last book in the Dresden Files. i liked. i was going to write a review, but Mike wrote his first and stole much of what I would have said lol.

Harry is Harry even in his new circumstances. She book is good and the characters are great, but it is a bit circular. Personally, I don't care about the lack of progression in the over all story arc, the characters are worth the read. And Butcher could make the phone book sound interesting.

I wish they would do the series again...and get it right this time.

Eileen Bob the skull is a riot! Going to reading Grave Peril real soon.

Right now I've been more in a romance mood. A girls gotta have a little romance mixed in with A/A once in awhile. : ) Just finished Lothaire and listening to Voyager, which I would also say has plenty of action and adventure in it.

Started The Pawn.

message 695: by Keri (new)

Keri (keri_45) | 110 comments Nothing wrong with a little mixin in...adds some spice. I am currently reading historical romance, but will soon be starting on Stephen Booth's Blind to the Bones.

Yeah, aside from Mouse and the Mister, Bob is my favorite secondary character. Bob is very...basic lol. Also, you will like Bob more as the series progresses.
