Sharon Michael | 449 comments Seems as if a lot of his earlier books had strong sci-fi elements and almost always a romance as well but most of them seemed paced like many of the thrillers I've read.

Just started I, Sniper.

Janet Evonovich is supposed to have a sense of humor... is this a fun read?

message 906: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 115 comments She is great. I love her books and yes she has a huge sense of humor. Lulu makes me laugh out loud and that looks kind of weird when I'm in my car alone. Stephanie takes everything in stride but she has this thing of getting things blown up, especially cars. I would totally recommend her.

Cool. Since I'm out of Bubba books (Bubba and the Dead Woman) I need a good book that helps me laugh. Especially since I went from BLOOD STAINED to Swan Song.

I love both books but it's like I'm quoting Poe here.

"Once upon a midnight dreary while I pondered, weak and weary over many pages of forgotton Lore, Suddenly there came a rushing, as if someone gently flushing water cross my chamber floor...only this and nothing more.

I leapt astride my motor scooter hailed by a large black bird that screamed ROTOR ROOTER! ..and away go troubles down the drain!"

Or something like that. Anyway, some comic relief will be nice. Swan Song is twisting my heart strings and makin' me cry...oops... more grumpy guy cool points gone huh? (Sorry Splitter!)

message 908: by Diana (new)

Diana I'm just about to start reading Forever Hunger by David Salkin.

message 909: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 15 comments Bible Camp Bloodbath. surprisingly good so far.

message 910: by Janey (new)

Janey | 158 comments I started The Judas Strain by James Rollins the other day but didn't get to read any over the weekend as I had my niece staying with me.

message 911: by Eileen (new)

Eileen Finished the The Gray Man thoughts about the book to come. Also finished reading Cry Wolf and Alpha & Omega: A Companion Novella to Cry Wolf which I enjoyed. Started Taken and after finishing The Gray Man it reminded me I've been away from Joe Pike to long.

I just started MHI and, this is a good example of action adventure with an Urban Fantasy setting!

Owen's cool, but Julia...what a BABE! Splitter, this girl can break down a .45 cal pistol blindfolded! and she does her own gunsmithing!

That's my kind of woman there!

message 916: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I might start MHI, not sure yet. So...anyone ever get stuck on what to read next? Not that I don't have plenty to choose from it's just...I'm not sure which direction to go in.

I got it from Audible.com for free with my one credit for this month!

(Yea, I'm cheap.)

message 918: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I was thinking of using one of my free credits for it this month.

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) | 5326 comments Mod
That's how I got it. If you want it in a Kindle format, you can buy it direct from the author (his website anyway).

It' starts fast, and it's pretty good, got a good sense of humor. Noir-gritty too.

message 920: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I guess I'm in the mood for something with humor, action, a little romance, a female that could do it all and take no prisoners, kind of book. See why I have no idea what to read next, lol.

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) | 5326 comments Mod
Well, Lucy Guiardino is a good character for that too, and she's the main character (or lead).

And, Monster Hunters International is fun too... I'm likin' it.

I need to get my wife to read that. She loves to shoot, but thinks it is illegal for a woman to clean her own pistols in this state (of course, my state is weird so that moght be true...).

Get her a nice designer cleaning kit, with all the trimmings. Maybe in a nice pastel case???? Does she like pastels? If not, you know, one in her favorite color.

message 924: by The Pirate Ghost, Long John Silvers Wanna-be (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) | 5326 comments Mod
The only way my wife would get into gun cleaning is if I told her it was okay to shoot at her in-laws.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
....humm, frowned on in most states.

message 926: by The Pirate Ghost, Long John Silvers Wanna-be (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) | 5326 comments Mod
Yea, that's probably a good thing.

Besides, he in-laws would return fire. My mother is one of the best shots I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She's from Texas.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
Yep, almost as good as being from Tennessee....

message 928: by The Pirate Ghost, Long John Silvers Wanna-be (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2933 comments Mod
And Sam Huston and others:

Tennessee and Texas were closely tied back when. No wonder Texans are good shots.

C.S. Splitter | 234 comments That's the truth! I try to explain it to people, but you just have to live there a while.

I've given up om the gun cleaning thing. Het last comment was, "Why? It's just going to get dirty again the next time I shoot it."

Other than that, she's perfect.

By the way, ever see the movie Shooter?

"Welcome to Tennessee, patron state of shootin' stuff".

message 942: by Diana (new)

Diana I just started Carte Blanche, a James Bond novel by Jeffrey Deaver.

message 943: by Allison (new)

Allison (aquabel) | 33 comments Lisa, Dean Koontz Ice Bound is kind of action/adventure. It's not horror, like many of his other books. It's so long ago that I read it, I can't quite remember the plot, but I recall liking it very much. It's probably one of the first action/adventure books I ever read.

I just started Ice Hunt by James Rollins. Love his books, so am looking forward to this one.

I loved the Judas Strain (of course I like the entire series). I'm with Lisa, Ice Hunt is my favorite (especially among the stand alones novels.) when it comes to Rollins.

I'm reading Monster Hunter International and so far, it's a lot of fun! (in a Buffy-esque sort of way.)

Eileen Curmudgeon wrote: "Eileen, I noticed your reading MHI #1, How are you liking it so far?"

Just getting into it and so far, so good. I can tell this will be a good one.

I have to agree on this gun cleaning thing, why? If it came in a pretty designer box, maybe? Now, my favorite type of gun to use around the house is my staple gun. One year a guy stapled christmas lights all around his house, talk about staple gun envy, lol! I do wish they made "girlie" staple guns!
