What are you reading now?
He's talking about Event I wrote a Goodreads review on it. Someone else needs to read it so we can get a second opinion.
Alice, with my almost three hours in the car every workday, I've found audiobooks to be a godsend.
Me too, and I've found that the Text to Speach feature on my kindle works for me. (so I don't have to pay for audio books!)
Yes, I go to Amazon, click on the genre I want to look at, then select the order of books to come up "Low to High" and select 4 star and up and I get all the 4 and 5 star (Amazon rated) books. Free books galore.
The kindle reads them. You have to get used to the voice. It's like having your GPS Navigator read to you (well a little better than that) but it works for me. I guess being a whole reader who thinks in sounds and pictures helps. And In the Navy I grew used to listeing to some really distorted voices and radio communications.

Yes, we tried them on a trip once and neither of us liked it. Three hours! That is too long. However, on our leaf peeping trip was six hours but we listened to CD's we like.
I dug around and found the old Goldfinger album so we listened to that. Then an old Beatles album. The library has a large print Goldfinger so I am in luck for the discussion.
I counted their Norah Lofts and they now have 19 which surprised me as the last time I looked there were only 3. Maybe they are buying them again.

Just finished this recently myself and agree that Crais did a great job with Larkin and her attitude and her mouth. I was prepared to dislike her, but couldn't.

I love Bubba stories. Here's a blog by the author C.L. Belvil. It's almost as funny as the book.

I went to the ubs to find more Pike books, and the first Elvis Cole book, but no luck. :(
I started Sandstorm last night. I haven't gotten far, but so far, so good.

Night Road
I started Night Road last night since hubby took Fire Season from me and read most of it. I don't recommend it as it takes too long to develop and for me was too sad. I hope to get back to Fire Season soon which has a few laughs.

Event came home with me from the library last week and I enjoyed it tremendously. Fast read, interesting premise with a 'different' twist on the usual Roswell/ gray alien theme. I'd have liked a bit more depth to the characters but this was a first book, so it may improve in that respect.
Liked it enough I plan to read it again, with a very good chance it will end up on my personal bookshelf for regular re-reads.
The library only has one other of his books, unfortunately the one that sounds the least interesting to me personally. I'll see about getting some of the others through inter-library loan though the latest, Legacy, sounds particularly interesting as it too appears to have a sci-fi element.
I'm glad you liked Event Sharon. I found it fun. THe bad guys were pretty scary and I have the next one on my kindle!

Yes ... I'm really tempted to put Legacy on my next Amazon order, something I very rarely do before reading a book by an author I haven't been reading for some time.
I do have to admit to a particular fondness for the military/sci-fi sort of action/adventure ... David Weber, Lois Bujold, S.M.Stirling and Eric Flint all reside on my bookshelves as 'old friends'.
I liked the way Golemon handled the military. He is an ex-marine after all. And the "destroyers" weren't they scary?

Me too. His contemporary, the guy who wrote Pulse, wrote a review for him too. Pulse is another one of the same genre that was a fun read, not quite as good, but fun.

I had to buy it to. Our library doesn't have any of the Bond novels anymore. (I read them when I was in the 8th or 9th grade, but that's been a little while...and I don't seem to have them anymore). :)

That's cool. I've been wanting to read some of those. I love the older movies with Connery.

I'm all about the jumping around, Eileen.
I'm reading these books right now:
Zero Sight--excellent book so far
Crops and Robbers
Ghost Road Blues
put on the backburner for now (have some reviews to do)
Sandstorm
listening to The Angel Experiment

I finished The Bower's Files and Lowery and Tallent 13, I'm 1/3 of the way through Goldfinger now.

Adam Hall - The Mandarin Cypher
Jack Higgins - Touch The Devil
Ridley Pearson - Beyond Recognition
and others

I'm a little confused on what's going on in the story. Maybe it's just me but I'm having a hard time separating the good people from the evil people. Hopefully as I read more it will be better explained. The book isn't as scary as I was thinking it would be. I stopped reading it to move on to Goldfinger and Watchman, which are excellent so far. After I finish those two I'll go back and finish Black and Orange.
What do you think of Black and Orange, Jason?

October has been the strangest reading month for me...
I'm reading Sandstorm at night before I go to sleep, and I am enjoying it. Rollins' writing style takes a bit to get used to, but now that I am, I like it. The history and archeological elements are very interesting, and I like the characters. I'm still trying to figure out Kara though.
I finished The Queen: A Patrick Bowers Thriller, A Cold Day for Murder and GoldfingerI'm reading Secret of the Sandsnow and on deck is Bubba and the 12 Deadly Days of Christmas, probably followed by Temple. I started October dragging my feet, but I'm back in stride now.

I was thinking it's been a slow month but it's been good reading, that's true. Oh, and I left out Tallent & Lowery 13which I also finished and Demon Girl(which I think you may enjoy Lady D, and anyone who enjoys UF and PNRs)
I went back to walking my dog 40 mins or more a day and bringing my kindle in text to speach mode. I've lost touch with the real world, no NPR on the way to work and, strangely, I'm a lot happier. I even actually read a for a bit at night. I could be reading more. This is more like the pace I set when I first got my kindle. I want to be doing a bit more actual reading (necessary when using the text to speach mode if you want the "feel" of the story).
I get by (P-{D> (when I'm not getting ticked off at elitist bozos.)

So far, I'm not loving her, Eileen. I feel sorry for her loss, but she's kind of pushy, (view spoiler) , but it's early days yet.

I thought that Black and Orange would hit the spot for my Halloween craving, but it didn't. There's nothing really wrong with the writing or anything, imo, and I found the characters interesting, but it's just not what I really want to read right now. So I gave it up, too. Maybe I'll read it next year.

I just haven't hit on anything that I'm passionately in love with.

So far, I haven't found a thing I liked on audio but our library is going to it which annoys me. Some paragraphs are worth reading over and over again but no one has a voice I want to listen to that long.
