J. (jdrew) | 140 comments I am currently reading A Conspiracy of Faith (Department Q, #3) by Jussi Adler-Olsen the third Department Q book I've read, though this one is really #2 in the series. I like the main characters and the bad guy is really a bad guy.

I've finished 1-7 of The Tome of Bill - Volume 1 by Rick Gualtieri . It was entertaining.

I've been reading (well, listening) to some S.M. Stirling and his odd dystopian alternate future books. Dies the Fire (Emberverse, #1) by S.M. Stirling and Island in the Sea of Time (Nantucket, #1) by S.M. Stirling . Both enjoyable reads.

I managed book six of MHI, came out in Audio-book form recently.

Some Sci-fi with Barbarians at the Gates (The Decline and Fall of the Galactic Empire, #1) by Christopher G. Nuttall which was reminiscent of Honor Harrington by Webber.

Greg Wagner | 4 comments The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror by Christopher Moore
It is a funny take on Christmas and murder in a small town, with a misguided angel appearance and a hilarious zombie apocalypse ending, sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

message 4825: by John (new)

John Devalle | 29 comments As the Koh-i-Noor diamond was in the news recently, I decided I'd read 'The Moonstone' by Wlikie Collins, a novel based on that jewel that's so beautiful but is thought by some to be cursed. Collins novel is regarded as a classic, but I couldn't get on with it. I don't think I've come across a book so laboriously written, and such hard labour to read. So I gave up long before the end.

message 4826: by Scott (new)

Scott | 126 comments I recently read:
The Gunslinger (3rd time)
Needful Things and
Gwendy's Button Box

Now I'm reading The Girl in the Maze. OK so far, just a little confusing with time jumping.

Great choices Robert...Sahara is one of my favorite Cussler books. I haven't read The 14th Colony yet, but have read others by Berry that I really liked. Hope you enjoy!

Robert wrote: "Thanks Lisa. I was enjoying Sahara until it mysteriously disappeared. Guess I'm sharing it now."

I wish I could get my boys to read. They read everyday when they were younger, but now that they are teenagers they just can't seem to "find the time". I am always telling them to try some of my favorites by Clive Cussler, James Rollins, or Matthew Reilly. I think they would really enjoy them, but they are just too busy these days. Hopefully, when they get older, they will pick up reading again.

message 4839: by Robert (new)

Robert Rapoza | 26 comments We struggle with the same problem. My son purchased Sahara and several other Cussler books when he was younger because he knew I enjoyed reading his work. As he got older, his life revolved around sports and video games. I'm hoping this is a sign of things to come.
