I'm currently reading Armor by John Steakley which is a military-SF book with some long and exciting combat action sequences.

Classic, formulaic, cliche, good.
It's very similar to the second book in the series, Night of the Hawk (the first one was added AFTER the second, and I never got to read the third).
We have a Russian deep-cover agent impersonating an American top-shot pilot in order to get a hand of Area 51 spy stuff aircraft technology. In NoTH, we had an American pilot captured by the Soviets and brainwashed to think he's Russian, and of course, there's a state-of-art plane there, as well!
It's been 20 years since I've read some of the books in this series, and it's time to start fresh. Simple, straightforward action, like everything made in the 80s.

I still do a lot of reading but it's mostly to find out what other authors are doing so I can make my book better.

This book sounds intriguing...Looking forward to hearing what you think once you are finished reading it.

March Violets by Philip Kerr
a terrific detective novel which is set in 1936 Berlin during the rise of the Nazi Party as the Olympic Games are about to begin. The mystery part is good but when you add the vivid historical setting it really puts the story over the top, I gave it 5 stars.

The Chalk Man
The Girl With All the Gifts
Noir
The Call of Cthulhu
Now I'm reading The Outsider.
Just finished The Titan's Curse on audio and I started The Promise. The audiobooks are a life-saver. I'm so busy with stuff that I don't always have time to open a book. I listen to lots of audios instead.

I understand...For every one book I read, I add 100 to my tbr pile!

True. I've said before I asked God to let me stay around till I caught up on my TBR List, but since I keep adding to it (usually I add more than I finish in a given period of time) it's probably not a reasonable request...

Book two in the Shadow Ops series. This is a series that I discovered here in our AAA group and it is becoming one of my favorites. Can't wait to read the next in the series.

I enjoyed the first Shadow Ops series as well, Lisa. As you and Mike have said, there are too many books.
I finished Watchmen, which was actually an assigned read for my class. My first time reading it.

I've reread Night of the Hawk (Patrick McLanahan #2) several times, can't find a nice paperback #3, so I'm gonna continue with book #4 onwards. Just a few dozen to go ...
