I watched a bunch of Dexter on the pc before I got feeling very guilty about it. A friend has lent me season 3 so no spoilers, please!

I got all the books but gave up halfway through, I think, the third one. One case where the tv show is much better than the book.

We watched the first season of The Walking Dead over the weekend. I really liked it. Not usually into zombies, but it was okay. Only six episodes though. I felt rather cheated.

I've thought about getting the books. But I think I am with you on this Patti that it's probably one of those rare occasions where the tv show is better than the books.

Vince Masuka is one of those guys I would probably hate to work with irl. But he does get the best one-liners in the show ;-)

I'd rather have six episodes like that than 21 of the usual drivel. I think that they were worried that the gore might put people off, but it's only incidental to the great scripts and great acting. The second season is coming to FX in the UK any time now.

More a case of about to watch, but if you have Sky and like crime drama......you may not know that the reputedly fantastic Italian tv series based on by Giancarlo De Cataldo starts tonight on channel Sky Arts 1 at 9pm

Dexter is one of the few programs where I prefer the program to the books. I read the first one but felt that it didn't compare to the series at all so I won't bother reading any more. Can't wait for the next series.

Holds hand up to say I didn't think much of The Walking Dead. Now slinks away.

Any show with the courage to spend a couple of minutes fixed on the face of a man trying to make a hellish decision without a single edit, without music and without dialogue, relying solely on the skill of the actor is a show that will always get my vote.

No, I meant the bloke who was trying to work himself up to shoot the zombie that had been his wife. The horror and anguish of that was etched on his face as emotions warred inside and it was all done almost silently. One word for it - masterful.

The gooey special effects are good too.

My issue with it is the clichéd characters and the stupid things they do. Like the man who cut off his own hand rather than sawing through the pipe he was attached to!

It is sort of a comic book parody of everything you'd expect from a zombie programme. But that's okay by me. It hurts if I think too much.

It's based on the comic books (: My uncle has them!

But it's the character moments that lift it up above the usual. There's the scene where one sister has to wait, holding the other sister, until she turns before she can find the courage to do what has to be done. That's real drama. That's worth some of the nonsense.

I'd have to say that was the best bit for me so far, Darren. I actually sat thinking 'what would I do in that situation?'

I didn't know about the comic books, Katy. Makes sense.

It has its moments and it's certainly watchable. I don't know, I think I just expected more. I'll still watch the next season, but I won't be too upset if I miss an episode or two.

Did anyone see Andrew Lincoln in Afterlife with Lesley Sharp? They were both brilliant in that. It makes a change for a British actor to play a hero rather than a villain on American TV.

Have you heard anything about when the new series is due to be shown here Shaun? I know it started in the States about 2 weeks ago.

I hope it's soon. I only have 2 episodes left to watch from series 5.

We're watching a programme staring Jeremy Charkson way back when he had hair. Freaky stuff on African satellite TV. This is why we have so many DVDs...

That was an absolutely stunning show. It only lasted two seasons, but in that time it was terrifying, brilliant, touching, funny and terrifying. (I meant to say terrifying twice)

Boo! That seems like a long time to wait. I just know I am going to have withdrawals between now and then and I will be tempted to go look at the discussion boards on IMDB just for a quick "fix". Last time I did that though I ended up accidently reading a spoiler for the end of series 4 before I had seen it.

I won't mention the spoiler because I know Patti hasn't got that far yet ;-)

Actually I think I might have. I can't remember how far I got watching it online. I know I missed a few episodes as they wouldn't download. It's much better watching it on DVD.

I just discovered Wilfred last night. Now I'm out to record, download and YouTube every episode I can find.

What's a Wilfred? Why is it good? What's it about? Who is in it?

It's about a guy with a dog, but he sees the dog as a big Aussie guy in a dog suit. It was apparently pretty big in Australia, and was adapted into a US version starring Frodo (Elijah Wood).

Which version are you watching Paul? American or Ozzie?

Watching the US on TV, downloading/YouTubing the Aussie. Can't say yet which is better.

The link to the YouTube clip is from the Aussie one. The US version has the same guy playing Wilfred, and he writes/co-writes the episodes, so should be close to par.

Just watched 'Crash'. Very clever film. I really enjoyed how all the characters were entwined in each others lives.
