What were your least favorite books of the Summer 2011 Challenge?

Dee (austhokie) | 8964 comments Body Surfing - If I didn't need it for the best friends and lovers task, I probably would have DNF'd it - but Anita isn't a common name among authors...too much personal politics and lack of research/plot inconsistencies

Isabell (purzel) | 246 comments I was really disappointed by Sea Glass. I had liked Snyder's Study series and didn't think that Storm Glass was too bad, either, but in Sea Glass the protagonist sort of lost me. I couldn't get close to her emotionally, usually not a good sign in a novel. Perhaps the last book in the series will be better again.

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 11206 comments My biggest disappointment this season was The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. The premise sounded so good, but I found it pointlessly long and the ending left me cold *sigh*.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3043 comments I read that. It was okay. Mine was "The Bone People".

JC (jmnc) | 638 comments no one star reads (thank goodness!) but these I gave 2 stars for "It was ok"

The Lower Depths
The Taming of the Duke
Olive Kitteridge *This won the pulitzer?*

Two-star reads:

The Passage
The Uncoupling
Becoming George Sand"

Ouch, I'm about to start The Passage and now you have me worried!

Gayla Bassham (sophronisba) | 64 comments I know other people who really liked it! I think I'm just not a zombie kind of girl.

Bea Mrs. Dalloway - 2 stars

Christine US (christineus) | 575 comments Bait
Vanished
Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List
Nights Of Rain And Stars
Sweet Valley Confidential: Ten Years Later
Bumped

Sadly, this isn't even all of them...I just had some real losers this season.

I thought it was drawn out and boring. I expected something different.

Lahni | 312 comments My only 2 star book this time

Out of the Silent Planet

Sounds just like Wicked! I was expecting something wonderful like the musical, but it was very drawn out and boring, as you said! Makes me wonder if all his books are like that...

My 2 stars for Summer 2011
Over Sea, Under Stone
A Prefect's Uncle
Blue Dahlia
Equus

These were two I didn't finish, even though I started them early in the challenge. They were just too boring and/or dense. I'm sure they both would have ended up as one or two stars.

The Left Hand of Darkness
The Gift of Stones

Jennifer W | 466 comments I struggled with Lincoln at Gettysburg: The Words that Remade America (which also won the Pulitzer, so I feel your pain, JenC) and Lake Overturn. I'm glad I had the challenge to motivate me to finish them as they are both books I own, and after finishing, I promptly listed them on goodreads' bookswap.
