I was surprised how much less I liked this book.

The book I read was about the rescue of the zoo animals, in Baghdad, during the U.S. and Iraqi battles in 2003. Strangely, dogs were included in the rescue, because they are considered exotic animals in Iraq and kept in zoos. Sadly, only 30 out of 650 animals survived the onslaught. This was one of the most emotionally difficult books I've ever read.
