I read The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman. (THis was approved in the task help thread) With the setting in Ancient Israel, the costume possibilities include the traditional garb of the Essenes (all white), the flowing robes of the other desert-dwellers, and could include a stuffed dove on one's shoulder as someone who works in the dovecote.
at 504 pages, this is a ****Big Book*** ticket please.
I also read Mary Queen of France by Jean Plaidy. I must admit, this books was a struggle for me to finish, and I am big Tudor-phile. I must say it would be fun to dress up in the Tudor England style, however. Especially if it is cold on Halloween!!
