Sandy Ginger- I loved the book! I think it is one of my favorites now. I have to see the movie now & see if the hubby will watch it with me. Such drama! The ending was fantastic! Now I'm wondering about the other book Night Circus....

I doubt I could get my hubby to watch the movie and if I did, he would fall asleep anyway. Terrible movie watcher......

;o)

Our library has the movie and Sarah's Key which I read and loved!!!

message 53: by Sandy (new)

Sandy My husband watches movies but he seems to ruin them but being Mr. Commentary during them. "Oh, they don't think we know the father wrote the letter" "really, that woman just left the house". I need duct tape to enjoy the movie!! I had to buy Sarah's Key because I loved that book so much but I was not so happy about having to read subtitles.

Sarah's Key was a favorite of mine from last year. This was a title I might not have chosen, if it had not been for my Harlan reading group.

My hubby says stuff like that just during my regular shows I watch.... Grrrrrr :o)

GO GIRL!! I am so sorry I missed your b-day! With everything going on, it totally slipped my mind. I will make it up to ya!!

message 58: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments This afternoon, I'm starting a book by a new author (to me). I've heard of him, but sadly, have never read any of his books! :(
Feel free to let me know if he''s going to be worth my time!! LOL
No Time for Goodbye by Linwood Barclay

message 59: by Sandy (new)

Sandy I'm reading Dragon Night by Stephanie Campbell. New author for me and another genre for me too (fantasy). Mixing fiction with fantasy makes this an interesting book as the main character didn't realize he was a dragon until he turned 16 and now his world is turning upside down. Can't wait to see what happens next.

message 60: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Sandy, I don't think I've read fantasy before, or at least not to my knowledge. Maybe I have and not realized it?? I'll be anxious to see your rating when you finish your book. Who knows?? You just may turn me on to a new genre!

Love fantasy books!!!! Okay these are the books I'm suppose to be reading:

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Blood Vines

and I'm currently reading The Brass Verdict by Michael Connelly

message 62: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I'm starting Alice at Heart by Deborah Smith. It's not my usual genre, but figured what the heck! I think this is listed as paranormal/fantasy. I'm going to give it a whirl. Who knows? New year may equal new genre. :)

message 63: by Sandy (new)

Sandy I started reading Blood Vines by Erica Spindler - my buddy read book (yeah!)

I'm in the middle of Three....... Which one will I finish first????

message 65: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I had to switch my reading material. My Kindle became possessed yesterday & Amazon is sending me a replacement & should have it tomorrow, thank goodness!!! Of course, warrant ran out (have had it since 2008) & so they are sending me a Kindle 3 keyboard.
Anyway....now I'm reading All the Numbers: A Novel by Judy Merrill Larsen.

Blood Vines by Erica Spindler

On Chapter 20 and so far so good!!!!

message 68: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Still reading Alice at Heart. I had to wait for my new Kindle to arrive in order to pick it back up again. It's sort of going slow...maybe because I don't usually read this genre?? (fantasy)

Fantasy is hard sometimes, if I'm not in the mood and then its what the fantasy is about sometimes????

have you read anything by Storm Front

Jim Butcher

It's fantasy, mystery mixed with all sorts of regular creatures you know and some you don't. I love it!!! I've read the first two and need to get back to the series. They had a very brief show on the books on SyFy a few years back and I totally digged the show and then they cancelled it!!! They put it on the wrong night and time I think... Never tried it in any other slot to see if it got better viewing... I was so ticked off.

message 70: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Nope...have never heard of him or the book! I'll have to try it. The one I'm reading picks up, then slows down. Sometimes, I think to myself it's a bit far-fetched...but then DUH! Isn't that what fantasy is?! I'm not going to give up on it.....

Maybe I've just read so many mysteries, etc lately & that's why I'm just not rolling with it. I have 8 days to finish it...I want to read this one & one more before the end of the month.

message 71: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Tonight I started the YA book, Don't Die, Dragonfly by Linda Joy Singleton. I guess it looks like I'm on a fantasy/paranormal kick. :)

message 72: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments And here we go again...LOL....I'm going to start (and should finish--it's a short story) another paranormal story called Jessica by Christine Sutton.

message 73: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments This afternoon, I'm starting 10th Anniversary by James Patterson. I'm excited for 2 reasons: He's one of my favorite authors AND this is one of my favorite series of his!!

Love James!!!!

Started this afternoon: Betrayal in Death by J.D. Robb

message 75: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Started Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith. I thought it sounded good and the beginning is really good but I just read the reviews on Goodreads and they were ok. I hope I like it.

message 76: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Oh, I had my husband read Water for Elephants and he really liked it. I'm like "where are you at in the book?" "do you like it?" and asking him questions about the book as he's reading it. Sometimes he would say 3 or 4 words about what was happening before I could open my mouth just to beat me at my questions. Now we can watch the movie and critic it with the book.

Yeah, well I decided to read another book before January ends...

January Kills Me by Evan Katy

one because of the title and the month and two because I want to read at least one Kindle title each month this year!!!!

:o)

I will go back to my Betrayal in Death tonight since I have only 5% left on my kindle title.

message 78: by Ginger (last edited Jan 31, 2012 05:01PM) (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I'm starting Misconception by Christy Hayes. This book was picked for me to read this month (Feb.) by another group I'm in here on GR. I've been wanting to read this, but have been putting it on the back burner so to speak. I'll keep ya'll posted!

Finished 2 more books and now I'm back with Betrayal in Death. Love it, just got distracted....

:o)

I might have to read Explosive Eighteen though this weekend, since I'm having withdrawals from the new series I found by Evan Katy.

message 80: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I decided to read By The Time You Read This by Lola Jaye. I figured this would be a good one to use for the "B" in my last name for my name challenge. I was going to join Sandy and you on the "books read on Nook/Kindle", but seeing as how I've been reading pretty much nothing but my Kindle books, I decided not to....LOL...I guess I'm being silly...AGAIN! LOL

message 81: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I'm also going to use the above mentioned book as one of the 24 books I really wanted to read this year. Nothing wrong with using books for double purposes, right?? :)

message 82: by Magpie67 (new)

LOL! Yeah, you use your Kindle way more than I do!!!! Still reading Betrayal in Death as I haven't spent a lot of time reading yet.... Today, more but I did read a bit this am

message 83: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Going to read a short story called Officer Down by David DeLee.

message 84: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments This afternoon I've started reading The Glass Case: A Short Story by Kristin Hannah. Pretty good so far.

message 85: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments After much looking and thinking and browsing, I finally decided what I'm going to start reading tonight. After I fill the tub with hot water & lots of bubbles, I will put my Kindle in a ziplock freezer bag and start Drawing Free by Elena Aitken. What a way to relax!! LOL

message 86: by Magpie67 (new)

Magpie67 | 617 comments Mod
I didn't put my Kindle in a freezer bag when I stepped into the tub. LOL!!! Never thought to do that... I was really really careful though how I held it and I was partly sitting up too. :o)

Jenna's Cowboy: A Novel

I only started it because I left my Betrayal book downstairs and I was undressed already for the tub. ;o)

message 87: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments LOL!! I always put my Kindle in a bag whenever I'm close to water. I put it in a bag when we go to the beach as well....I don't want sand blowing on it & possibly getting inside. I, too, sit up in the tub while reading....lol

message 88: by Magpie67 (new)

Magpie67 | 617 comments Mod
I'm going to get a bag to put in my room so the next time, I'm safe. ;o)

message 89: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments A Freezer bag is perfect...you can seal it & with it being clear, reading is easy. AND you can still use the Menu button easily! :)

message 90: by Sandy (new)

Sandy I am reading Born To Die by Lisa Jackson and it is nice to read after that last book I read. I like her books. The killing are all tied together to this book and they tell you why but I don't think that is the main reason....

message 91: by Ginger (last edited Feb 07, 2012 01:06PM) (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I have a few Lisa Jackson books but have only read one or two of them. When I bought some of them, I didn't realize at the time they were part if a series. :(

message 92: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I decided to read a romance for a change...lol...needed something a little light and it's been awhile since I read anything by Barbara Delinsky. So, I decided to read More Than Friends

message 93: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments OH SANDY..............guess what?! The 4th book in the "To Die" series by Lisa Jackson comes out in june of this year. Thought you might like to know! I pre-ordered mine today and the other two I needed to complete the series I bought for just over $4 a piece! SWEET!!!!! LOL

I read one book by Lisa Jackson... I will have to check that out.

I'm reading Seduction in Death by J.D. Robb

message 95: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Thanks for the heads up! I really liked the one I just finished and wanted to start in with another one of hers but then the library had my reserve ready so I am reading The Night Circus. Don't know if you have read it yet but after Water for Elephants I was in a circus mood. LOL. This book is totally different. I am about halfway through and it is quite mysterious, not suspenseful-like but like not knowing what to expect next. I'm just flowing along reading it not knowing what/who will show up in the next chapter.

message 96: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I have been wanting to read Night Circus, but have to wait awhile. The waiting list at the library is pretty long. At that rate, it may be late spring/early summer. Haha!

I want to read Night Circus too!!! My Avoca library has a copy so some day.....

I forgot to mention I'm still reading Jenna's Cowboy: A Novel

Hope to finish that one this weekend. ;o)

message 98: by Sandy (last edited Feb 13, 2012 02:20PM) (new)

Sandy I'm reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close as I wanted to go to the movie but wanted to read the book first. I have mixed feelings about the book- I don't know what the hype is all about. The family is really mixed up, I mean really mixed up!! I'm going to stick with it as I want to see if he figures out the key. I don't know if I want to see the movie now though

message 99: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I'm going to read a short story next-- Jack Erickson--Perfect Crime.

I wonder Sandy if that would be a good book club pick for my Harlan club???

You know they change the movies from the books... could be they made the movie better????

I'm trying to read multiple books as usual....

Insatiable and Jenna's Cowboy: A Novel
