I downloaded two free cookbooks on my kindle and I need to look at them soon!

Yesterday I started reading The Dark Tide by Andrew Gross. He's co-wrote a couple of books w/James Patterson. I believe this is the 1st one he's written alone. It's book 1 of a series. Pretty good so far.

It's a YA book and I'm liking it!!!

This morning, I started Left Neglected by Lisa Genova. I've heard so many great things about this book. I'm about 10% into it, but really think it's going to be a good one!

I haven't decided what I am going to read next as I just finished my book a few mins ago. So many interesting choices! I may have to pick a genre, pick a random number & go from there....LOL...I know, SILLY! :)

No not silly..... a mood thing!

Ok...I narrowed it down to 2! One is pretty short so I may finish it today. Here is what I am starting today: Haunted Ground: Ghost Photos from the Gettysburg Battlefield by Hollister Ann Grant and Her Wiccan, Wiccan Ways by Traci E. Hall. Guess I'm in a paranormal mood! LOL

LOL! We must have the "great minds" thing going on. I'm enjoying the Haunted Ground book. The photos are really cool & they have a story with each one. This is just way cool! :)

Need to finish it tonight and I'm behind on two books for my reading quest... Thank goodness all my shows are having finales this week.

I'm not too far into it yet, bt I'm currently reading Now You See Her by James Patterson. This is one of the top 24 books I have on my list to read this year. I'm slowly prodding along. :)

I quickly read four books tonight that I picked up from the library.... Children books that I will use for my weekly article.

Hey ladies...sorry I've been MIA for so long. A lot has been happening this summer (both good & bad) and I'm not going to bore you w/details. Let's just say, we're slowly recovering & thank goodness I've been able to keep my sanity by reading! LOL
ANYWAY...I'm 1/2 way thru Undone by Karin Slaughter. Hope to finish it sometime today or tomorrow. This will be the 3rd one in a row from this author that I have read, so after this one, I'll take a break and read something else. :)

This afternoon, I started The Mercy by Beverly Lewis. When I finish this one, I'll have completed the trilogy as well as all of this author's books (except for her children's books). Finally...a series/author I am caught up on! LOL

I've started Too Close to Home by Linwood Barclay this afternoon. I think it's gonna be a gooood one! :)

Tonight I'm going to start Never Look Away: A Thriller by Linwood Barclay. I really enjoy his books...full of suspense & plot twists!

I've started reading Friendship Bread by Darien Gee. I've read some really good reviews on this one. This book also included recipes for Friendship Bread & the starter mix. I haven't made any in a couple of years, mainly because I didn't know what I needed to make the "starter". Now I can't wait to make some bread & pass it & the recipe onto others! :)

What a rush! Like reading a Karin Slaughter/Chelsea Cain book with the Eve character from JD Robb series and a touch of Stephanie Plum humor.... Totally awesome! Almost finished with it.

Sounds great! I'm currently reading Broken by Karin Slaughter. Just started it last night, so not too far into it.

Just started Defending Jacob by William Landay. Not too far into it but hoping to really do some major reading today. Hubby will be watching the race & football games, so.....I'll be curled up on the couch with my nose in a book all day. :)

Ok...I'm starting a book at the opposite end of the spectrum from my mystery/murder books...LOL!! Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James. Should be a quick read like the first one in the series & also keep it occupied this week while hubby is having his surgery, etc. Hmmm....wonder if I should try to hide the cover in the waiting room? HA HA!

Remember When by Nora Roberts and JD Robb


The first part was a bit too fluffy after the two dark books I read. I loved the sister Trilogy by Nora, but I really wanted to get into Eve and Roarke's world. Its a two part diamond robbery and the lure that some of the diamonds have never been found. Now the granddaughter has written a book and someone is looking for the treasure and leaving dead bodies again. So the second part is a rush... Hope to finish today!

This afternoon, I'm starting In the Land of Second Chances: A Novel by George Shaffner. I bought this at my library's book sale awhile back & finally getting around to reading it. :)

Yesterday I started All We Know of Heaven: A Novel by Jacquelyn Mitchard. I've read her books before & enjoyed them. She's the author of The Deep End of the Ocean, which was the first book of hers I read.

This book is gut-wrenching already and I have a feeling I'm going to need tissues at some point.

Trying to finish a few that I started...... Would help my 3 books behind status as well. :o)

Hope to accomplish more book reading this week and weekend since I don't need to decorate for Christmas or cook a Turkey meal.

I am starting to read The Giver. This is my favorite book. I want to read her latest book Son which is the last book in the series so I thought I would just start fresh and read them from start to finish. Such torture LOL

I'm currently 70% through Afraid To Die by Lisa Jackson. This is book #4 in her "To Die" series. Hoping to finish it in the next day or so. ***Jumping up & down***, I'll be caught up on this series.....been a long tme since I could say that! :)

I'm getting ready to dive into The Black Dahlia by James Ellroy. This title is listed on Dena's bookshelves, so it will count towards our group's Birthday Challenges! :)

I am finishing up my reading on Lois Lowry. I just read the 4 books in the series (started over) so the last book Son made sense. I am now reading Number the Stars.(I got some signed books from her). She is one of my favorite authors!

I have only read one of her books but I have several by her on my shelf. My son read 3 of her books but I only got The Giver completed. Love that book and I still recommend it often. Great conversation piece, lots of information to discuss.

Hey Dena, when you read The Black Dahlia, did it start off slow for you?? I'm not quite 50pgs into it and I think I may finally be coming up on the guys finding the body. I'm still going to read/finish it...just wondering & wanted your opinion. Thanks!

I remember that it drove me crazy..... I read this one a long time ago before children and moving to Avoca. I remember falling asleep while reading it one night in the chair and I had a dream about it.... I woke up and started to read it again. LOL! I think I liked it but I don't remember how long it took me to read or if it was slow......

I just remember having to continue reading it, until it was done.

I just finished Before I Go To Sleep. It was a good one.
I remember reading The Black Dahlia and liking it, but I just recently saw the movie and it is weird. It takes a long time in the movie for them to find the body.

I'm going to read a two or three more chapters in it (The Black Dahlia) and if it still doesn't pick up, I'll start something else and then go back to it. I know I'll finish it, and it may take awhile, but I WILL have it done by the end of the month. :) If not sooner!

I think it must get better, like, Dena, this Deena read long before kids. It did get me interested in the Black Dahlia and I have gone on to read several other books about the subject.

I fell asleep last night while trying to read..lol..but I don't think it had anything to do with the book. I'm really going to try to dive in today as we have nothing planned. Wish me luck... ;)

I am reading Coraline as I can not believe I have never heard about it before. I am reading it also because it is a book Dena read and loved (5 stars)so it is her birthday book.
